    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. Some of the group had visited Japan about 30 years ago (though only Osaka), while others were visiting Japan for the first time. This time they chose Japan as the final destination of a South Pacific cruise, staying in Tokyo for about a week before flying home. They had arrived at Haneda by air the previous evening and taken a taxi to their hotel in the rain. Going forward, they planned to watch baseball at Jingu Stadium and to observe morning sumo practice. The group walked at a gentle pace, so the tour proceeded slowly. In contrast to the previous day, the tour took place under clear skies. However, being a holiday period, everywhere was extremely crowded. We first went to Asakusa. From the front of Kaminarimon Gate, it was very crowded. I explained about "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos in front of Kaminarimon Gate and the five-story pagoda. There were questions such as "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?", and "Do people go to temple every week?" They purchased a "traffic safety" amulet. We strolled through the very crowded Nakamise shopping street. There was a question about the beckoning cat: "What does it mean?" We then moved to the Imperial Palace. We strolled through the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. There were comments such as "It's a shame we can't see the cherry blossoms" and questions like "When do the cherry blossoms reach full bloom?" I explained "the history from the Edo period to the Meiji era," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "why the capital moved from Kyoto to Tokyo." There were also questions such as "Does the Emperor of Japan have political power?" and "How were the stone walls built?" We moved to Harajuku and went to Meiji Shrine. I explained about "Shinto," "the torii gate," "Emperor Meiji," "the history of Edo and Tokyo," "the Meiji Restoration," and "why wine barrels are displayed there." There were also questions such as "When did Shinto originate?" and "Who or what is enshrined at a shrine?" Afterward, we strolled along the very crowded Omotesando. We then went to Shibuya. First, we walked across the scramble crossing, then took photos looking down from the entrance to the Keio Inokashira Line platform. There was also a question: "Why do so many people gather here?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were comments and questions such as "The streets are clean, with no litter," "There are no homeless people to be seen," and "Why are there no trash cans in the streets?" We returned to Shinjuku by hired car and parted ways at the hotel driveway.

    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like for Shopping in Ginza, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Shimokitazawa? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. They had arrived at Narita Airport a few days earlier and taken a taxi to their hotel. They were staying only in Tokyo, and outside the city their only plans were a day trip to Mount Fuji and a visit to Disneyland. The main purpose of their visit was sightseeing in Tokyo combined with shopping for secondhand clothing and pre-owned brand-name items. Up until the previous day, they had done all of their Tokyo sightseeing by taxi. The tour took place under clear skies, though it was quite windy. Starting from Daiba Station, we first headed to Ginza, which they had said they very much wanted to see. We strolled through Ginza Mitsukoshi and other stores, and they carefully checked the prices of brand-name goods. From there, we moved to Shinjuku. After walking around Kabukicho and the surrounding area, we visited several shops selling pre-owned brand-name items and checked the prices. Every shop was packed with international visitors. The guests commented that it was difficult to find exactly what they were looking for. After that, they said they wanted to eat ramen, so we went to a ramen restaurant. We then moved to Shibuya. After experiencing the Scramble Crossing, we again visited shops selling pre-owned brand-name items and carefully checked the prices. From there, we moved to Shimokitazawa and browsed a secondhand jeans shop, again checking the prices. The guests remarked that the secondhand items sold in Japan were kept in beautiful condition and were reasonably priced. They said they planned to return to Shinjuku and Shibuya the next day to purchase the items they had their eyes on. They also made several comments and asked questions, such as: "The streets are so clean, with no litter — completely different from back home." "Doesn't anyone throw trash on the ground?" "There are no homeless people around." "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" Since they said they were not sure how to use the subway, I saw them off at Daiba Station, where we parted ways.

Another member of the group had been expected to join but had to cancel just before the trip due to a sudden illness, so the guests came on their own. The main purpose of this visit to Japan was a three-week round-Japan cruise departing from the Tokyo International Terminal, starting the day after next. The guests said they were looking forward to meeting relatives in Hakodate. Unfortunately, the tour took place in the rain. First, we headed to Asakusa. Despite the rain, it was very crowded. I explained about "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what a five-story pagoda is," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took a commemorative photo in front of Kaminarimon Gate. There were questions such as "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "What do other people believe in?", and "How often do Buddhists go to temples?" The guests purchased a good-luck charm for recovery from illness. We strolled leisurely through the Nakamise shopping street. There was a question about the meaning of the maneki-neko (beckoning cat). We moved to Tsukiji. This too was very crowded despite the rain. We first visited "Tsukiji Uogashi" and then went to the outer market. I explained about "the history of the fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji outer market." We browsed various shops and ended up sampling fresh oysters. There were also questions such as "Why are there so many people here?" and "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" We moved to Harajuku. First, we visited Meiji Shrine. I explained about "Shinto and Buddhism," "torii gates," "Emperor Meiji," "the history of Edo and Tokyo," "the Meiji Restoration," and "why wine barrels are displayed there." There were also questions such as "When did Shinto originate?" and "Who or what is enshrined in a shrine?" After this, we strolled through the crowded Takeshita Street. We headed to Shinjuku. There was a request to have sushi during the day, so we went to Tsukiji Sushisei for a late lunch. The guests said they were very satisfied with the price and freshness.     Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Before an Ocean Cruise Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who came to Japan to join a cruise departing from Tokyo that would call at various ports, including Busan. They stayed one night at a hotel in Tokyo and, after the tour with [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), moved by shuttle from the hotel to the cruise ship anchored in Tokyo Bay. This was the first visit to Japan for all in the group. One of the guests had studied about Japan in advance and even referred to Shinto deities as "Kami," asking many questions about the historical Japanese tradition of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism. The others in the group took many photographs and clearly enjoyed the experience of Japan's distinctive cultural environment.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? They also wanted to exchange a QR code for Odakyu Line tickets, so we visited the Odakyu Line ticket office to handle that as well. After that, we went to the Tsukiji Outer Market, visited various shops, enjoyed some strawberries, and then moved on to Asakusa. We walked through Kaminarimon and Nakamise, and the guests took photos, saying that the Hozomon gate, the five-story pagoda, and the main hall were beautiful. Since they had enjoyed okonomiyaki before in Hiroshima, they wanted to have it again, so we went to a restaurant where they enjoyed modanyaki and teppanyaki. We passed through Kappabashi and moved on to Meiji Shrine. They seemed very surprised to find it surrounded by such a beautiful forest. As it happened, a spring festival was taking place, and they were delighted to be able to hear a biwa performance. The weather was fine, and I believe they had an enjoyable time.

At Engyoji Temple, they also purchased a protective charm. Himeji Castle was very crowded, and admission inside was partially restricted, resulting in a wait of nearly 30 minutes. At the final stop, Nadagiku Sake Brewery, the group enjoyed a tasting (with one of the guests having the non-alcoholic "amazake"). I presented one of the guests with a handmade drawstring pouch, which was very warmly received.

    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Skytree, Koishikawa Korakuen, and Sensoji Report Body: The guest was a solo traveler visiting from Europe. Beforehand, I had informed them to reserve Skytree in advance, and I also sent an email the day before to confirm their arrival, but there was no response. Regarding the purchase of SUICA/PASMO cards that I had mentioned in advance, this is no longer an issue nowadays, so I did not bring it up. After arriving at the hotel, since I could not reach the guest by email, I tried the in-house phone and was able to get in touch. The guest seemed quite reserved, and it was difficult to communicate. When I asked, they said they had received the email but did not know what to do, so they had done nothing. As expected, the Skytree reservation had not been made. When I checked the previous day, the 12:30 slot that we had planned already had few tickets left, so we decided to go to the site and check in person. We arrived just before noon, but the 12:30 tickets were not available, and we barely managed to get a 16:00 slot. When I said, "I will wait for you at the 5th-floor exit," the guest replied that they felt uneasy going alone, so they also purchased a ticket for me. This had been arranged well in advance, but it had not been fully understood. The guest showed me photos of themselves performing in a band, but in person they gave a completely different impression. In the end, to fit the 16:00 Skytree slot, we moved up the pre-arranged visits to Koishikawa Korakuen and Sensoji Temple. However, since it was during the Golden Week holidays, places such as Solamachi were extremely crowded, which made getting around very difficult. There was little I could do about it myself, and I was left wondering whether the guest was fully satisfied. The next day, the guest planned to go out to various places based on the Tokyo Travel Guide I had provided. The day after that, they planned to visit Lake Kawaguchi, then continue to Kyoto, and later return to Tokyo.

The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Title: What Is a Private Full-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and Asakusa We started from the hotel ten minutes ahead of schedule. Meiji Shrine, our first stop, happened to be holding its spring grand festival, so the guests were able to catch a glimpse of the kagura dance near the main hall, which they were delighted by. We then moved on to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, where the guests were impressed by the massive stone walls of the former Edo Castle. Along the way, one of the guests became tired, so we took a ten-minute rest on a bench in the Ninomaru Garden. After arriving in Asakusa, since tempura had been requested for lunch, I took the guests to Sandaikin next to Kaminarimon. After a leisurely lunch break of about an hour, we strolled around Asakusa. Since one of the guests wanted to buy a kanzashi hair ornament, I took the group to a specialty kanzashi shop near Nakamise Street. Having found a kanzashi they liked, the guest was in high spirits. Although we had planned to part ways at Asakusa Station, the guests asked me to ride the train with them partway, so we boarded the Ginza Line together, went as far as Ueno Station, and there I got off and said goodbye.

    What Is a Private Day Trip to Hirosaki Like? A Licensed Guide's Cherry Blossom Report I guided guests from North America, visiting Japan for the first time, on a private day trip to Hirosaki. They enjoyed a relaxed journey on local trains. They were deeply moved by the cherry blossoms at Hirosaki Castle, which they had truly wanted to see. When they saw the little "mini koinobori (carp streamer) flag" I had brought along for sightseeing guidance, they asked what it was and said they wanted it as a souvenir for their grandchild, so I gave it to them. They said they would display it by their poolside at home. On the train back, one of the guests showed me a photo of a "hand towel decorated on a white background" that their father had received during the Second World War from a Japanese prisoner of war with whom he had become very close at a Japanese POW camp on Guam. Their father had reportedly kept it very carefully. After returning home, they said they had a small request and would send me photos of the Japanese POW items.
