What Is a Private Walking Tour of Asakusa, Nezu Shrine, and Tokyo Tower Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The weather was pleasant, which allowed the itinerary to proceed comfortably. The guests seemed to enjoy the contrast between the crowds of Asakusa and the quietness of Nezu Shrine. They appeared to greatly enjoy the tonkatsu restaurant near Nezu Station. The melon bread in Asakusa, though a classic, was also very well received. In terms of timing, we ended up spending more time than planned in the crowded area of Asakusa, so we toured the other locations a little more quickly. Tokyo Tower did not seem particularly appealing to the guests. They did not do any particular shopping. As it was just before a three-day holiday weekend, there were many preparations underway for autumn festivals, and both Nezu Shrine and Zojoji Temple had many tents set up for stalls still being prepared, which somewhat detracted from the scenery — this was a bit unfortunate.

What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were very cheerful, joking around and lively from the moment we met, so we hit it off right away. On Miyajima, everyone loved the grilled oysters and said they could eat any number of them. They were absorbed in shopping, with each person buying about three to five pairs of personalized chopsticks as souvenirs, along with handmade rice scoops produced on Miyajima, hats and T-shirts, and tumblers and lunch boxes from the Studio Ghibli shop. Since they wished to have okonomiyaki for dinner, after leaving the Peace Memorial Museum we went to a restaurant that I had booked online that day. It is a restaurant where you can reserve seats in front of the teppan grill, so we were able to sit right by the grill, take photos, and enjoy okonomiyaki along with teppanyaki dishes such as oysters, squid, and shrimp. We managed to secure two taxis, one via an app and one hailed on the street, and were able to finish the tour on schedule as planned.

Title: What Can You See on a Private Walking and Train Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report To give the guests a chance to see as much of the cityscape and buildings as possible from ground level, I chose to travel on the JR line above ground, even though it took a little more time. At around 10 a.m. on a weekday, the Shibuya Crossing had a fair amount of traffic, which was great. In Harajuku, we soon took in the exterior of Yoyogi National Gymnasium. At Meiji Shrine, I explained the history of Shinto and the Imperial family. By chance, we came across a Shichi-Go-San celebration and a wedding, which was very fortunate. Continuing on foot to Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium and the National Stadium, we experienced contemporary architecture. In Akihabara, the guests were overwhelmed by the sheer energy of its anime culture. Finally, at the grand halls of Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, I was able to help the guests appreciate the remarkable depth of tradition — the tradition of the roof that had actually been carried on into the Yoyogi National Gymnasium we had seen earlier. It was a great success.

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.

Despite my experience as a guide for just two years, we can make the best out of our tour by travelling from your hotel to spots time-efficiently with my local knowledge, while accommodating your unexpected requests during the tour.
My strong area includes Yanesen; Old Temples in a Quaint Village, Kamakura, Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. All give you peace of mind.

What Is a Private Kanazawa Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kenrokuen, the Castle, and Local Food I am sharing the information exactly as I passed it along to the guide in Tokyo when handing over the tour. Today the tour finished, so I am sharing the following information. The guests are on a trip that goes from Kyoto to Kanazawa, Hakone, and Tokyo. Since their interests included construction and the arts, they visited Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, the samurai district, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art with great interest. They speak French, Arabic, and English (having lived in North America for many years), so communication is almost no problem at all. As for meals, since a local travel agency had selected a particular kaiseki venue, I made a reservation at a suitable kaiseki restaurant in Kanazawa, but it seems they are not especially particular about it. On the other hand, one of the guests avoids shellfish and crab, and the other prefers lighter dishes. For lunch, a good udon or soba restaurant (a place that also offers tempura or some grilled items) might be appreciated. I think introducing a good ramen shop near the accommodation would also be well received. Also, although Kanazawa does not have a subway, they were interested in getting around by subway in Tokyo. The guests were concerned about the situation back home due to the current circumstances there. Depending on the situation, they are also considering a stay in Europe after leaving Japan. That said, since they are enjoying their time in Japan, I think it is best not to bring it up too much. We happened to have a chance to talk slowly at lunch, so the conversation went there, but… They also enjoyed shopping, purchasing a lot of Kutani ware, lacquerware, and other items in Kanazawa. They are a very easygoing group. That is all. Thank you very much.

Title: What Is a Private Tour with a Licensed Guide Like in Japan? A Guide's Report I received a message that the guests would arrive 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. Since I was already waiting, we met right away and set off. The guests were very fond of Japan and showed deep understanding and empathy toward what I shared, being moved each time. They had watched SHOGUN, so I made an effort to convey the spirit of the samurai. As one of the guests enjoyed photography, we toured while I pointed out the best spots. The weather was fine, and since the way the sunlight fell changed over time, the guests were very satisfied with the great photos they were able to take.

Hello, I am a tour guide, Chiyuki. If I write my name in Japanese, it means one thousand happiness. Please call me Chiyuki. I am looking forward to seeing you.

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku The guests were visitors from North America. Some of the guests had joined the others in Tokyo on the way back from a trip abroad. We got along well because I had often visited their home region during my time as a company employee. They mentioned that they would go to Kyoto the following day and then return to Tokyo to spend three days there, so I taught them how to use the Shinkansen, JR lines, and the subway. Since they wanted to visit Akihabara and the Tokyo National Museum the following week, I showed them Ueno Station and Akihabara Station on the way from Asakusa to Meiji Shrine. As the temperature was rising, we entered Meiji Shrine from the North Approach, where we could walk through the cool, densely wooded forest. Takeshita Street was crowded even on a weekday, and the guests were overwhelmed, so we turned back at the entrance. I showed them how to get from the Hotel to JR Yurakucho Station, and then we parted ways.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi Park, and Asakusa This hotel inside Roppongi Hills has a complex layout, and I once got lost inside the building before, but this time that experience proved useful and I was able to guide the guests smoothly to the station. The guests from North America were cheerful and positive, and their clear, standard American English was easy to understand, so we were able to communicate enjoyably throughout. At Meiji Shrine, they showed interest in the Inner Garden, so even though it was out of season, I guided them inside. Here too, they took a positive view, saying it was lucky that there were few people because of the rain. Yoyogi Park was a spot the guests had requested. There were no particular events on, and I was a little worried whether there would be anything worth showing, but as the guests love plants, they seemed to enjoy simply looking at the trees in the park. A few out-of-season Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms were also in bloom, which delighted us. I suggested a stroll around Asakusa. At the end, I took them to a popular ramen shop, "Yoroiya," near Nakamise-dori before we parted ways.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

Title: What Can You See on a History-Focused Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report During my communication with the guests, they requested a tour focused on history (they preferred to avoid Asakusa, as they planned to visit it the following day together with Akihabara), and mentioned they would explore the modern areas on their own. Based on this, I proposed Meiji Shrine, the Nijubashi Bridge at the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji, and the Nezu-Yanaka area, and also suggested stopping by Zojoji Temple along the way (I judged Zojoji to be a good spot for explaining history, as it also houses the tombs of the Tokugawa shoguns). However, this turned out to be a mistake, and I got a bit too enthusiastic trying to include everything. The guests were receptive, but they seemed very tired. Also, Zojoji is only accessible via the Toei Mita Line, which made it quite difficult to reach. Partway through, the guiding became rushed, and we ended up going nearly an hour over the finishing time. In hindsight, I regretted it, thinking that for a 6-hour tour it would have been better to visit three or four places at a relaxed pace (I will take this as a lesson for next time). The photo is of Nezu Shrine.

    • 9:00 Asakusa – Around Asakusa – 10:40 Tsukiji – 11:30 Hamarikyu – 13:00 Nijubashi

Title: What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Hamarikyu The night before the tour, the agency notified me of a change of accommodation. Since it was still in the Asakusa area, it was not a major problem, but the response from the agency was slow. I had prepared an itinerary of Tsukiji, Hamarikyu, and Nijubashi without confirming the guests' wishes, but after checking their preferences, we started with Asakusa. Because the route differed from what I had planned, I took a wrong turn on the way to the subway station and made the guests walk a little extra. When I explained about omikuji fortunes and goshuin stamps, they purchased them and were very pleased. One of the guests drew a "bad luck" fortune at Sensoji Temple, so they tried again at Namiyoke Shrine and this time drew a "good luck" fortune. The weather was fine, so they liked the scenery at Hamarikyu the most. The tour ended at 1:00, but I saw them off to Tokyo Station, where they treated me to ramen and even gave me a souvenir. They were a pleasant group. Since they did not carry handkerchiefs, I was able to give them wet wipes after using the restroom. They also planned to collect goshuin stamps in Kyoto, which they would visit in the latter half of their trip.

Hyogo in Half a Day: Himeji Castle & Egret Himeji

    Tour Itinerary

    • 11:00 Meet @ Himeji Castle Sakuramon Bridge
    • 11:15 @ Himeji Castle
    • 13:30 @ Koko-en Garden
    • 14:30 @ Egret Himeji
    • 15:00 Disband @ Food court inside JR Himeji Station

What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour started about 15 minutes late due to the guests' schedule, but everything proceeded smoothly afterward. The guests were very interested throughout the visit and listened attentively to my explanations. One of the guests had studied a little Japanese as well, which showed a high level of interest. At Himeji Castle, they purchased various souvenirs. After the tour, on the way back to Himeji Station, they enjoyed the "matcha soft serve ice cream" offered by a specialty tea shop I recommended, and they seemed very satisfied. They also stopped by a shop specializing in "beckoning cat" figures, where they bought souvenirs and took commemorative photos. After the tour ended, they ordered "station soba" and "Akashi-style takoyaki" at the food court inside Himeji Station, and we parted ways there. Today we visited only two adjacent spots, so we were able to move around with plenty of time to spare. (On the way back, we were even able to stop by Egret Himeji, which had not been planned.) On the contrary, I began to think that the schedules until now may have been too tight. Going forward, if possible, I believe that offering relaxed tours like today's would allow us to provide content that guests find more satisfying.

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.
    Doomo Arigato Gozaimasu!
