    Can You Do a Private Walking Tour of Koyasan's Temples? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came from a region with a Buddhist cultural background, so they explored the interior of Kongobuji Temple with great interest. Because the rooms inside Kongobuji Temple tend to become gradually crowded, we began the tour with this visit. Regarding the Mani Treasure Pagoda, while not academically precise, I spoke about the Theravada Buddhist culture of Southeast Asia and the history of the Japanese military's invasion during the Second World War. In the pitch-dark basement, the guests enjoyed the attraction of "seeing Buddha within hell." After walking partway along the approach to Okunoin, we stepped out onto the street for a while and had a late lunch at Tenpu Terrace. They liked its open atmosphere, the number of seats, the variety of the menu, and the staff's ability to communicate in foreign languages. Since the guests' lodging was Yochiin temple lodging, after visiting the Tokugawa Mausoleum, we took a shortcut over the mountain and finally toured the Danjo Garan complex before parting ways.

    I grew up in the mountain village. I learned many things from my family, especially my grandmother. I can give you many interesting experiences in the wild nature. We eat wild strawberries or “Sukanpo ” the edible grass, fly ferns or cross a suspension bridge.
    I walked all of Kumano Kodo, Koyasan pilgrimage roads and other ancient highways, total length is more than 600km ( 400 miles).
    I want you to show the interesting spots beyond the guide book. Kii mountain range has old history as well as beautiful land scapes. I’ll take you the excellent places you can do Facebook bragging.
    My experiences for guiding foreigners are, town of Koyasan, pilgrimage road to Koyasan, Kumano Kodo Nakahechi, hot springs, Shingu city and Nachi Katsuura town, Kushimoto area, Shirahama area so on.

    Title: What's a Private Shopping-Focused Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Akihabara, and Takeshita Street The guests' hotel was conveniently located near Tokyo Station, but because the lobby is on the top floor, it sometimes causes confusion. This time I had let them know by email that I would be waiting in the lobby on the 15th floor, but it seemed they had not noticed the message, so the group was waiting near the entrance on the ground floor. Just as I was about to go down to check the ground floor, one of the guests came up to the 15th floor, so we managed to avoid any trouble. So that everyone in the group could enjoy the day, the spots chosen were all places where shopping could be enjoyed. Recently at Tsukiji I often have lunch at the fish market dining hall, which is popular because even those who are not fond of raw fish can enjoy dishes like mixed fried food and chicken noodle soup. In Akihabara they did not end up making any big purchases, but since they were planning to stay in Tokyo for a few more days afterward, I hope it served as a helpful reference. After showing them around Takeshita Street, I saw them back to the Hotel and we parted ways.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like With a Licensed Guide? A Report on Shinjuku, Shibuya, and the East Gardens The guests came down to the lobby early, so we were able to meet up smoothly. Since they had Suica cards, we traveled between Shinjuku Station and Shibuya Station on the Yamanote Line. The guests were a refined group. As they had not yet seen the Scramble Crossing, I showed it to them before we took the subway. Among the spots they wanted to visit, only the East Gardens were located separately, so I first took them to Otemachi and then we returned to Shinjuku. For lunch I chose a restaurant inside a department store building, and although we had to wait a little, I believe they enjoyed a traditional Japanese lunch. All the afternoon spots were close to their hotel, which was helpful as I did not have to worry about travel time. At the end I saw them back to their hotel before we parted ways. Please note that the admission fee for Shinjuku Gyoen was paid by the guests, so it is not included in the reimbursement expenses.

    Title: What Is a Private Family Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tokyo Tower, Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, and Skytree The guests were a group visiting from North America. Prior to the tour, they had requested visits to Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, Meiji Shrine, and Tsukiji, and I had asked the guests to make the reservations for Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree themselves. At the meeting point, I reviewed the itinerary again before starting the tour. One of the guests, visiting Japan for the second time, had Japanese roots but did not speak Japanese and was very fond of Japanese rice crackers. One of the guests had trouble with their knee, so I made sure to walk slowly and use elevators and escalators whenever possible (though in the subway one always has to walk to wherever the elevator happens to be located). The group had arrived via Kansai Airport and had already finished sightseeing in Kyoto, and the day before they had joined a food tour in Shibuya (they enjoyed many things, but some of the guests said the texture of the octopus in takoyaki was not to their taste). Some of the guests had spent time in Africa. Several of the guests were very interested in food and asked me questions such as "Where can we eat omurice?" and "Where can we find good fluffy pancakes?" In two days they were scheduled to join a 10-day cruise visiting various parts of Japan (Aomori, Hakodate, Kagoshima, and others) as well as Jeju Island in Korea. At Tokyo Tower, they spent about an hour and also bought souvenirs (they discovered Soka senbei rice crackers at the souvenir corner on the second floor! I recommended them, and they immediately purchased five bags). After guiding them through Meiji Shrine, one of the guests wished to leave and head straight back to the hotel, so I saw them safely into a taxi at the taxi stand near JR Harajuku Station, and then guided the remaining members of the group to Tsukiji. Although their jet lag seemed to have worn off, because it was a packed family tour, some of the younger guests looked rather sleepy. At Tsukiji, they sat down inside and took their time enjoying wagyu skewers, wagyu burgers, and ice cream, and then we headed to Skytree Town. Since their entry reservation was for 4:00, they said they would try to find a restaurant serving omurice until then, so after confirming the Skytree entrance, we parted ways with smiles.

Everyone in the group was deeply moved by the Chino Chaya and the beech forest, where snow still remained. The guests spoke a little Japanese, and when asked "Benjo doko desu ka?" (Where is the restroom?), the guide sensed a connection to Japan in the question. There was also a conversation about how certain names would be written in kanji. When asked how names such as Kasai, Oshita, Yoko, and Honjo are written, the guide offered some possible kanji versions, while noting that many variations exist and that it was difficult to say which characters would correspond to each family's actual surname.

At Osaka Castle Park, they were moved by the sight of the castle tower standing amid the grandeur of the Okawa River, the outer moat, and the inner moat. They mentioned that they had visited Nijo Castle in Kyoto, and since the overall fortress structure of the castles differs, we strolled around while talking about the historical background of Nijo Castle and Osaka Castle, as well as the relationship between the Tokugawa and Toyotomi, and they took many photos. In Shinsekai, they enjoyed the retro streetscape and the atmosphere of old downtown Osaka, including Billiken. At Kuromon Market and Dotonbori, they said the contrast between the downtown skyscrapers and the historic old-town charm was impressive. Finally, we went to an anime card shop that one of the guests was looking for, and then we parted ways.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: Since the guests planned to travel to Kyoto the day after the tour, they first wanted to know how to get to Kanazawa Station by bus, so we headed to Higashi Chaya District via Kanazawa Station first. The guests were visitors from Europe, and since one of them did not understand much English, the tour proceeded with translation between the guests. As a result, each stop took longer than usual. During the tour, one of the guests was troubled by coughing and a runny nose, but as it was not a cold and seemed to be some kind of allergic reaction, we stopped to purchase medicine at a pharmacy in Korinbo along the way. The guests enjoyed the tour.

    Title: What's a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo Like With a Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. This was the first visit to Japan for one of the group, while another had previously been to Yokohama. At the start of the tour, the group wanted to arrange train tickets for travel to a regional area, so we walked to Tokyo Station and I assisted them at the JR ticket office (Midori-no-Madoguchi). After visiting Kyoto and Osaka, they wanted to take a trip to Fuji-Q Highland, and hoped to travel there and back to Tokyo by bus. I also helped coordinate and arrange the use of the Narita Express (NEX) to connect smoothly with their return flight. As luck would have it, the ticket office on the Yaesu side was not crowded, and the staff kindly and patiently assisted us, so we were able to obtain all the tickets that could be issued at the counter, which gave the group great peace of mind. They were delighted, saying, "On my own, I would have wasted time standing in line at the Yaesu-side ticket office." At Tsukiji, one of the group, who loves sushi, thoroughly enjoyed fatty tuna and salmon nigiri, but since another was not fond of fish, the two shared a wagyu beef skewer steak, which they found very delicious and satisfying. When I introduced takoyaki, one of the group hesitated and instead ordered ice cream, which they happily finished. Meanwhile, another spotted a curry bread nearby and was very satisfied, exclaiming, "This is so delicious!" One of the group loves dogs, and the Hachiko statue in Shibuya made a big impression, so they promptly bought a Hachiko plush toy as a souvenir at the tourist information center. They asked me how to say "Do you like dogs?" in Japanese, so I taught them the pronunciation of "Inu wa suki desu ka?" Throughout the tour, every time they looked at me, they repeated the phrase with an innocent expression, and each time I smiled and replied "Perfect!" In the end, I advised them to record it on their smartphone so they wouldn't forget, and they made the recording at a cafe in Meiji Jingu. They were very sincere and charming guests. Initially, after the tour they thought they might go to Tokyo Dome, so I explained how to get there from Tokyo Station, but their plans changed and they wanted to revisit the micro-pig cafe on Takeshita Street they had been to the day before, so we said goodbye in Shibuya.
