What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, and Asakusa The guests were visitors from Oceania. Since the booking was confirmed only three days beforehand, I had proposed an itinerary, but as I did not know their preferences in advance, I met with them first, and after learning that a slower walking pace would be more comfortable, we discussed it together and adjusted the itinerary to a more relaxed plan by removing one stop. At Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, and Asakusa, I shared as much as I could about Japanese history, religion, customs, and culture, and the guests were delighted to have learned so many things. As they would be staying in Tokyo for only a short time, I suggested several places that were easy to access from their hotel and well suited to the season.

Title: What's a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like from Tsukiji to the Imperial Palace? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided the guests visiting from North America. Because they arrived at Narita at 6:30 in the morning and the tour started at noon, I was a little concerned about their stamina, but they were able to get around by train all the way to the end. For lunch, I took them to the food court at Tsukiji Uogashi, where they enjoyed tempura and gyoza and were very pleased. At Namiyoke Shrine, they happily purchased a goshuincho stamp book and a goshuin. At Senso-ji Temple, however, the line was extremely long, so they decided to give up on it. They also tried to add the stamp from Hamarikyu Gardens, so I explained that Japanese people do not put that type of stamp in a goshuincho. We visited the Imperial Palace after sunset, when there were almost no other people, and the lights of the surrounding buildings were beautiful, offering a charm quite different from the daytime. Wherever we went, they were greatly impressed by the gardens, the pine trees, and the architecture.

Tochigi in One Day: Nikko Toshogu Shrine & Arasawa

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:10 Meet at Tobu Nikko Station
    • 8:40 Nikko Toshogu Shrine

    • 14:50 Disband at Tobu Nikko Station

What Is a Private Day Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wished to visit Toshogu Shrine first thing in the morning, so we met early. The weather was clear and it was an enjoyable day of guiding. The autumn foliage in Nikko was still a little early, but there were a great many tourists, and the bus from Yasukawacho to Akechidaira was so full that we nearly missed it. We could not get seats, and unfortunately the guests had to stand in the moving bus through the sharp curves of the Irohazaka road, which was a difficult experience for them. There was also a long line for the Akechidaira Ropeway, where we spent quite some time. The view from Akechidaira was excellent and the guests were very satisfied. Kegon Falls had a fair amount of water, and the foliage had begun to turn colors a little, so the guests enjoyed it. On the way back, the guests had a brief errand at Arasawa, so we stopped there before parting ways at Tobu Nikko. Afterward, since we were heading the same way, I accompanied the guests as far as Omiya.

What Can You Do on a Private Kyoto Tour Focused on Pottery, Ukiyo-e, and Sweets? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America with an interest in real estate. Their accommodation was a Hotel near Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Since they had already visited many shrines and temples in Tokyo, they said just a couple of sightseeing spots would be enough. Both were interested in pottery and ukiyo-e, so on the way to and from Kiyomizu-dera Temple I showed them two or three Kiyomizu-yaki pottery shops. They seemed to greatly enjoy Kiyomizu-dera Temple. On the approach road they bought fresh yatsuhashi at a well-known shop. At the incense shop Shoyeido they bought stick incense and an incense burner. After Ninen-zaka, we went via Ishibei-koji to Higashioji and took a taxi to Shinmonzen-cho. We visited three antique shops, and they each purchased one ukiyo-e print. Since the shopping finished relatively early, we slipped into Kennin-ji Temple twenty minutes before closing. They were moved by the twin dragons painting on the ceiling of the Dharma Hall. One of the guests loved sweets very much, so I guided them to Koe Donuts in Shinkyogoku and the sweets section in the basement of the Daimaru department store. They looked forward to buying a little of many different things to enjoy back at the Hotel. At Nishiki Market they ate takoyaki. Rather than a tour rushing from one sightseeing spot to the next, they were very pleased to enjoy a tour tailored to their own interests. Since they would be staying in Kyoto for a few more days, I also recommended various places to eat.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!

Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: Today's guests were a group from North America. We met at 9:00 as scheduled at their hotel and set off for sightseeing in Nara by arranged taxi. The guests were friendly and mentioned that some of their relatives had connections to Japan. They love traveling and have visited most tourist destinations around the world, but this was their first time in Japan. In Nara, [Japan Guide Agency](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide first showed them Kofuku-ji Temple, introducing the Jizo Bodhisattva, the three-storied pagoda, the North and South Octagonal Halls, and the gilt bronze works, then took a taxi to Nara Park, where they delightedly watched the many deer crowding around travelers looking for food. After that, we moved on to the Great South Gate and the Great Buddha Hall, and I introduced the highlights there. From the Great Buddha Hall, we walked past Wakakusa Hill and visited Kasuga Taisha Shrine, where I guided them around the shrine. A comparison between different religious traditions and Shinto became a topic of conversation. After Kasuga Taisha, we took a break at a nearby teahouse for a snack that also served as lunch, and here too, discussions of various religious traditions became the main topic, offering many discoveries and a great deal to learn. After the break, we moved by taxi to the Heijo Palace ruins, where I explained the background of Heijo-kyo, making it the final stop of our Nara sightseeing. Today's tour aimed to be a walking tour where we could take our time and enjoy conversation, and I was able to prioritize routes that avoided places crowded with tourists. Also, perhaps knowing that I live in Nara, the guests told me, "We can get back to the hotel on our own, so you don't need to accompany us to Kyoto," and so we parted ways in Nara.

After a rather long teaching experience at Japanese college, I converted my career about 6 years ago into working as a tour guide for the tourists visiting Japan.
As my career overseas, I’ve been in the UN and the Japanese Embassy, all in the USA, totaling more than 6 years.
And then I had made a big change in my career from a diplomat to an academic researcher. For that career to achieve, I studied abroad and won a doctorate degree in linguistics from Indiana University and landed a teaching position at college in Japan.
With all these interesting and exciting experiences I’ve made myself ready to enrich your tour and make it both enjoyable and worthwhile.

Title: What's a Private Kanazawa Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Temples, Buddhist Philosophy, and Kanazawa Castle The guests had previously joined a tour of Kyoto and Nara and said they had enjoyed it very much. This time, at the request of one of the guests, who wanted to learn about Buddhist philosophy, they had selected Myoryuji Temple and the D.T. Suzuki Museum. I had wondered why they would specifically choose to explore Buddhist philosophy in Kanazawa, but the guests were amazed by the mechanical devices inside Myoryuji Temple, which are not found in ordinary Buddhist temples. After explaining the relationship between the samurai society of Kanazawa at the time and the temples, I conveyed the aims of Buddhism, but since the ideas themselves can seem contradictory, it may have been difficult for visitors from abroad to fully grasp. The guests mentioned that they had already visited both Himeji Castle and Osaka Castle, and said they were not very interested in Kanazawa Castle. However, once I began guiding them there, they decided to cancel their planned day trip to Toyama and to explore Kanazawa more thoroughly instead. On this day the temperature dropped about 10°C compared to the previous day, and toward the end one of the guests seemed to feel a bit chilled, so I advised them to get some rest early and concluded the tour.

Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather forecast for the tour day called for heavy rain, so before the tour started I told the guests that, depending on the weather, we might visit the Ishikawa History Museum or the Kaga Honda Museum, and they agreed. Fortunately, the weather managed to hold until just after 1:30 PM. Even so, while touring inside the Hishi Yagura, Gojukken Nagaya, and Hashizumemon Tsuzuki Yagura buildings of Kanazawa Castle, it began to rain quite heavily. We took shelter for about 10 minutes, and after checking the rain cloud radar, we resumed the tour once the rain had eased. In the Nagamachi district we toured in light rain, but at the Nomura Family Residence, the Takada Family Residence, and the Ashigaru Museum the explanations took place indoors, which was helpful. It was good that the guests did not get very wet. Finally, the guests were pleased to be able to purchase the samue work clothes they had wanted at a department store.

What Is a Private Guided Tour of Koyasan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report There were some concerns about differences in policy between the intermediary travel agency and [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), but on the day the guests handed me an envelope containing 5,000 yen, from which I paid the admission fees and transportation costs. Since there was an unplanned admission fee for the Reihokan Museum, we came up a few hundred yen short, so the guests added the difference and I returned only the receipts in the envelope. I offered a discount ticket I had for admission fees, and since the guests bought an expensive incense burner and other items as souvenirs, they were delighted to receive the 10% discount ticket. The guests were enthusiastic and asked many questions, and were surprisingly good walkers who moved quickly, so we were able to visit the Reihokan Museum in addition to Okunoin, Kongobuji, and the Garan, deepening their understanding. It felt like they were able to fully enjoy Koyasan. They also took many photos. The guests enjoyed comparing the differences between the cities they had traveled to before and Koyasan.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.

Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests arrived around 9:05. The guests were visitors from North America. One of the guests seemed knowledgeable about Japanese history and showed interest in the historical explanations. At the Nakajima Teahouse in Hamarikyu Gardens, they enjoyed matcha and sweets. They did not seem to mind taking off their shoes. At Meiji Shrine, they enjoyed drawing omikuji fortunes. There was a question about how much Japanese people believe in Shinto, and I explained that many people use it for ceremonies such as weddings rather than truly believing in it. Since one of the guests wanted to eat tempura, we had lunch at a restaurant. The other guest had curry. At Nakamise in Asakusa, they enjoyed kibi dango and cold matcha, and purchased a box of eight ningyo-yaki. Since one of the guests had a knee issue, we fanned the incense smoke toward them. As they wanted to see Nijubashi Bridge, we wrapped up Asakusa a little early and headed to Nijubashi, then parted ways at the subway.

I have been working as a tour guide once a week since the autumein 2024. I got 5 star ratings from 32 individuals or groups succesively.
Previously, I have been working with grain business for 43 years. I was sent to a subsidiary office in New Orleans for three years.
I love Japanese history, culture and nature and want as many viaitors as possible to know the good and beautiful things about Japan. There’s a Zen teaching that I hold dear. That is ‘Ichi-go ichie’, which means ’Treasure every encounter as it may not come again’. Looking forward to see you!

What Is a Rainy-Day Private Hiking Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour took place in heavy pouring rain. The guests were experienced hikers and were fully prepared for the rain, so although I suggested visiting a museum instead, they said the rain was no problem and we carried out the itinerary as planned. I mistakenly boarded the wrong train, which caused some inconvenience to the guests. When I asked whether they would like to call a taxi from Mitsuyasu Seikaen or return on foot and by bus, they said they had not walked enough for the day, so they chose to walk back to the cruise center in a little under 30 minutes, and we parted ways there.
