    What Is a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, and Asakusa I arrived early and waited, and the guests came down to the lobby early as well, so after greetings and an explanation of the itinerary, we set off right away. The guests were very pleasant visitors from North America. At Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, they listened attentively to the discussion of Buddhism and Shinto and had many questions afterward. At Tsukiji, they each enjoyed picking out foods they liked. After that, we went to Nijubashi Bridge and then to the East Gardens. As I gave a brief explanation of the history and the castle, questions came pouring in. We covered the Edo and Meiji periods, and although one of the guests seemed eager to move ahead, the explanation ran a bit longer at their insistence, and they were very pleased. At Asakusa, they listened attentively to the differences from Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple. Of course, there were many questions afterward as well. Overall, the guests were very happy with the tour, which was a relief. They mentioned they would be going to Shibuya the next day. Regarding the uploaded images, they said they would be embarrassed to have their names shown, so I would appreciate your kind consideration on that.

    Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour from Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were staying in Osaka and wanted to visit Fushimi Inari in the morning, so we arranged to meet in front of Nijo Castle. They arrived a little late, as they had come by taxi and gotten caught in traffic. At Nijo Castle, the guests were especially interested in samurai and listened attentively to my explanations. Next was Kiyomizu-dera Temple, but since the guests wanted to experience Japanese public transportation, we decided to travel by subway and city bus. I had planned to get off at Gojozaka, go up from Chawanzaka, and come down Kiyomizuzaka, but since the bus seemed unlikely to make progress from Kiyomizumichi to Gojozaka, we decided to get off at Kiyomizumichi. That may have been a mistake, however, as Kiyomizuzaka was more crowded than I had ever seen, making it nearly impossible to go up, and the guests said they would rather go to Nishiki Market, so we decided to head toward Gion via Sannenzaka. They happily took photos at Sannenzaka, the five-story pagoda of Hokan-ji Temple, and Yasaka Koshindo. While on the bus, I had introduced Yasaka Shrine as the origin of Gion, so I asked whether they wanted to visit Yasaka Shrine, but they said they would rather go to Nishiki Market, so we decided to pass through Yasui Konpiragu Shrine and stroll along Hanamikoji. I also asked whether they wanted to see Shinbashi, but again they said they would rather go to Nishiki Market, so we crossed Shijo Ohashi Bridge and guided them from Kawaramachi to Nishiki. When I explained that the well at Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine is the birthplace of Nishiki Market, they said they could manage on their own from there, so we parted ways a little earlier than planned.

    What's a 4-Hour Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report With no particular sightseeing spots requested in advance, and since the guests would be staying in Kanazawa the following day as well, I covered the main sightseeing spots within the limited four hours while explaining the culture and history of Kanazawa. I also made an effort to explain things in a way that would allow the guests to explore on their own as much as possible. The guests mentioned that Kanazawa had been included in their itinerary on the recommendation of a travel agency. One of the guests, who enjoys bonsai as a hobby, took an interest in the Neagari-no-Matsu (raised-root pine) and the yukitsuri (rope supports protecting trees from snow) at Kenrokuen Garden. I believe the guests enjoyed the tour overall.

A Licensed Guide's Report At first the group was in good spirits, but partway through, some of the guests grew tired, and the others turned their attention to them, making it harder to stay focused on my guiding. Even so, I made sure to explain the important sights thoroughly. That said, I tried my best to keep to the key points only. A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe who had a deep interest in Japanese culture and traditions, and had gathered a great deal of information from friends familiar with Japan before their trip. There was no shortage of topics to talk about, and the conversation flowed pleasantly throughout the tour. In Asakusa, the guests took an interest in a maneki-neko (beckoning cat) shop along Nakamise Street, and after confirming the different meaning of each cat, they purchased a favorite black beckoning cat. At the main hall, they paid their respects politely before purchasing an omamori charm. They mentioned that they had studied Japan's unique customs before arriving. At Tsukiji, the guests happily enjoyed sampling many foods together, including yakitori, wagyu beef, and tuna sushi. They were delighted that every shop was both cheaper and more delicious than what they were used to. At Meiji Shrine, we happened to come across a wedding ceremony. The guests were deeply moved by the bride in a white shiromuku kimono and the attendants dressed in kimono. Since they planned to travel around the country and then return to Tokyo, I introduced a railway route search app and the Hakone Navi website before parting ways.

    What Is a First-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors to Japan? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests arrived from Europe and are traveling around Japan for about five weeks, visiting Tokyo, Nagoya, Matsumoto, Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Nara, Hakone, and the 5th Station of Mount Fuji, partly by rental car. This was their first visit to Japan. Since today was their very first tour in Japan, I helped them purchase a two-day subway pass at the hotel, and then explained how to use JR and subway lines and how to buy tickets. Despite their long journey, they were in good spirits and enjoyed the tour. They seemed interested in temples, shrines, and Japanese customs, culture, and traditions, so at Senso-ji Temple and Meiji Shrine I explained the difference between temples and shrines, the proper way to worship at each, and how to pass through a shrine gate, all of which they learned well. They took many photos at Senso-ji Temple and Meiji Shrine. They also greatly enjoyed the tempura udon and tendon we had for lunch, finishing every bite. In addition, I explained the sightseeing spots in Tokyo worth visiting during their stay from tomorrow, including the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Shinjuku Gyoen (they mentioned an interest in gardens), Shinjuku Godzilla Road, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck, and Ueno Park (they had already purchased tickets for the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno), along with directions on how to get there. On this first day in Japan, the guests seemed to feel they had made a wonderful start and thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

    My name is Nobuo Kokure, and please call me Nobby for short, if you want.
    Let me introduce myself. I was born in Hayama, a beach resort area, Kanagawa prefecture, south of Tokyo. And I’m now living in Saginuma, Kawasaki city.
    When I was a university student, I had the opportunities of doing a home stay with a family In U.S.A., Australia, and England, as a youth exchange student.
    After graduation from the university, I started working at American Life Insurance Company, Japan (Alico, Japan), which is a group member company of AIG, now MetLife Insurance Company. I could have a chance to visit the head office and the field offices of U.S.A., Wilmington in Delaware, New York, Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale in Florida, Los Angeles, while I was working for Alico, Japan (Now, MetLife Insurance company).
    I had been working for MetLife Insurance Company for about 38 years, in total.
    After retiring from the life insurance company, I started working as a tour guide, because I wanted to become a tour guide to introduce culture, history, and manners and customs of Japan in English. It’s so different between my previous job and the guide business, but I like guide business a lot.
    I can meet so many people from all over the world and the guide business has been thriving after the pandemic.
    I have implemented the tour over 240 times, introduced Japan to more than 4900 tourists from 54 countries.

    Not only Tokyo, but I have experienced touring around Nikko, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji & Hakone area, Takayama, Kanazawa, Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Hiroshima, etc. which are all very famous as a tourist spot in Japan.
    If you go on a tour in Tokyo, you must see and visit Asakusa Sensoji Temple which is the oldest Buddhist Temple in Tokyo with histories and Nakamise Shopping Street where you can buy the souvenirs and try to taste Japanese sweets, such as doll cake which is the sponge cake in various shapes filled with red bean paste and Japanese powdered tea ice cream. Another my recommendation in Tokyo to visit is Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya. Meiji Shrine is one of the biggest shrines in Japan with quiet and peaceful atmosphere and magnificent site.
    Harajuku and Shibuya are both fun to visit for shopping and experience the Shibuya Crossing.
    I usually propose my tentative itinerary and ask if my plan is all right with the customer or not. My hobby is traveling around Japan and foreign countries and going to the gym for exercise.
    I would like to work as a guide as long as possible if I’m in good health and my legs are strong, because I love this job.
    I put my importance on the mind of OMOTENASHI which means sincere hospitality, though safety during the tour takes precedence, number one priority, before anything else.

    What Can You See on an 8-Hour Private Tour of West Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first time in Japan, having arrived the previous day, and they planned to spend about four days in Tokyo before continuing on a cruise around various parts of Japan for roughly two weeks. Since they had further tours planned in Tokyo over the following days, we focused mainly on the western side of the city today to avoid overlapping destinations, visiting Tokyo Tower, Shinjuku Gyoen, Shinjuku, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya. Fortunately, we were blessed with fine weather, and the guests enjoyed listening to explanations and taking photos at each spot. At Shinjuku Gyoen, some early-blooming cherry blossoms were out, which delighted them. They said lunch was delicious as well, and they seemed satisfied with the tour overall. It was a long, eight-hour tour, but the guests walked energetically throughout, completing the itinerary without any trouble. At the end, when we returned to the Hotel and parted ways, they gave me some maple syrup from North America as a souvenir.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were an active group who reported having no difficulty with stairs, and although we also used escalators, there were no walking problems throughout the tour. There was a strong request to visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck, and once we went up, the guests seemed very satisfied looking toward Meiji Shrine, which we had visited earlier, and the Imperial Palace, which we would visit afterward. Since lunch was not needed, the guests were flexible on that point, which was helpful. At the Imperial Palace, the Kawazu cherry blossoms were beginning to fade, and since the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms were not yet in bloom, we took photos with the plum blossoms and Kawazu cherry blossoms.

    Title: What's a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Tokyo Tower The guests were visiting Tokyo for the first time, but having already finished a trip in the Kansai region and being scheduled to return home two days later, they were already familiar with getting around in Japan. Blessed with clear skies after a long spell of poor weather, they enjoyed strolling around Asakusa and Meiji Shrine, and were especially delighted by Yoyogi Park, where two early-blooming cherry trees, though just past their peak, were still flowering beautifully. Since preferences varied within the group and no consensus had been reached on what to eat, I took them to a restaurant in Asakusa with a wide-ranging menu. They also enjoyed grilled beef skewers from a street stall along the way, and everyone had a good time with the food. Finally, we walked from Kamiyacho Station on the Hibiya Line to Tokyo Tower and parted ways in front of the reception. As they planned to return to their hotel after Tokyo Tower, I explained that they could take the Hibiya Line again to get back to the nearest station at Higashi-Ginza.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were visitors from North America and Europe who had traveled to Japan after spending ten days in China. Asakusa was already very crowded after 10:00, so instead of walking through the main Nakamise shopping street, we took a side street. Since the guests did not seem to enjoy crowds, I guided them to the Sumida River and to a spot where you can take beautiful photos of the Skytree. The winter cherry blossoms happened to be in bloom, which delighted them. For lunch, we went to a restaurant famous for its chicken paitan ramen. One of the guests had the special chicken paitan ramen and another had the salt ramen, and they were very pleased, saying it was delicious. During the meal, I suggested how to take the bus to Lake Kawaguchi. After that, we visited Meiji Shrine. We were fortunate to see a wedding ceremony taking place, and the guests took many photos. Then we went to Shibuya, where they experienced the Hachiko statue and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. As they were ready to return, I guided them to the Ginza Line and we parted ways.
