    Title: What's a Private Full-Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan and Hiroshima for the first time, and one of them felt a connection to Japanese roots, carrying a photo of a ring-like heirloom bearing a samurai family crest passed down through their family. Since they had requested a castle, I took them there at the end of the tour. As they came from an area rich in nature, they were also very interested in the deer on Miyajima. In addition to explanations about Japanese history, they carefully viewed the museum exhibits. As one of the guests enjoyed art, they listened attentively to my explanation of the Setouchi Triennale, and I shared information about it. They said they would consider it as their next destination. They were very kind and consistently well-mannered throughout the tour. They were guests who walked a great deal.

For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
    Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.

    What Is a Private Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided guests visiting from Europe. Because they had reserved a train to return to Osaka on the Shinkansen departing at 6:00, it made for a somewhat tight schedule. At Miyajima, the guests thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Due to time constraints, and because they had already visited many shrines and temples in Kyoto, we did not visit Daishoin, in line with the guests' wishes. We stopped by an okonomiyaki restaurant, and on Omotesando the guests purchased a rice paddle inscribed with their names in katakana, which delighted them very much. At the museum, the guests listened attentively to my own experiences and to the account of Mr. Tsuboi.

    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Water Taxi Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group of guests from North America. Their itinerary, including the planned destinations, had been shared in advance, but on the way to Asakusa it turned out that they had already visited Asakusa and the Skytree on a private tour the day before! For a moment my mind went blank. In addition, some of the guests were unable to walk long distances or for long periods (more than 20 continuous minutes). I explained to the guests that the 11:00 arrival at Koumebashi Pier could not be changed (the Tokyo Water Taxi office does not accept phone calls before 11:00, and although I could call the vessel operator, they cannot answer while the boat is underway). After thinking it over, the guests agreed to a short 10-minute stroll through Ameyoko in Ueno (unfortunately a light rain had also started to fall). Despite the triple challenge of "no fast walking, no Asakusa, no Skytree," thanks to the guests' understanding and cooperation, we arrived at Koumebashi Pier exactly at 11:00 and the water taxi departed as planned. As the light rain continued, the guests and the boat captain chatted together, and before we knew it we had arrived at Odaiba. I heard that the next day they would board a cruise ship early from Yokohama Port. The guests' accommodation was located in Odaiba. They said, "Let's skip the walking tour after arriving at Odaiba and head back to the hotel. We need to prepare for tomorrow's departure, so we'd like to finish early." After disembarking, I gave them verbal directions to the restaurant floor of Aqua City Odaiba and we parted at its entrance. In the case of water taxi tours, although I convey in advance the way to get from the hotel to the boarding pier and the planned destinations (such as Asakusa and the Skytree), there are occasional cases where the guests do not fully understand. I do tell them that there is a walking tour both before boarding and after disembarking, but I think it is hard for guests to imagine how much walking time is involved, so I was reminded once again that I need to communicate this clearly.

    What Can You See on a Private Full-Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wanted a unique experience, so we visited a maid cafe in Akihabara. At a robot cafe in Shin-Nihombashi, they enjoyed having drinks delivered by robots and having conversations with a robot in English. Completing all the places they wished to visit was not possible within the contracted six hours, so I offered the additional two hours as a complimentary service. At Meiji Shrine, we were able to have an interesting mutual conversation about the Japanese view of religion, the Meiji era and Emperor Meiji, and the process of Japan's modernization. The guests were interested in the dog cafe, cat cafe, and pig cafe on Takeshita Street. In Shibuya, we not only saw Hachiko and the scramble crossing but also went into a pachinko parlor.

    Title: What Is a Private Day Trip from Yokohama to Kamakura Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The meeting point was the post office at Yokohama Port, but the guests did not arrive at the scheduled time, which made me a little anxious, though it turned out they were waiting near the service entrance. As planned, we proceeded through Nihon-odori, Yokohama, Kamakura, and Hase, but the train rides were long and we had to buy tickets each time, so the guests seemed a little bored. I first guided them to the Great Buddha in Hase. There was no problem walking up the stairs, but it was raining and they did not seem very interested. When I took them to the Kamakura Great Buddha, it turned out this was their goal, and they were very pleased. Since they had been saying "Great Buddha, Great Buddha" from the beginning, I asked what they would like to do next and whether we should have lunch and go to Kenchoji Temple as planned, but they said they would eat a hamburger or something on the ship and were ready to head back. We took a bus from the Great Buddha to Kamakura Station, then returned by the same route as the outbound journey, and finally I accompanied them all the way to the reception at Osanbashi Pier. There was a lot of conversation among the group, so I was not able to talk much, but at the end they gave me a tip.

    What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were close friends visiting from North America. They were quite familiar with Japan, having watched TV dramas such as "Shogun," and knew a great deal about the country. When they asked about Shinto, I explained it in detail. Since we seemed to have some extra time, I introduced Nihonbashi and then headed toward the Imperial Palace. We returned to Tokyo Station and went to Shinjuku Gyoen, as they had requested. We had lunch just after leaving the station. At Shinjuku Gyoen, the guests enjoyed the roses and the Japanese garden, and then we visited Meiji Jingu Shrine. We went slightly over time, but since they said they would walk back to Shibuya, we parted ways at Harajuku.

    Title: What Can You See on a Half-Day Private Tour of Kanazawa? A Licensed Guide's Report The first request was to go to Kanazawa Station to buy shinkansen tickets for the following day. The JR ticket office (Midori no Madoguchi) is always quite crowded, and I imagine that visitors from abroad who are not used to it struggle at stations everywhere. Since the guests were looking for traditional Kanazawa souvenirs, we stopped by a gold leaf shop in the Higashi Chaya district. They watched the gold leaf manufacturing process and purchased souvenirs. They also seemed interested in other crafts, so it took quite a while, but since they planned to stop by again the next day, we moved on. I guided them through Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park, and we parted ways in the Nagamachi district, though as expected we ran over time. For a half-day tour in Kanazawa, I make it a practice to introduce the highlights so that the guests can visit places on their own in the afternoon.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? teamLab Planets, Shibuya, and a Pokémon Center Visit — A Licensed Guide's Report One of the guests had previously stayed in Japan for six weeks for work and had maintained a connection with the country ever since. The group seemed to have come to Japan without much prior research, so I answered a variety of questions ranging from sightseeing spots to how to buy tickets and where to have dinner. For the destinations, I had recommended in advance visiting teamLab Planets, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and a Pokémon Center. Because it was a large group, each location took some time, and there was no chance to have lunch, so at the end of the tour I took them to a shop at the shopping mall in Toyosu, where we concluded the tour. They were a very friendly group, and I believe they were satisfied.

    My name is Naoko, but please feel free to call me by my nickname, Nancy. I am a licensed interpreter-guide in Japan, and I am delighted to help visitors discover the beauty, culture, and traditions of this wonderful country.

    Since becoming a guide, I have had the pleasure of leading more than 100 private tours for guests from around the world. My tours have taken me not only through Tokyo’s vibrant neighborhoods, but also to beautiful destinations such as Hakone, Nikko, Lake Kawaguchi, and Mt. Takao. I especially enjoy introducing visitors to Japan’s history, architecture, gardens, shrines, temples, and unique cultural experiences.

    One of my greatest joys is sharing stories that bring Japan to life. Whether it is explaining the history of a famous landmark, introducing local customs, or telling traditional legends, I always strive to make each tour both informative and enjoyable. I believe that travel becomes more meaningful when visitors can connect with the people, culture, and stories behind the places they visit.

    Outside of guiding, I enjoy dancing and participating in mountaineering club activities. Exploring Japan’s low mountains and natural landscapes has given me an even deeper appreciation for the country’s beauty throughout the seasons.     Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, visiting Japan and Kyoto for the first time. One of the guests brought a DSLR camera and greatly enjoyed taking photographs, while another asked many questions whenever I explained something and listened to me very attentively throughout, which left a strong impression. They had traveled from Tokyo to Hakone to Kanazawa and then on to Kyoto, and kindly showed me many wonderful photos from each place. Since they mentioned they would be visiting Nara and attending a tea ceremony the next day, I explained about the ancient capital of Nara, about Buddhism, and about the concept of wabi-sabi while viewing the dry landscape garden at Ryoanji Temple. No transportation costs were advanced.

    What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Akihabara, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. It was everyone's first visit to Japan. Their main purpose for visiting Japan was to take part in a taekwondo competition in Nagoya. They stayed in Japan for a total of two weeks. After arriving at Narita Airport, they went to Nagoya, then Osaka, and further visited Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, and today was their final day in Japan. Everyone seemed a little tired. We managed to avoid the rain, but the tour took place in fairly hot and humid weather. First, we went from Ginza Station to Asakusa. I explained about "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto," and about "omikuji fortune slips" and "omamori charms." There were questions such as "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" and "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" At Asakusa Shrine, there was also a question: "How are Shinto and Buddhism different?" After that, at the guests' request, we went to Akihabara. They purchased Pokemon goods and other items. There was a question about "maid cafes." Since there was a request to "have sushi for lunch," we went to a sushi restaurant in Hibiya. One comment was: "In Western countries, restaurants are located where they are easy to see from the street, but in Tokyo, for some reason, they are inside buildings where they can't be seen from the main street." From here, we moved to Shibuya. Only the younger members of the group crossed the scramble crossing, while the others filmed video from the Keio Line platform. There was a question: "Why do so many people gather here at the scramble crossing?" There were also comments such as: "The city is clean and there is no litter on the ground," "There are no trash cans on the streets," "The public toilets are clean and pleasant," and "The inside of the subway is quiet, clean, and reassuring." I saw them off at Ginza Station, and we parted ways.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.
