    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. It was their first time in Japan. The main purpose of their trip to Japan was to attend a wedding, as a member of the group was getting married. They arrived at Haneda yesterday afternoon and transferred by train to their hotel. They would stay in Tokyo for three days, with other members of the group gradually gathering in Tokyo from North America, and in four days everyone planned to travel together for the wedding. After the wedding, they planned to visit Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Osaka, and then return home from Kansai Airport. The main purpose of today's tour was to give them a general sense of Tokyo and to learn how to use the subway. The tour took place under weather that brought occasional rain. First, we went to Asakusa. We walked from Kaminarimon through the Nakamise shopping street to the main hall. As it was the first day of a holiday weekend, and despite the rain, it was extremely crowded. I explained about Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo, what a five-story pagoda is, and the difference between Buddhism and Shinto. There were questions such as "What are the lanterns for?", "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?", and "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" We moved on to the Imperial Palace. I explained about the transition from the Edo period to the Meiji era, the Meiji Restoration, why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace, and the current issues facing the Imperial family. They commented, "The pine trees are beautiful. I collect a few bonsai as a hobby," and "I also liked the Japanese garden." There were also questions such as "Does the Emperor really live in here?" We moved to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine, I also explained about Emperor Meiji. They said, "It is wonderful that there is such a green place in the center of the city," and "The chrysanthemums at the chrysanthemum exhibition were impressive." There was also a question: "Who bears the cost of maintaining the shrine? Is there any support from the government?" They commented, "I now understand well that Tokyo is a city that spreads over a wide area." They also remarked, "The city is clean. There is no litter on the ground," "There are no trash bins on the streets," "There are no homeless people to be seen," "The public toilets are clean and pleasant," and "The subway is quiet, clean, and reassuring." I saw them off at Shimbashi Station, and we parted ways.

    What Is a Private Kamakura Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan on a trip. When they kindly shared that this was a special celebratory trip, I decided to celebrate the occasion. I had them sign the congratulatory board that I always carry with me, and we took a photo at Inamuragasaki with Mount Fuji in the background. The only regret was that Mount Fuji was a little hazy that day. Since they mentioned they were also going to Nikko and Kyoto, I took the opportunity to explain the difference between shrines and temples and introduced the proper way to worship. The guests were also interested in Japanese kanji, hiragana, and katakana, so I introduced some simple kanji characters. They told me they had studied a little hiragana and katakana before coming to Japan.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo's Kiyosumi Garden and Yanaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America, stopping in Tokyo and Kyoto for sightseeing while traveling through Asia. At Kiyosumi Garden they were deeply moved by its beauty, and they were also fortunate to see two couples having pre-wedding photos taken, and they were captivated by the sight of "real Japanese people" in kimono. Incidentally, there were no other inbound visitors at Kiyosumi Garden at all. Since the guests were interested in architecture, I explained the sukiya-zukuri style at both Kiyosumi Garden and Yamamoto-tei. Before arriving in Japan, in addition to the itinerary above, Yanaka Ginza and Nezu Shrine had been planned, but the guests were tired after not sleeping well the night before, so upon reaching Nippori they decided to skip those visits. I gave a verbal explanation of the Yanesen area, which was spared from the wartime fires, and then took them to their hotel.     What Is a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They arrived at Haneda Airport the previous evening and took a taxi to their Hotel. They planned to stay in Japan and, after spending time in Tokyo, to travel to Nagano (Yudanaka Onsen), Hida-Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima before returning to Tokyo and heading home. They said, "We really want to see the 'Snow Monkeys' at Yudanaka Onsen," and, "We both love mountain walking and plan to go trekking in Nagano." They also mentioned, "It's a shame that we won't have a chance to see Mount Fuji along the way." The tour took place under clear skies, though strong winds made it somewhat chilly. First, we headed to Asakusa. From Kaminarimon, we walked through the Nakamise shopping street to the main hall. As it was in the middle of a holiday weekend, they were surprised by the huge crowds. I explained "Senso-ji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what a five-story pagoda is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There were questions such as "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" and "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" Via Ueno, we went to the "Yanesen" area. At Yanaka Ginza, they said, "We love this kind of calm scenery," and, "The guidebook said it's famous for cats, but where are the cats?" They said, "It's wonderful that there's such a green place in the middle of the city. It feels great." They also commented, "All Japanese people are polite," "Why is there no litter on the streets?", "Why are there no trash cans?", and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." I saw them off at Shiodome Station, where the tour ended.

    Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Temple Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Daitoku-ji and Ryoan-ji Because the guests used a taxi-hailing app, all transportation costs were paid by the guests. During the tour on October 28, one of the guests mentioned having lived in Japan around 1950, so in the October 28 report I noted a certain background regarding that time. However, today the guest said they had actually lived in Japan for about a year and a half starting in 1953, so I am correcting that detail accordingly. There used to be residences on the site of what is now the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, and the guest said they had lived there, and had also visited the Kyoto Botanical Gardens the day before yesterday. A friend of the group had moved from one hotel to another, so we arranged to meet at Ryoan-ji. When I mentioned that one of the guests was using a cane, they kindly provided a cane cover. The friend among the guests wished to have a guided visit of all the sub-temples of Daitoku-ji that were open to the public. While enjoying matcha at Daisen-in, I answered questions from the guests and the conversation became very lively, and as the end of the guiding time was approaching, I guided them to Obai-in, which has a dry pond that the guest had wished to see, and we concluded there. Due to the heavy rain last Saturday, the dry pond still had some water in it, but I answered questions about the buildings and gardens, and also asked nearby staff who could respond to questions and interpreted their answers.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine Tour in Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had arrived in Hiroshima three days earlier and appeared to be enjoying a relaxed stay. They kindly mentioned that they loved the nature-rich atmosphere of Hiroshima. All of the trip planning had been done in advance. At Itsukushima Shrine, they listened with great interest to the discussion of Japanese architecture, and since they were heading to Osaka the next day, I recommended the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum. They also felt there were similarities between Shinto and Mayan civilization. From their accommodation, they had always walked to the JR station, so they were surprised to find that a Hiroden tram station was nearby. Since they wanted to climb Mount Misen, we ended the tour on Miyajima.

    I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first tour in English was as a volunteer guide for the visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

    In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites, the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial & Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima.
    I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud.
    I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. We can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc.

    I am also an official ‘A-bomb legacy successor’ designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors’ experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official ‘A-bomb Legacy Successors. ‘

    What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. It was everyone's first visit to Japan. They had arrived at Narita Airport the previous evening and taken the Narita Express to their hotel. Their stay in Japan was planned for two weeks. After spending four days in Tokyo, they intended to visit Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima, and then depart from Kansai Airport. They said they were looking forward to "experiencing an onsen" and "seeing Mount Fuji." It was a clear day, but the tour took place in strong winds and somewhat chilly weather. First, we went to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. I explained "about the Edo period and the Meiji Restoration," "why the capital changed from Kyoto to Tokyo," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "the current challenges facing the Imperial Family." There were questions such as "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" "Does the Emperor hold political power?" and "Is the Imperial Family respected and loved by the people?" At 10:30, we took a light break at a cafe inside the station. We moved to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine, I again explained "about the Meiji Restoration," "about Emperor Meiji," and "why wine barrels are displayed there." The guests said, "It's wonderful that there is such a green place in the city center. It feels great." We then moved to Shibuya. Since the guests said, "We'd like to eat ramen," we had lunch at a ramen restaurant. The guests experienced the Scramble Crossing and took commemorative photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were questions such as "Why are there so many people here? Are they mostly Japanese, or mostly tourists?" and "What was it like during Halloween?" We returned to Harajuku and went to Takeshita Street, one of the guests' requests. They were surprised by the huge crowds. At a souvenir shop, the guests bought a matcha tea bowl and chopstick rests as souvenirs. The guests also commented, "Japanese people are all so polite." "The streets are so clean. Why is there no litter?" "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." I saw them off at Tochomae Station, where we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Akihabara The guests joined as a group visiting Japan. Some of the guests had roots connected to Japan and had long wanted to visit. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed eating daifuku and looking at a wide variety of ingredients. They seemed amazed by how crowded it was. The group very much wanted to visit the Imperial Palace, so we enjoyed the Fujimi-yagura, the castle tower base, and the Ninomaru Garden. We then moved to Asakusa, and after strolling around Sensoji Temple, the guests wanted to enjoy street food, so each of them had lunch at the food stalls they liked. After that, we walked through the side streets, took the Tsukuba Express to Akihabara, and after I introduced the Radio Kaikan, we parted ways. Some of the guests are big fans of anime. The weather was lovely, and I believe the guests enjoyed the day.
