What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour Before a Yokohama Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who planned to depart on a cruise from Yokohama Port later that evening after sightseeing in Tokyo. Because they needed to return to their ship at Osanbashi Pier in Yokohama Port by 4:30 p.m., we followed the itinerary described above. At the Imperial Palace, the guests listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Nezu Shrine, they were very interested in the explanation of the differences between shrines and temples. In Asakusa, the guests wanted to buy a cooking knife, so I guided them to the knife shop they requested near the Shin-Nakamise shopping street, where they purchased several knives as souvenirs and for their own use. At Sensoji Temple, they bought a kimono for a family member along the Nakamise shopping street. Since I responded exactly to the guests' wishes, I believe they were satisfied.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

When I arrived at the Hotel, the guests asked me to make dinner restaurant reservations for the next three days. It was hard to secure them, but with the help of the Hotel staff, we resolved it. Partly because the temperature was high and it was hot, one of the guests seemed a little tired from walking. For the latter half, we switched to traveling by taxi. The guests enjoyed Kido Nanzoin, as it offers a rural, quintessentially Japanese landscape. In the latter half, they were able to see the modern areas of Fukuoka City, and they kindly praised the tour for its good balance.

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like for a Cruise Ship Guest? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest arrived in Japan on a cruise to join this private tour after returning to the country for the first time in about 50 years. On the day of the tour, the weather was extremely foggy, so instead of the planned visit to Tokyo Tower, we went to the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno. The guest viewed the exhibits carefully and seemed particularly impressed by the Meiji-era paintings. The guest also enjoyed a pleasant walk through Meiji Shrine. That day there were many cruise visitors, and the plaza at Meiji Shrine was so crowded that it was nearly full. An Ikebana exhibition by the Ikenobo school was being held there, and the guest appeared to enjoy it very much. This private tour in Tokyo was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides serving all 47 prefectures.

Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. It is my pleasure to introduce many aspects in our tour, especially cooking, for it is my hobby and I went to the professional cooking and SAKE school, respectively. If you have any questions or requests about Japanese cooking, of course our tour, I am very delighted to answer to you anytime!

They were traveling in Japan, spending time in Tokyo and the wider Kanto area before continuing to Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima. They seemed deeply impressed by the tuna auction at Toyosu, enthusiastically filming video for more than twenty minutes. At the Tsukiji fish market, they were amazed to see so many different kinds of fish and said they wanted to try cooking some themselves. Over breakfast at a coffee shop, they enjoyed a caffè latte and a sandwich, and when I mentioned that a famous conductor had also visited the shop, they were very surprised and delighted, praising the taste and the wonderful atmosphere of the place.

    My name is Kris,
Before becoming a tour guide, I worked for a major steelmaking company as an engineer for many years. During my career, I lived and worked in both Germany and the United States for a total of five years. These experiences helped me understand different cultures and ways of thinking, which now helps me connect easily with guests from around the world.

After retirement, I chose a second career as a tour guide because I truly enjoy meeting people from different countries and sharing Japanese culture, history, and daily life. I have been working as a guide for more than nine years and continue to enjoy every tour.

I currently live in Tokyo, but I was born and raised in Kobe, near Osaka, and my family roots are in Kyoto. As a result, I have extensive knowledge not only of Tokyo but also of Kyoto, Osaka, and many other parts of Japan. I enjoy introducing both famous landmarks and hidden local gems that many visitors might otherwise miss.

I am energetic, friendly, and very sociable. I always try to create tours that are relaxed, flexible, and tailored to my guests’ interests.

Travel is one of my greatest passions, especially visiting hot spring resorts. I have visited more than 80 onsen destinations throughout Japan, giving me a deep appreciation of Japanese culture and regional traditions.

Whether you are visiting Japan for the first time or returning for another adventure, I would be delighted to help you discover the real Japan from a local perspective.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you create wonderful memories in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and beyond.

    See you in Japan!

    Kris

Title: What Is a Private Guided Tour of Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Europe. They had a quiet and gentle demeanor, and since visitors from Europe often enjoy wit and irony, adding light, subtle humor into the conversation brought pleased smiles. The [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide noticed how naturally the group relaxed throughout the day. On this private tour of Miyajima, encountering wildlife had a wonderfully calming effect on everyone. The deer of Miyajima are remarkably gentle, and the guests' hearts naturally eased as they interacted with them. For a guide, this is a truly welcome gift of nature.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything, I’ll change the plan according to your requests.

What Does a One-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine The guests were visitors from Europe. Since it was their first time in Japan and they wanted to see the main highlights, I guided them to Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine, stopping by the Kabukiza Theatre along the way. They said they did not particularly need lunch, so they had a little takoyaki in Asakusa and seemed to enjoy their beer very much. They did not seem especially interested in souvenirs, so we did not stop at many shops. Meiji Shrine, which we visited last, was a great favorite, and they looked very relaxed and content there. Since they would have only one more day in Tokyo, I introduced places we could not reach today, such as Ginza and the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, and we parted ways at the hotel.

Title: What's a Private Family-Friendly Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku and Harajuku I guided a group visiting from North America. They were on a trip of about a week, having traveled through Osaka, Kyoto, and Hakone before arriving in Tokyo the previous evening, so they seemed rather tired. I made sure to focus the tour on the younger members of the group so they would not get bored. Since one of the guests was fond of animals, especially dogs, the group was very interested in the pet shops and animal cafes in Kabukicho and along Takeshita Street, and they enjoyed playing digital art games at Galaxy Harajuku to recover from their fatigue (they had also been looking forward to seeing the koi at Togo Shrine, but it was closed to visitors today). Finally, I introduced them to the food court on the fifth floor of Harakado as a lunch spot, and we parted ways once the Ippudo ramen was served to the guests. One of the guests was very interested in the history of Kabukicho and in tattoos, and we became so engaged in conversation about employment and the education system that we missed a turn and took the wrong way at Shinjuku Station. Even though they were tired, I believe the group enjoyed the tour overall.

Nice to meet you. I am delighted to introduce myself. My nickname is Danda. I live in Saitama prefecture next to Tokyo, but I was brought up in Kanazawa, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan. My favorite things are bonsai and hiking. Also, I have been a big fun of history and sumo since my childhood. As for the guide, I have enjoyed making communication with foreign visitors since 2019. What Is a Private Shinjuku and Shibuya Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came from Oceania. On the day they arrived in Japan, they had a series of troubles, such as getting lost inside their accommodation and not being able to communicate in English with the hotel staff, and they became worn out early on. Since they could not ask the hotel staff, they asked me various questions and I assisted them via a messaging app. On the day of the tour, I asked the hotel front desk to please provide proper assistance. I wondered why such a thing happened at this hotel, which receives many international visitors. The content of the tour had been decided through communication with a local agency, so changes were needed, and we discussed and finalized things in the hotel lobby. The guests enjoyed the sightseeing spots and shopping in Shinjuku and Shibuya. At Shibuya Station I helped them purchase an IC card and Shinkansen tickets, and we also scouted the meeting point for the next day's bus tour. I then guided them to Yurakucho Station so they could return on their own, and we said goodbye. The local agency had requested that lunch be Italian, so I arranged that, but it seemed that while Japanese food would be difficult for them on their own, they would have preferred Japanese food since a guide was with them. I felt that when it is not possible to communicate directly with the guests, misunderstandings can easily arise. It would be good if there were some effective solution for this… The guests were very grateful and I believe they were satisfied. The guests required a fair amount of attention, but they had such an endearing personality that once you met them, all was forgiven. To [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/): On the day, at the guests' request, the tour was extended by one hour and I received payment for it.

Some of the guests had matters to attend to in Nagoya, while Tokyo was purely for sightseeing, with a departure from Japan planned for the following day. At Meiji Shrine, the guests were able to see two wedding processions, which they were extremely delighted by, and they took many photos. They also purchased souvenirs. At the entrance to Takeshita Street, they took photos of their own images displayed on a screen. In Asakusa, they were a little surprised by the crowds, and were especially fascinated by Kaminarimon Gate, Hozomon Gate, the five-story pagoda, and the main hall. The tour was completed around the area where Hoppy Street intersects with Denbouin Street.

Hello, I’m Masaaki Kurata. I have been conducting walking tours in Asakusa, Ueno, Yanaka and the East Garden of Imperial Palace since I joined an English guide volunteer club in 2016. I worked for 2 U.S. based companies in Tokyo for 41 years and retired in 2023. I developed good communication skills with people from other countries in my long career in those 2 companies. I was born in the suburb of Tokyo and I’m familiar with Tokyo pretty much. Since I retired and do not work for a company any longer, I can be flexible in making itineraries. I really want to make tourists happy by making fun and interesting communication.

What Is a 4-Hour Private Miyajima Tour from Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Regarding the 9:30 meeting: although we met on time, the guests had apparently been waiting since around 9:00 at the Starbucks on the second floor near the south exit of Hiroshima Station. Normally I would arrange to meet in the hotel lobby, but since this was a 4-hour Miyajima tour, we chose the Starbucks on the second floor of Hiroshima Station to save time (the guests' choice). I had some concern that they might mistake it for the Starbucks on the second floor of a different building near the south exit, but since I had specified "the second floor of Hiroshima Station," I assumed it would be fine, and my mistake was not providing further details (I worried that giving more explanation might cause extra confusion, which backfired). After arriving at the site, we were able to visit the main sightseeing spots except for Mount Misen, but we unexpectedly ran into a situation where, due to a high tide (there had been a hunter's moon the previous night), entry to Itsukushima Shrine was stopped. I changed the route and guided them accordingly. Since the guests chose to stay on Miyajima and continue sightseeing, I introduced the cable car station heading to Mount Misen and dining spots such as the Omotesando shopping street, and then we parted ways.
