What Is a Private Day Trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a wonderful group visiting from North America, on a day trip from Kyoto. At the Peace Memorial Park, they listened very attentively, and there were moments when their eyes welled up with emotion. They were deeply moved by the sight of a student group offering a thousand paper cranes at the Children's Peace Monument. To help prevent heatstroke as well, we traveled by the World Heritage sea route, which required no transfers. The okonomiyaki lunch was very well received. They happily purchased souvenirs such as a sword and T-shirts for their family. It was a truly lovely group to guide.
Welcome to Japan! Nice to meet you!

I’m looking forward to meeting you!!
Title: Can You Do a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Nara? A Licensed Guide's Report
Just as we met, the person received an important work email that needed to be handled right away, so the tour started about 20 minutes late. As a result, the train connections to Nara were not very smooth, but the guests actually felt apologetic about it. The purpose of visiting Nara was to interact with the deer and to see the Great Buddha. They had also carefully watched the recent video of overseas tourists mistreating the deer, and we were able to talk about that in some depth. The guests treated the deer very kindly. Since they were heading to Vietnam early the next day, we left Nara a little earlier than planned so as not to overdo it. They were delighted, saying it had been a very meaningful day with so many explanations.
Hi! My name is YUKA. I’ve got the government license in 2018 and joined a half year traning to do the guide. But a half year later I started my carreer, Covid came. I should have given up guiding. During the Covid, I’ve read many books and made my own materials to explain Japanese culture, history, etc. I love guiding because the guests expand my horizon all the time and let me know their own country and culture, etc. It is really important for us all to know each other and respect each other to make this world peace. Thank you for coming to Japan! Let’s enjoy Japan together!

One of the highlights of my trip, perfect for solo travelers!
My solo tour of Arashiyama with Yuka-san was easily one of the absolute highlights of my trip!
Her clever planning allowed us to beat the crowds completely.
Visiting Otagi Nenbutsu-ji and the moss gardens of Gio-ji was deeply moving, and the quiet atmosphere truly forced a moment of silence. Hearing the nightingales and frogs made it extra magical.
Yuka provided incredible guidance and care throughout the day.
I am returning home with a suitcase full of unforgettable stories!

Wonderful Tour, Wonderful Guide!
My teenage boys and I had a wonderful private walking tour of Osaka with our guide Yuka! After I booked the Japan Guide Agency tour through TripAdvisor, Yuka reached out to me directly about our itinerary. She was very accommodating and responsive during the planning stage, and was extremely flexible right up until the day of our tour with last minute changes. She was a wonderful tour guide and incorporated all the sights that we wanted to visit, with a lot of interesting history/facts provided along the way. She spoke very good English and was easy to understand. Would highly recommend this tour (and Yuka!) as a very efficient/immersive way to experience and explore Osaka.

Title: What's a Private Osaka Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Namba, Kuromon Market, and Dotonbori
The guests were a group visiting Osaka, and we were able to move around smoothly throughout the day. At each spot there were many questions from one of the guests. Since some of the guests mentioned being a little hungry, I guided them to an udon shop in the Namba shopping arcade (a casual, stand-and-eat style place), and everyone said they were very satisfied. At Kuromon Market, the group enjoyed sampling a variety of foods, including pickles, dried fruit, black soybean tea, roasted chestnuts, strawberry daifuku, and dorayaki. In Dotonbori, they also purchased the popular soft-serve ice cream from a well-known performance vendor and seemed very pleased. In addition, since one of the guests was a fan of the anime "One Piece," I guided the group to the specialty goods section at the Daimaru department store in Shinsaibashi, which they were delighted with.
This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.
Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
explanation for these three foods.
1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.
Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.
I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.
Looking forward to meeting you soon here.

What Is a Private Tokyo Sightseeing and Shopping Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting Japan. It was scorching hot again from the morning today. We bought drinks from vending machines and made an effort to prevent heat exhaustion. The guests loved shopping and seemed to enjoy browsing along Nakamise Street and Takeshita Street. One of the guests purchased as many as eight capsule toys, and at an animal cafe took many commemorative photos with a hedgehog. This was my first assignment that included a vehicle, but thanks to the advice given in advance by Mr. Matsubara of [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) and the cooperation of today's driver, I was able to complete the tour safely. Thank you very much.

We booked a 6 hour Tokyo tour with Bruce Sugano and had a great experience! Bruce’s English is very good and he was flexible with us setting and changing the itinerary when we saw things we wanted to experience. We took the tour on our 2nd day in Japan and It was helpful to introduce us to the culture and help us gain an understanding of the city and some of its important sites. At the end of our tour, Bruce took us to one of his favorite sushi restaurants and introduced us to Japanese sushi! I would definitely recommend this tour!

Day out in Tokyo
I enjoyed a solo guided tour of Tokyo with Bruce who met me at my hotel and spent some time collaborating to create a bespoke itinery for the day to match my interests and his local knowledge of the kind of places I would not have thought to go to on my first visit to Japan.
We visited the old neighbourhood of Yanaka and walked along Snake Road where I met a shiba dog out for his Sunday morning walk & saw the Nezu shrine and its extrordinary topiary azalea gardens . Then we set off by metro to exprerience the buzz of Harajuku Street shopping district and visit a ridiculously cute hedgehog cafe. I experienced the iconic Shibuya Crossing and learned the story behind the famous mural by artist Taro Okomoto in the station. After all this we arrived mid afternoon at the Tokyo fish markets in Tsukiju where we enjoyed a late lunch at a local sushi bar- the best sushi I have ever tried- a highlight being zuke (tuna infused with yuzu). Our final stop was the local shrine near the market to honour the fish and the seaweed before heading back to my hotel. Along the way we had many interesting conversations about history, politics and art. It was a terrifc day. Highly recommended.

Title: What's a Private One-Day Fashion and Culture Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. This trip marked a special milestone for the family, and afterward they planned to gather with other members of the group in another destination for a holiday. One of the guests was planning to study fashion, so I designed the itinerary based on the interests that had been shared with me in advance. Although not clothing itself, from the perspective of design I introduced several shops in the East Ginza area, including the Kabukiza Theatre and its basement souvenir shop as well as a stationery store, before we boarded our first subway. I also included places I would not normally add to a tour, such as Roppongi Hills, whose logo was designed by their favorite artist Takashi Murakami, and Shibuya 109, which is popular among young visitors. Although we were not able to visit in person, I provided information about Takashi Murakami's official store inside Nakano Broadway and a pop-up store for Junji Ito. The guests took many photos everywhere we went, and I believe they enjoyed themselves. Since it was extremely hot again today, I scheduled the tour to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible, and it was fortunate that conditions had become relatively more comfortable by the time we arrived in Asakusa a little after 3:00 p.m. In addition, since I happened to have lived in the same region abroad in the past, our conversation over lunch was lively with local topics, and the guests were able to pass the time without ever getting bored.

Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group from North America visiting Tokyo before continuing on to Osaka and Kyoto. At Meiji Shrine, they listened with great interest to explanations about the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, and showed particular curiosity about the barrels of Japanese sake and wine. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they appeared deeply impressed by the beautiful Japanese garden. At the Imperial Palace, they listened attentively to explanations about the role of the current Emperor as well as the shoguns of the Tokugawa shogunate and Edo Castle. At Senso-ji Temple, they enjoyed shopping for souvenirs at the shops along Nakamise Street. As I responded to all of the guests' requests, I believe they were satisfied. What Is a Private Kyoto Tour Like in Summer Heat? A Licensed Guide's Report
The tour was carried out with the group, one fewer than originally planned, as one of the guests was not feeling well.
The tour took place in intense heat (37°C–38°C), and it was quite tough on some of the guests, but after lunch at a restaurant, they recovered their energy.
After lunch, we discussed whether to continue or cancel the tour. Since the next destination was Sanjusangendo, which is an indoor visit, the guests decided to continue, and we finished the tour as planned. (I also felt that they chose to continue out of consideration for me as their guide.)
Many guests spend one to two weeks sightseeing in this extreme heat, which makes it easier to fall ill. I want to keep the guests' physical condition as my top priority while conducting the tour.
My name is (Mr.)Michiharu Aioi and I worked at Electronic Manufacturing Company (Panasonic) for more than 40 years in charge of overseas sales.
I learned a lot in these 40 years and now I would like to contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding with foreign countries being involved in tourism busines utilizing my long experience in my previous company. I will do my best to make each trip very fruitful for each foreign visitor.
As for my language ability, in addition to English, I can speak Spanish which I used in my job and I can communicate with Chinese people with intermediate level. Finally It is my great pleasure if my activity could work in the mutual understang with foreign visitors. Thanks a Lot !

Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Old Downtown Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a family group visiting Japan from North America. Some of the guests had visited Japan once before, about 30 years earlier, while the others were visiting for the first time. The family had roots in Asia. They were staying in Japan for about a week, planning to travel only around the Tokyo area. They had arrived at Narita four days earlier and had already explored the major sightseeing spots on their own. On the previous two days they had visited Disneyland and DisneySea. Their accommodation was at a Hotel in Maihama. They planned to go to Hakone the next day and take a day trip to Mount Fuji the day after, before returning home. They mentioned that they had decided on this trip to Japan to give the group some experience abroad.
In the intense summer heat (with some light rain along the way), the tour included several rest breaks.
First, we traveled from Sasazuka Station on the Keio Line, via Shinjuku Station, to Shibamata in Katsushika. The guests commented, "It's so quiet, it's hard to believe this is within Tokyo," and "The old townscape is wonderful." On the approach road they bought and tasted kusa-mochi.
After that, we went to Nippori. At Yanaka Ginza the guests remarked, "It's wonderful to see an old Tokyo shopping street." Here again, along the way, they bought and tasted ice cream.
Next, we visited Nezu Shrine. Passing through the torii gates, they took commemorative photos many times. I explained about "Inari shrines." At the shrine office, I bought protective charms for the younger members of the group.
Inside Otemachi Station, we all had a late lunch of standing-style soba.
The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace were very crowded. I explained about "the history of Edo and Tokyo," "the Meiji Restoration," and "the current Imperial family." There were questions such as "When was it built as a castle?" and "Why did Edo Castle become the Imperial Palace?" There were also questions such as "Does the Emperor live inside here?", "Can we meet the Emperor?", "What is the relationship between the Emperor and the Prime Minister?", and "Who will become the next Emperor?"
There were also comments such as "The city is clean and quiet everywhere. There's no litter on the ground," "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?", and "There are really a lot of subway trains, but it's hard to get used to." One of the guests also commented that, compared to their previous visit, they felt the value of respecting one's elders in Japan seemed to have declined, noting that on the subway younger people remained seated without offering their seats to older passengers.
I saw them off at Shinjuku Station, and the tour concluded.
Guiding career:
Guide work started in July 2022. A guide focused on FIT compliance.
FY2022 results: 17 cases, FY2023 results: 97
Destinations: Various places in Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura and Nikko
As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
Self-introduction:
In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
I am a certified CPA in the United States.
In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

Excellent tour guide
Masa san is extremely knowledgeable and lovely company. My 13-yr-old daughter and I had a great day walking around the sites we had picked with him. He tooks his time to explain all the history and then kindly walked us to the spot of our next booking as it was quite confusing. I would very highly recommend him. Of all the tours we did in Tokyo Masa Sam was my favourite tour guide.

Amazing day in Tokyo
Masa was our tour guide. Masa was an amazing tour guide that communicated extremely well ahead of time about the sites we would like to see in Tokyo, picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel, was very friendly and well prepared and finally but most importantly made our day in Tokyo very memorable.
We went to the Buddhist temple in Asakusa, Meiji Shinto Temple, imperial Palace, Shinjuku Gyoen National Gatden, and Shibuya Crossing. All were great and amazing suggestions by Masa.
Would highly recommend this tour as it was a private tour guide for a full day and provided discretion on which 5-6 sites you want to see. Also highly recommend our tour guide Masa who was a wealth of knowledge and very friendly and charming.
15/10 would do again.

Our tour with Masa was incredible and filled with interesting facts and history, he gave us incredible insight on each location. We loved that we were able to choose 3-4 sites from a large selection and really spend enough time at each spot. Masa was kind and knowledgable and even helped us with a restaurant reservation for later in the evening when were unable to find one.
Title: What Is a Private Nara Park and Todai-ji Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group from North America. Since some of the guests were in their teens, I first took the group by bus to the Ukigumo Enchi area of Nara Park so they could enjoy time with the deer. After nearly 30 minutes of enjoying the deer, I gently pulled the group away from the animals and we headed to Kasuga Taisha Shrine. At the Mikasayama Ukigumonomine worship site, I explained that in original Shinto there were no shrine buildings and no Buddhist statues as in temples, and that there was nothing other than the sacred mountain itself, and the guests listened with interest to various differences from Western religions. As a bonus, members of a professional basketball team happened to be visiting Todai-ji Temple at the same time, and the group got to take a photo together. It was a lot of fun. I am grateful to the guests and to all the staff at [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/).
Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

Enjoyable day in Nara
We spent 6 hours in Nara with Junichi Taguchi and were impressed by how much we were able to see and learn in that time. Traveling as a group of seven adults, we visited Kasuga Taisha, enjoyed lunch at Mizuya Chaya, and explored Tōdai-ji—including the Great Buddha Hall and surrounding grounds. We also spent time at Yoshikien Garden and Irie Taikichi Memorial Museum of Photography, along with encounters with Nara’s famous bowing deer.
Junichi shared clear, informative context throughout the day, adding depth to each stop without ever feeling overwhelming. His pacing was thoughtful, and he kept our group moving smoothly while still allowing time to take things in.
A well-organized and engaging tour—highly recommend Junichi for anyone visiting Nara.

????? Absolutely Outstanding ? Junichi Made Our Nara Day Unforgettable!
We had the pleasure of touring Nara with Junichi today, and he was simply phenomenal from the very first moment! Warm, welcoming, and a true professional, Junichi made us feel instantly at ease. His genuine enthusiasm and excellent English made every part of the day enjoyable and easy to follow.
Junichi’s knowledge is encyclopedic, yet he explains everything in such a clear, engaging, and understandable way. At Kofuku-ji Temple, he brought the history and significance of the site to life with fascinating details. We then enjoyed a relaxing lunch together before heading to Nara Park, where we had the delightful experience of feeding the famous bowing deer ? such a fun and memorable moment!
What really stood out was how flexible and attentive Junichi was. When we felt a bit pressed for time, he smoothly adjusted the itinerary and took us to a wonderful sake tasting facility instead of the next temple. We sampled several excellent sakes and couldn’t resist taking some home with us! From there, he led us to an incredible traditional kitchen knife shop run by an artisan whose family has been crafting blades for 750 years (originally making samurai swords). The craftsmanship was breathtaking, and we ended up purchasing a beautiful knife.
Later, Junichi took us to see an original Japanese merchant’s house, which was a real eye-opener ? the minimalistic lifestyle and beautiful architecture were fascinating.
The entire day was perfectly paced, insightful, and filled with wonderful surprises. Junichi’s caring attitude, deep knowledge, and ability to adapt made this one of the best private tour experiences we’ve ever had. We are so grateful we got to spend the day with him.
If you’re visiting Nara, do yourself a favor and book with Junichi ? you won’t regret it! He’s an absolute gem.
Highly, highly recommended ? 5 stars without hesitation!

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kamakura Temples Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests had requested four spots: Kenchoji, Myohonji, Zuisenji, and Hokokuji. However, since Zuisenji is quite far even from the nearest bus stop, I added Engakuji, which is close to Kenchoji, to the course instead.
For lunch, I guided the guests along Komachi Street, and since it turned out that one of the guests could not eat meat, we went to a soba restaurant where vegetable-focused menu options were available. As the guests seemed interested in matcha, I suggested purchasing an admission ticket that included matcha at Hokokuji. The scenery there is lovely, so I plan to continue suggesting this in the future depending on the situation.
Since Myohonji and Hongakuji, which I guided them to in the latter half of the course, are very close to Kamakura Station, we ended up with a little extra time at the end. Therefore, with the remaining time, I took the guests to Kotokuin in Hase before returning to Kamakura Station to conclude the tour.
Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.
