Kyoto in Half a Day: Fushimi Inari Taisha

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:30 Meet @ Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae
    • 9:50-9:55 Kyoto – Inari 150 yen JR
    • 10:00-11:00 Fushimi Inari Taisha sightseeing

    • Stroll through the Bamboo Grove Path・Tenryu-ji・Kimono Forest・Togetsukyo Bridge
    • 13:30 Lunch @ Arashiyama Yoshimura (after being shown to our seats and ordering, we'll excuse ourselves)

What Is a Private Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama Tour in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. The full party was divided into smaller groups, and I was in charge of one of them, whose itinerary covered Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama. We first visited Fushimi Inari to see the thousands of torii gates, then moved on to Arashiyama, where we visited Tenryu-ji Temple. When I explained the characteristics of the Japanese garden and the philosophy of Zen, the guests listened attentively. One of the guests had lived in Japan for some time and was fluent in Japanese, and while I was explaining Daruma dolls, they said, "That's 'nanakorobi yaoki' (fall seven times, get up eight), isn't it?" This surprised me and lightened the mood in a friendly way. Next we strolled along the Bamboo Grove path, then enjoyed the colorful displays at the Kimono Forest, where the guests took many photographs. At the Togetsukyo Bridge, we admired the lush natural scenery of Arashiyama. For lunch, the guests requested soba, so I took them to a nearby soba restaurant in Arashiyama.

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like in Winter? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They seemed to be acquaintances of someone I had guided on a previous tour. Although it was a cold time of year in January, the weather was excellent, and it was warm enough to break a sweat while walking, making it a perfect day for the tour. I took the group to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji Temple, and each member of the group enjoyed different places. Some of the guests liked Kiyomizu-dera Temple best, while others preferred Kinkaku-ji Temple. For lunch, the guests enjoyed okonomiyaki. Some of the group also had sake, and although it was their first time trying okonomiyaki, they seemed to enjoy it very much. The various sites were crowded and getting around on packed buses may have been a little tiring for them.

What Does a Private Day Tour of Kyoto's Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. The group got along very well and had a strong interest in Japanese culture and scenery, so the day of sightseeing had a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere throughout. The first stop was Fushimi Inari Taisha, where we strolled through the Senbon Torii and enjoyed taking photos, while the guests asked eager questions about the shrine's history and Japanese culture. We then moved on to Arashiyama, where we took in the quiet scenery along the Bamboo Grove path. At Tenryu-ji Temple, the guests listened with interest to explanations about the characteristics of Japanese gardens and the differences from Western gardens, and they seemed to greatly enjoy the beauty of the garden. After taking photos at the Togetsukyo Bridge, we took the Hankyu line back to Shijo Kawaramachi, where I guided them to a restaurant for dinner, and they appeared to be very fond of its distinctly Kyoto-style atmosphere.

What Is a Private Guided Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report We were blessed with good weather. The guests were a kind and cheerful group, one enjoying photography, and they repeatedly told me how much fun they were having. At Miyajima, they took a variety of photos — of the deer, the torii gate, and scenery they found very Japanese — and each time they were considerate about whether it might affect the flow of the tour. We canceled the okonomiyaki lunch we had originally planned and instead had a light meal at the Andersen bakery near Hiroshima Station. Since the guests had not yet visited Shukkeien Garden, we ended the tour in front of Shukkeien, and because they wished to have shabu-shabu for dinner, I assisted with the reservation before concluding the tour.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!

What Is a Two-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Yesterday they had a Kyoto tour with a different guide, and today was their second consecutive day of touring Kyoto. It was their first visit to Japan, and they had traveled through Tokyo and Hakone before coming to Kyoto. They mentioned that afterward they would be heading to Hokkaido for about a week of skiing. When I arrived at the Hotel about 15 minutes before the meeting time, they were already in the lobby, so we were able to meet without any waiting. I gave a brief overview of today's itinerary, and we set off. One of the guests was very tall, over two meters in height, and seemed to have some trouble with their knee, walking with a slight limp, so I made an effort to choose routes that would put as little strain on their legs as possible. Both of them appeared to be very interested in Japan, and throughout the day they found things that caught their attention and asked many questions. What was especially memorable was their great interest in roof tiles, as well as their interest in religion in Japan. Wherever we went, they listened very attentively to stories about Buddhism and the worship of the gods. The weather was fine throughout the day, and the guests seemed very pleased. They both said the highlight was the unique rakan statues at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple. Before exploring Kinkaku-ji, they said they were a little hungry, so at a stand near the temple they enjoyed roasted sweet potato, mitarashi dango, meat buns, karaage, and matcha soft-serve ice cream. After exploring Kinkaku-ji, we took the bus to Kyoto Station, and from there we took a taxi to Rokkenbashi near the guests' Hotel, where we parted ways.

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour Including Asakusa, Ueno, and Nakano Broadway? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was one person visiting from North America. Initially, the plan was to guide them around Asakusa and the Tokyo National Museum, both near their hotel, in the afternoon. However, since I learned that they wished to go shopping at Nakano Broadway, I first took them to Asakusa and Ueno. Around Ueno Station, restaurants are always crowded on weekends, but since it was a weekday, I was able to quickly find a reasonably priced tonkatsu restaurant. The highlight of this tour was Nakano Broadway in the afternoon. The guest was fond of vintage wristwatches and was especially a fan of Seiko. Although there were only small shops on the first floor of Nakano Broadway, Jackroad on the third floor, which handles parallel imports, had a rich inventory. It took some time, but the guest was able to purchase an item they were satisfied with. I explained how to purchase Shinkansen tickets at Ueno Station, then saw them off at their hotel where they were staying, and we parted ways.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

For dinner, they asked me to make a reservation at an okonomiyaki restaurant, so I offered some options, and they chose Mitchan, so I booked Mitchan. Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Family Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Skytree The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They were traveling with lively young children, and I did my best to help so that the trip would go smoothly for everyone. We first went to Tsukiji Market. While gently steering them away from buying expensive items like the pricey wagyu skewers tempting them with their aroma, they enjoyed shumai and steamed pork buns, and afterward we visited Namiyoke Shrine. Since they mentioned they liked sushi, we left the market a little early and had lunch at a sushi restaurant. As they had a reservation for Tokyo Skytree until 2:30 PM, I hadn't planned to spend too long in Asakusa, but the group got very excited and were delighted to each get toy swords and shuriken. After that, I saw them off at Tokyo Skytree and we parted ways.

Hello! I am Kyoko who has been working as a guide since 2017. I was born in Kyoto. So, my name comes from Kyoto which is Japan’s beautiful ancient capital . And “ko” literally means child in Japanese. Thus, my name Kyoko means Kyoto’s child, Kyoko. But some guests call me Kyoto. It’s okay, not a big problem.
But to say the truth, I feel like this, ” Am I like an ancient person? No way~!!…” I am mainly guiding in and around Tokyo. Tokyo has two faces of well-advanced and old-fashioned. So, you can enjoy both high-tech technology and historical culture plus delicious food and drinks, too. You will surely be inspired in this city with me. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you in the near future. Thank you in advance!

What Is a Private Winter Tour of Hirosaki, Aomori Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This was my first tour of the year. In the midst of heavy snowfall, I guided a group visiting from Oceania around Hirosaki. Because the JR Ou Line service from Aomori was at risk of being suspended due to snow-related disruptions, we stayed overnight in Hirosaki beforehand. The guests, who had first come to Japan in 2019, were now visiting for the second time. This time, they came to Aomori because they wanted to see the snow. We fully enjoyed the historic city of Hirosaki. Since the guests followed a vegetarian diet, we had lunch at a long-established soba restaurant. We paid our respects to the head priest at Saishoin Temple. The head priest, Mr. Fuse, remarked that I resembled him. Because one of the guests had lost their JR Pass for inbound visitors the day before, we headed to a police box in Aomori. The guests were deeply impressed by the very kind response they received. I learned that in their home country, traffic accidents are reported to the police, but accident handling is carried out by the fire department, with many people participating as volunteers in firefighting duties, making it one of the most respected roles among the public. I explained how extremely busy Japanese police officers are. Fortunately, we found out that the JR Pass had been turned in to the police station. Since the guests were to take the first bullet train the next morning to Tokyo and return home that afternoon, the police, even though it was outside regular office hours, arranged for the pass to be received quickly — and remarkably, they even gave us a ride to the station in a patrol car. The guests commented, "The most respected profession in Japan must be the police officer!"

    I live in Aomori city.
I already visited more than 30 nations so far.
After official retirement from the public officer, I could have the Japanese Government Licensed Guide Certificate and am nowadays very pleased to guide overseas tourists all over the world.
Did you know that the Fuji apple is not from Mt.Fuji…but is actually from Aomori Prefecture’ Fujisaki town. Aomori is proud of the biggest apple product in
Japan. We provide 40 apple-pie restaurants to guests.
Let’s enjoy real Japanese culture and history with me. I would enjoy with you real Samuri history, Kimono culture, local traditional festivals, castle,
Japanese garden, temple, shrine, Japanese tea ceremony, food and Sake.
I often go to the local sea food and vegetable markets and eat fresh foods and would love to show you some secret, hidden restaurants that only Aomori locals know about – let’s go on an adventure together.
If you like sushi and fresh seafood, let me introduce to Nokkedon ?
What is it? Come to Aomori and find out! I am waiting for you.

Can You Do a Private Winter Tour of Yamadera in Yamagata? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Asia. They had previously visited the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Kinki region of Japan, but this time they chose winter Yamagata because they very much wanted to enjoy the snowy scenery of the Tohoku region. Their winter Yamagata golden course was Ginzan Onsen, then a climb at Yamadera, then viewing the snow-covered trees (juhyo) at Zao, and the guide request was for the middle day, in the Yamadera area. According to the guests, there are three seasons in their home region, but all of them are Hot, Hotter, and Hottest, hot all year round, so a winter "snowscape" was something they longed for. Their sole purpose for this trip was simply to enjoy the snowy scenery stretching in every direction. In that sense, Yamagata was blessed with abundant snow this year, and the guests were deeply moved by the snow-covered landscape they saw from the train windows during the journey. They were also impressed by the massive rocks towering within the precincts of Risshaku-ji Temple that seemed to repel the snow as seen looking up from the platform of Yamadera Station, and by the divine, ink-painting-like beauty of Godaido Hall jutting out from the cliffs.
