Title: What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku Gyoen, the Imperial Palace, and Asakusa The guests were visiting Tokyo from Europe during a cruise. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they enjoyed various kinds of cherry blossoms as well as a wide variety of other plants and the Japanese garden. Both were very knowledgeable and listened attentively to stories about the history of Tokyo and Japan, including the Imperial family. They were also well versed in castles, and enjoyed my explanations of the remaining structures of Edo Castle at the Imperial Palace, including how they differ from Western castles. I took them to a dashi (Japanese soup stock) shop in Nihonbashi, but since they were not fond of fish, we left without eating there. Senso-ji Temple was crowded, but they were delighted with its atmosphere right to the end.

    Tour Report by Mura

Konnichiwa! I’m Mura, your guide in Tokyo and surrounding regions, including Mt. Fuji and Hakone. In a world where technology can provide instant answers, my role is to offer something more—stories, connections, and a deeper experience that goes beyond the surface.
Japan is a mix of old and new, tradition and innovation. You’ll see famous sights, but what really makes a trip special are the small moments—watching daily life, trying something new, or just enjoying the atmosphere. My job is to help make that easier and, hopefully, a little more fun.
This isn’t a classroom, and there’s no test at the end. Feel free to ask questions, take your time, and enjoy at your own pace. Let’s have a relaxed and enjoyable time exploring Japan together!

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, a Sumida River Cruise, and Hamarikyu Gardens The guests were a group visiting Japan from Asia. Some of the guests had arrived the previous night from overseas to join the group. When I asked about future plans, they mentioned aiming to pursue further studies. They seemed to be a very bright group. After departing from the hotel, the guests requested that we confirm and arrange the next day's bullet train tickets in advance, so I guided them to the ticket counter at Shinjuku Station, where they purchased their Shinkansen tickets. After visiting Sensoji Temple, we went on a Sumida River cruise, which the guests had requested beforehand. From Waters Takeshiba, we then proceeded to Hamarikyu Gardens, which they had also requested. They were very delighted by the spacious garden associated with the Tokugawa family and the Imperial family. As shown in the guest photos, the rapeseed flowers were in full bloom, and they repeatedly tried to capture photogenic images. As the schedule progressed more slowly than planned, we parted ways in front of Meiji Shrine.

Welcome to Japan. I hope you are going to enjoy your stay.

    Who am I?
I am a Licensed Guide Interpreter at an age of 61.
I got an early retirement from 36 yrs of the employment in a Japanese financial sector.
I hope I can attend to you with the Japanese politeness, hospitality and smile.

    What can I be expected?
I would like to introduce the photogenic sites, the indigenous experiences
and good Japanese local food around Tokyo, Hakone/Mt Fuji.
I might be able to show you the features of shrine and temple with a religious manner if you’d like.
As a matter of fact, I don’t have a specific religion to believe, though.
I love Japan and that’s why I started a new career as a guide.

    What do I love?
Most of all, my family. I have a wife 56 yrs old, a son 28 yrs old and a daughter 25 yrs old.
I like eating raw fish and sushi, buckwheat noodles and curry rice.

How do I spend my spare time?
I run for 5 km in the morning listening to my favorite music.
I might have a chance to go to a studio program in the fitness club nearby once a week.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
    Thank you.

What Is a Private Day Trip from Kyoto to Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This was a day trip to Osaka from Kyoto. The guests walked quickly, and although I had expected we would need extra time at Osaka Castle, we were able to return earlier than planned. The market at Shitennoji Temple was being held through today, and since the guests enjoy browsing flea markets, they had a wonderful time. They mentioned they have twin grandchildren, and they bought two kokeshi dolls for them. They also took a liking to the turtles at Shitennoji Temple and bought a turtle-shaped paperweight. Admission to the temple halls was free, and they watched the ancestral memorial services and the monks chanting sutras with great interest. They also received a goshuin stamp. They enjoyed a nearby okonomiyaki restaurant as well. The guests blended right into the atmosphere of the old downtown area. At Kuromon Market, they said they wanted to try fugu (pufferfish), and asked the chef several times whether they might be poisoned. After hearing that no one has ever died from the poison there, they ate it with peace of mind. Dotonbori was especially crowded today, and in front of the Glico sign some visitors were singing and dancing, which they filmed on video as well. They seemed to want to avoid the crowds at Osaka Castle, so they looked around each floor briefly, took photos around the area, and listened to a taiko drum performance near the Otemon Gate. After the performance, one of the performers mentioned that gathering many likes on Instagram could lead to appearing at the Osaka EXPO, so the guests were happy to help out. We returned to Osaka Station a little earlier than expected, and the guests said they would relax over some coffee before heading back to Kyoto, so we parted ways at the station.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.

    • 11:45 Sightseeing ②: Nijo Castle

Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kyoto Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle, Arashiyama, and Fushimi Inari The guests this time were a group visiting Japan from Europe. Communication and consultation about the destinations were handled smoothly. Thanks to a courteous introduction and clearly stated destinations, we were able to communicate extremely smoothly. The itinerary was finalized as: "Kyoto Imperial Palace ⇒ Nijo Castle ⇒ Tenryu-ji Temple and the Bamboo Path ⇒ Fushimi Inari Taisha." On the day of the tour, the weather was warm (sometimes even hot), giving the sense that spring had finally arrived, and aside from the cherry blossoms not yet being in bloom, conditions were ideal. For this itinerary, using the subway and JR allows for the smoothest travel, so I had asked the guests to "please be sure to purchase an IC card." Since everyone had already bought SUICA cards, we were able to move between destinations without any loss of time. The conversation between me and the guests during the tour was very lively, and our discussions ranged widely, including talk about each other's families. Of course, the entire group listened attentively to my explanations at each site (such as the relationship between the imperial system and the shogunate, and between Shinto and Buddhism), and I received many related questions. Blessed with fine weather, I was able to spend an enjoyable day with a wonderful group.

Hi, everyone! I’m Norifumi Kamon, a government registered guide interpreter. Please call me “Nori”, or “Kamon-san”.
Let me introdece myself. I was born on April 17th in 1952 in Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. I used to be an English teacher of Osaka Prefectural high school. When I retired from a teacher ten years ago, I decided to get a professional guide license. I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

What Is a Private Sake Brewery Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from North America and moved through the day very smoothly. The guest was a big fan of Japanese sake, and had requested a somewhat unusual selection of sake breweries. The guest listened very attentively and with great interest to the guide's explanations. At every brewery, the guest tried the paid tastings and was very satisfied, also purchasing souvenirs. The guest showed strong interest in the guide's explanation that sake was selected as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage at the end of last year, and that visitors from abroad are likely to increase in the future. Initially, the guest had hoped to enjoy a leisurely tasting at a restaurant within a brewery, so extra time had been allowed for this, but the restaurant was nearly full and everything ended up being "standing-only" style, so we parted ways with an hour and a half of the scheduled time remaining. I mentioned that I could guide the guest to other spots, but the guest wished to continue enjoying sake in the surrounding area.

    Tour Report by Yama

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.

Although they had ridden the pirate ship on their own the day before, today they boarded it again while I shared the legend of Kuzuryu, and they thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent view of Mount Fuji from the Hakone Ropeway. They were also impressed by the legend of Princess Kaguya associated with Mount Fuji. The scenery of Owakudani was unusual to them, and they took many photos while I explained the meaning behind the atmosphere of Owakudani. At the Hakone Open-Air Museum, they enjoyed the beauty and harmony with nature, as well as the panoramic view from the Stained Glass Tower and the early-blooming cherry blossoms. Today they headed to Tokyo by Shinkansen.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour started from the Hotel (the location had been changed from the hotel originally planned). Since the guest had a connection to gold mining work, the group took great interest in observing the final stages of gold leaf production at a gold leaf workshop. Having heard that the group would be staying in Kanazawa for their visit with a completely free day the following day, I made a point of introducing recommended places during the tour. Because the specific medicine the group needed was available only at a drugstore inside Kanazawa Station, the tour ended in front of that drugstore at Kanazawa Station. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

Tokyo Customized Half-Day Tour with Licensed Local Guide

    March, 2025

    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:00 Meet at the hotel
    • 10:50-12:20 Meiji Shrine
    • 12:40-13:30 Shibuya (Scramble Crossing, break at Starbucks, Hachiko, shopping at Bic Camera)
    • 14:00 Hotel

At Meiji Shrine, the guests enjoyed praying and drawing omikuji fortunes, and purchased omamori charms as souvenirs, happily putting them on right away. They were also delighted to come across children in kimono and a Shinto wedding ceremony. With a strong interest in history, they listened attentively to explanations about the differences between Buddhism and Shinto, the Japanese imperial system, family crests, and more. In Shibuya, they walked across the famous crossing and enjoyed the view while taking a tea break at a Starbucks. Along the way, they mentioned they wanted to buy a plug adapter, which they were able to purchase without trouble at a large electronics store in Shibuya. During the train rides, they happily talked about the differences between the trains here and those back in Oceania. The tour ended after seeing them off at the hotel lobby. The guests also kindly covered the guide's transportation costs and tea expenses during the tour.

What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Sanjusangendo, and Kiyomizu-dera The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They had arrived one week earlier and were delighted to have reconnected with a friend living in Tokyo. This was their first day in Kyoto, and with the spring-like fine weather, I believe they enjoyed the entire day. In particular, they were deeply moved by the historical significance and solemn atmosphere of Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo. They felt the same about Kiyomizu-dera, but one of the guests became tired and waited before the stone steps, while the other went to explore the temple grounds. After returning, we walked back to the sightseeing parking area, and at their request, we caught a taxi a little earlier and headed to the hotel. When we parted, they shared their impression that they had a wonderful time. As they planned to visit Arashiyama the following day, I recommended a rickshaw tour, which they were very happy to hear about.

Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Ueno, Asakusa, and Shibuya The guests were a group of friends visiting from Europe. We met at their hotel in Odaiba, and I helped them purchase PASMO cards at the station. It has become much easier now that PASMO can be bought from vending machines. At the Imperial Palace, we entered through the Hirakawamon Gate near Takebashi and exited through the Otemon Gate. As expected, there was a long line for the security check at the Otemon Gate, so our route turned out to be the right choice. On a Saturday during this season, everywhere is crowded. In the East Gardens, we enjoyed a leisurely stroll. Many people from Europe love plants, and the guests took their time appreciating each flower and tree. The cherry blossoms in Ueno were still in bud, but Sakura-dori was full of visitors, and some groups had already begun their hanami parties. I believe the guests were able to feel how deeply Japanese people cherish cherry blossoms. We took a break at a café in Asakusa, and the guests said they did not need lunch. After visiting the temple, they purchased chopsticks as souvenirs on Nakamise-dori. Afterward, they expressed a strong wish to see the Shibuya Crossing, so we headed to Shibuya and parted ways there. The narrow street from Shibuya Station on the Ginza Line to the crossing was very crowded, and I was worried about the guests getting separated, but I was relieved to finish the tour safely.

    Tour Report by YUMI

I’m YUMI. Japan is full of history, nature and culture. I would like to talk about them from many aspects. When you have some questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. There’re many off the beaten paths in Japan. If you want to walk in a hidden local area, I’ll tailor the special course as you wish.
Experiencing new foods is also one of many intriguing things during your trip. I would recommend anything from street foods such as Ramen, Yakitori to authentic Sushi or elegant courses. My policy is to cherish your feelings and time. Let’s enjoy talking and walking with me!
