A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine The guests were a group visiting from the Middle East and now living in North America. Their stay this time was in Tokyo only. It happened to be the first day of the rainy season, but the rain mostly stopped partway through, and I think it was more comfortable than being under strong sunshine. At Tsukiji they enjoyed ice cream, and in Asakusa they had sweet potato treats. On the west approach in Asakusa, one of the guests bought a haori jacket bearing the triple-hollyhock crest, as well as trousers at a clothing store. At Meiji Shrine, one of the guests drew an omikuji fortune, and they enjoyed the waka poems composed by Emperor Meiji. Visiting Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, Namiyoke Shrine, Sensoji Temple, Meiji Shrine, and the Ninomaru Garden, I could sense that they were sightseeing with genuine interest in and respect for Japanese culture. They seemed very satisfied.     What Is a Private Rainy-Day Tour of Nagasaki Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests enjoyed the tour. Since there was quite heavy rain on the day, I adjusted the itinerary accordingly. Originally we had planned to visit Mount Inasa in the afternoon, but because of the rain and the poor visibility it caused, I decided to go to a different destination instead. I also changed our destinations as needed throughout the day, watching how the rain developed at each point. Whenever I made a change, I explained it to the guests and obtained their agreement. At the Atomic Bomb Museum, they observed the exhibits about the damage very attentively. The group was traveling with young children, and appropriate conduct within the museum was carefully guided. At the Hypocenter Park, they were interested in how the hypocenter had been identified, and at the Peace Park they showed interest in the meaning of the pose of the Peace Statue. After lunch, we cancelled the visit to Mount Inasa and I guided them to Meganebashi Bridge. They were interested to learn that Meganebashi Bridge and the group of stone bridges around it were built in the early 17th century by a Chinese monk. They were also very impressed when I explained the method the city of Nagasaki adopted when these stone bridges were restored after being destroyed in the great flood of 1982. (For disaster prevention, it would be preferable to widen the river, but widening it would make it impossible to rebuild the stone bridges in their original positions, so an underground culvert was constructed along the river so that floodwaters flow into it during high water.) The river had risen due to the rain the previous day, but that water did not flow to the area of Meganebashi Bridge, so the water surface remained calm, and they were very impressed to see the reflection of the bridge on the water. At the end of the itinerary, I guided them to the Hamanomachi shopping arcade, and they were surprised when I explained that the origin of this shopping street dates back to the late 16th century, when Nagasaki was designated as a place for overseas trade.

    What Is a Rainy-Day Private Garden Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather forecast had predicted rain all day, which was a concern, but it turned into a tour where the guests could fully enjoy the flowers, including the irises, in the light rain. The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. I arrived early at the meeting Hotel and sat at the corner of a sofa in the lobby, when two people who sat next to me began eating bento lunches they had bought at a convenience store. I inwardly thought they were probably not staying at the Hotel, but a little later, when I tried to make contact via a messaging app, it turned out that these were exactly the guests for this tour. They had just arrived at the Hotel from the airport and had not yet checked into their room. Part of the group did not speak English and another would interpret, but since Spanish came out naturally, at the guests' request we basically proceeded in Spanish, except for more complicated matters. This suddenly allowed us to chat freely about all kinds of things. The guests had planned this trip to Japan partly as a celebration, and after a few days of sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to travel around various parts of Japan by cruise ship. They had originally requested a focus on gardens and parks. Starting with the pine trees at the plaza in front of the Imperial Palace, at the East Gardens they were delighted by the bamboo grove, the irises, and the long-finned koi, taking many photos. At the Meiji Shrine inner garden, they were amazed by the fully bloomed irises in an iris field on a scale far greater than that of the East Gardens. After that, due to time, we skipped Shinjuku Gyoen, which had originally been planned, and instead enjoyed shopping in Harajuku. On Takeshita Street the guests bought a few items and also enjoyed crepes. They could not find the anime figures they had originally been looking for; we visited toy and character goods shops and asked the staff, but unfortunately were not able to obtain them. However, they were able to find and buy cosmetic products they had wanted even before coming to Japan at a drugstore near Takebashi Station, and I believe they were satisfied. I explained how to get to the character theme park they planned to visit the next day, and finally saw them off as they transferred from one subway line to another, so that they could return without any trouble to the Hotel near Hatchobori Station.

    **Title:** What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, Tsukiji, and Asakusa **Body:** This is a report on a private one-day Tokyo tour I guided for guests visiting from Europe. In their advance messages, the guests asked to visit as many places as time would allow, and asked whether the tour start time could be changed on the day if their flight arrived at Haneda earlier than expected. Since transportation delays are always possible and I wanted to avoid rush hour, I gently proposed keeping the original 11:00 start time, and the guests kindly agreed. When we met on the day, we reconfirmed the itinerary and began the tour. At Shinjuku Station, for convenience, the guests purchased a "Tokyo Free Ticket" (¥1,600 per person). One of the guests had visited various parts of China many times and had in fact just returned from China before this trip to Japan. After touring several areas of Japan (Tokyo → Kyoto → Osaka → Hiroshima → Tokyo), the guests planned to travel to Portugal and Spain right afterward. In Kyoto they were scheduled to experience a tea ceremony accompanied by a maiko (or perhaps staff dressed in maiko costume), in Osaka they planned to join a food tour, and in Hiroshima they of course planned to visit the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Peace Memorial Museum, and similar sites. While chatting about many topics, including tips for the places on their itinerary, we made our way smoothly through the refreshing light early-summer rain, visiting Meiji Shrine → Shibuya Crossing → Tsukiji Market. At Tsukiji, the guests took a break with a light meal at a sushi restaurant. While waiting during the tour, I shared recommendations for their upcoming destinations with the guests via a messaging app. Perhaps because of the light rain, Asakusa also had slightly fewer worshippers than usual. On Shin-Nakamise Street, at the Funawa main store, the guests each bought an ankodama sweet (matcha and mandarin flavors), and unexpectedly I was kindly offered one of the sweet red bean ones to share as well; however, both guests did not seem to care for the texture. I was impressed by their enthusiasm to try anything in a place they were visiting for the first time. We arrived at the ticket gate of Asakusa Station on the Asakusa Line and parted ways with smiles.

    What Is a Private Car Tour of Tokyo Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a family group visiting from North America, on a private car tour of Tokyo arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). The guests were very friendly and pleasant to be with. Although it rained that day, it was not much of a problem since it was a tour with a car. The Nezu Museum, which the guests had chosen, seemed to require a reservation, so I suggested in advance that they book ahead. At 10:00 in the morning the line was not very long, but reserving allowed for smoother entry, which worked out well. One of the guests was studying Japanese and Chinese and showed great interest. The building is refined and not too large, and it also has a Japanese garden, so it was a good choice. Afterward I took the guests to the large Don Quijote in Shibuya, where they enjoyed shopping. For lunch I brought them to Hikarie, where they chose a restaurant and enjoyed Japanese cuisine. At Meiji Shrine we entered from the front and had the driver wait at the north parking area, which allowed us to move smoothly. Since it was raining, I considered an alternative to Hamarikyu, and because the guests liked arcades, we went to Nakano, where they enjoyed a different side of Japanese streets and shopping arcades. They bought taiyaki and a hat. On the way back, we drove through Shinjuku to see the Godzilla Head, then passed through Jimbocho and Akihabara, enjoying the drive before returning to the hotel. On arrival at Haneda the previous day, the hired car they had reserved apparently failed to show up, causing some trouble, but today they said everyone was happy, and we parted with a hug at the end.

    What's a Private Day Tour from Himeji Port Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Himeji Castle and Mount Shosha This was a request from cruise ship passengers whose ship was docked at Himeji Port. Since Himeji Castle was expected to be crowded with passengers in the morning, we headed to Mount Shosha first. Even though it was difficult to walk in the rain, the guests kept up well. They loved the aesthetic atmosphere and took many photos. For lunch, they ordered a lot at the restaurant I recommended. With rain coming and going throughout the day, the guests enjoyed strolling through Kanazawa's back streets during the breaks in the weather. The guests explored while pushing a stroller, and they especially liked the small paths leading from Otebori through Shirotori-ji to Kenrokuen, as well as the back streets lined with old houses near the Higashi Chaya District. Also, right after meeting at the Hotel, the guests were very pleased because the day before they had not been able to find a place to buy baby food, so they asked the guide where to buy it and were able to go get some. After eating the baby food, the young member of the group became very lively and happily ate udon at a restaurant in Daiwa. For lunch, the guests requested a place where they could eat sushi and sashimi, that was spacious, and that had safe seating suitable for a small child, so I chose a restaurant with a great view on the 7th floor of the Daiwa department store.

    Title: What's a Private Kyoto Tour with a Geisha Experience Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America who wanted to take photos in beautiful scenery before their geisha experience, so we chose the single-plank bridge over Shirakawa, the Sanmon gate of Chion-in, and Yasaka Shrine. Although a light rain was falling, it actually gave the willows along Shirakawa a more atmospheric charm, which I felt was lovely and which the guests also enjoyed. During the geisha experience, they were a little stiff at first, but as time passed they began to ask many questions and engage in lots of conversation, all of which I interpreted. By the time they played a traditional ozashiki game (Konpira Fune Fune), they had become quite relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

    What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of visitors from North America. Although it was pouring rain, the tour proceeded smoothly. They were traveling on a cruise ship that had arrived at Himeji Port. I received a message via a messaging app saying that taxis from the cruise terminal were unavailable for a long time due to congestion, so they would be a little late, and we started the tour about 15 minutes behind schedule. The guests seemed very pleased with the panoramic view of Himeji Castle from the rooftop of Egret Himeji. After that, the rain grew heavier, and since their raincoats alone were not enough to cope with it, they purchased umbrellas. At Koko-en Garden, despite the heavy rain, they enthusiastically took many photos and enjoyed themselves. At the final stop, Himeji Castle, there were not that many visitors overall, but perhaps due to the heavy rain, there was a very long line at the entrance to the main keep. With about 45 minutes remaining, the guests said they wanted to have lunch on the cruise ship, so we ended the tour a little early.

    I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good

At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines and about the Kaminarimon Gate, and they purchased T-shirts with Japanese designs at a shop near Senso-ji. Although it unfortunately rained today, I responded to the guests' wishes as requested, so I believe they were satisfied.
