What Is a Private Otaru Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Crab, Sake, and Canal Sights On the day of the tour, the weather was not very good and the wind was strong, so the Tenguyama ropeway that had originally been planned for the morning had suspended operations due to the high winds. We therefore gave up on climbing Tenguyama and prioritized the crab that the guests had wanted to eat. The guests had not had breakfast and said they did not mind an early lunch, so they enjoyed crab at Sankaku Market. I also suggested that they could enjoy crab more comfortably at a restaurant, but the guests wanted to eat within the atmosphere of the market, and they were very satisfied. After that, I guided them along the canal and Sakaimachi Street, where they purchased a glass for drinking Japanese sake that had a dragon painted on it. Next, I guided them to Tanaka Sake Brewery Kikkogura, explained how sake is made, and after they sampled the sake, they seemed to like Japanese sake very much and purchased three bottles. Since there was still time, I finally guided them to the Otaru Museum and explained the history of Otaru, which they listened to with great interest. After that, we returned to Otaru Station, and since the guests were planning to travel from Otaru to New Chitose Airport, we said goodbye at Sapporo Station.

A Private Tokyo Walking Tour from the Imperial Palace to Shibuya: A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They enjoyed four days of skiing in Niseko, Hokkaido, followed by a five-day stay in Tokyo. I began by explaining an overview of the history of Tokyo and Japan in the hotel lobby, and then started the tour from the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. After fully enjoying a stroll through the quiet and peaceful East Gardens in the middle of the vast metropolis, we moved on to Omotesando. Turning off the main street into the back streets, we found a calm, upscale residential area, where we took a break at a stylish doughnut shop tucked in one corner. Passing through Ura-Hara and the Takeshita Street area of Harajuku, we experienced the bustle of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, bringing this short but fulfilling tour to a close.

Title: What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the World Heritage Shrines, Lake Chuzenji, and Kegon Falls [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private day tour of Nikko for a group visiting from Asia. The assignment came just two days before the tour. I sent a message through the site right away, but received no reply, so I emailed directly, and still had no response, which left me a little worried. However, since the meeting point and time were already fixed, I decided to go ahead as planned. While waiting anxiously, the guests came down to the lobby — it turned out my email had ended up in their junk folder. After meeting, we discussed the destinations. Originally the plan was to visit only the World Heritage area, but at the guests' request we added Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. Since one of the guests had difficulty walking, we took our time and walked slowly. Everyone in the group was very calm and listened to my explanations with genuine interest. As they were of Chinese descent and Buddhist, many of my explanations were understood very smoothly. At Rinnoji Temple in particular, they drew omikuji fortunes and grew excited comparing their fortunes, and fortunately seemed very charmed by the experience. In the Sanbutsudo Hall, they were interested in the zodiac and each guardian deity, and when they learned that the Thousand-Armed Kannon was the guardian deity for one of the guests' zodiac signs, that guest knelt before the statue, raised both hands, and bowed three times in worship. It was fortunate that it was not crowded. Before the other statues as well, they pressed their hands together and bowed politely. At Toshogu Shrine, since most of the carvings' stories come from Chinese legends, they were delighted, saying "I know this one!" They even taught me the Chinese pronunciations of the names of the main characters behind each motif. After seeing the two shrines and one temple, the guests said they wanted to enjoy some different scenery, so we went to Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls, where they enjoyed both the cold air and the views. However, Lake Chuzenji was so cold that we went into a lakeside café and relaxed with cups of cocoa while enjoying the scenery, which made for a wonderful time filled with all sorts of conversation.

Title: What Can You See on a Private Family Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Akihabara and Asakusa The guests were a group visiting from Asia. Their main requests centered on spots that would appeal to the younger members of the group. Since they had already been to Tsukiji and Meiji Shrine, I recommended Akihabara, Asakusa, and the Imperial Palace. We started in Akihabara, where we spent time until 11:00 enjoying gashapon machines and a 100-yen shop, searching for favorite figures in the Akiba culture scene, and trying hands-on real-life games. After that, we went to a maid cafe they had wished to visit and had some tea. Since they did not take photos or make special requests, I felt the maid service was not especially attentive, so we did not stay long and moved on to Asakusa. In Asakusa, the guests spent about 4,000 yen on fortune slips and charms, and when I explained that such contributions greatly help support the upkeep of the temple, they understood and appreciated it very much. Afterwards, we had a light lunch of soba, and then stopped by a T-shirt shop where the guests did some shopping. Although I had passed in front of the shop many times, this was my first time actually going inside. The prices were not exactly cheap, but the guests liked the items very much and purchased several. It was a good learning experience to see what appeals to affluent travelers. After that, since they wished to return early to prepare for their evening plans, we skipped the Imperial Palace and I saw them off near their hotel. Along the way, they shared where they were from, and as this was my first time guiding guests from that part of Asia, and also my very last guests of 2024, I was grateful to end the year with such a wonderful group.

Hello! I am Kyoko who has been working as a guide since 2017. I was born in Kyoto. So, my name comes from Kyoto which is Japan’s beautiful ancient capital . And “ko” literally means child in Japanese. Thus, my name Kyoko means Kyoto’s child, Kyoko. But some guests call me Kyoto. It’s okay, not a big problem.
But to say the truth, I feel like this, ” Am I like an ancient person? No way~!!…” I am mainly guiding in and around Tokyo. Tokyo has two faces of well-advanced and old-fashioned. So, you can enjoy both high-tech technology and historical culture plus delicious food and drinks, too. You will surely be inspired in this city with me. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you in the near future. Thank you in advance!

Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Osaka Like? Osaka Castle, Shitennoji, and Dotonbori — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Osaka. Everyone listened attentively to the history of Osaka Castle and stories of the Warring States period military commanders. As they bought souvenirs and took photos, we ended up spending quite a lot of time at Osaka Castle alone. Since the guests also wanted to visit Shitennoji Temple, we went there, but the temple halls were already closed, so we viewed them from the outside. However, it was dusk, and the five-story pagoda, main hall, and gates were beautifully illuminated, looking even more stunning than during the daytime. On the way back from Shitennoji to the station, we stopped at a takoyaki shop nearby to eat, then headed to Dotonbori, where we took photos in front of the Glico sign and the crab sign. At an alley beside a temple, the guests poured water over a Fudo statue, and after eating ramen, it was around 8:00 p.m., so the group decided to spend a little more time enjoying Dotonbori before heading back, and we parted ways there.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.

A Licensed Guide's Report Tour Report Date: December 2024 Places visited: Miyajima, Hiroshima Peace Park Guest: The guests Weather: Sunny then cloudy Experiences: Daisho-in cave pilgrimage (Kaidan-meguri), stroll along Maple Road The guests were a group visiting from North America. On the day, based on a last-minute message via a messaging app, the guests wanted to return to Osaka earlier, so the tour time was shortened from the scheduled length. The guests were on a family trip. It seemed they had not been able to do much shopping at other sightseeing spots due to lack of time, so they did a lot of shopping in Miyajima. As they appeared to have their hands full, I carried their souvenir bags for them. Today felt more like being a porter than a guide.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.

As this was during their stay in Tokyo and they had requested a private guide, they expressed a wish to focus on culturally and historically significant destinations. We visited places such as Ueno Toshogu Shrine, Sensoji Temple, and the Imperial Palace, where I introduced the history and culture of modern Japan, including the Tokugawa shogunate and the Imperial family from the Meiji era onward. Title: What's a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Food Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. They were very interested in food and wanted to try many different things, so we arranged time for shopping and street-food tasting on Miyajima, as well as time for shopping at Orizuru Tower in Hiroshima City. They were interested in lemon products and purchased various kinds of lemon-flavored sweets. I also took the group to a restaurant with a view, where we were able to get one of the best seats, and the group seemed especially pleased. They said they love Japan and would like to come back in a different season, particularly in spring.

**Title:** What Is a Full-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like for a Family Group? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. At departure we had confirmed a one-hour extension of the tour, but in reality it ran nearly two hours over, so an additional fee was paid. One member of the group organized and managed everything for the party, and moving the stroller was handled by others in the group. It seemed the roles had been arranged in advance. However, in places with many stairs, one member of the group carried the stroller alone. Since one of the young members of the group spoke only English, everyone spoke to that person in English, while the rest of the conversation continued in a mix of Chinese and English. When excited, they seemed to switch to Chinese. Because there were small children in the group, and because some members walked slowly while others moved about fairly freely, everything took time everywhere we went. I believe they wanted to enjoy the trip at a relaxed pace. The photo was taken at Arashiyama's Togetsukyo Bridge.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.
