    What Is a 6-Hour Private Walking Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. It was very fortunate that the group was able to walk at a good pace throughout the tour. One member had formerly worked with hydraulics, and I assumed this meant expertise in waterpower, but it turned out to be expertise in hydraulic pumps. I learned that while "hydr-" comes from Greek meaning "relating to water," in English it is used for fluids in general. The guests also listened very enthusiastically to the history of Buddhism and Shinto. I was able to give detailed explanations, which was rewarding. One member of the group had grown up in Europe, right near the castle that served as the setting for The Sound of Music. Another family member who did not join the tour had, as a child, often been asked by Japanese tourists to pose for photos together. "There must be photos all over Japan!" I talked non-stop for six hours — what a workout! It was a wonderful and lively day.

    Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
    I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
    After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
    I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
    What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had come to Japan after being encouraged by a family member who had traveled here earlier and enjoyed it. After meeting at the hotel, [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guided the group first to the nearby Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, where I introduced the projection mapping and the observation decks and recommended a return visit, before heading to the Tsukiji Outer Market. Since it was right after breakfast, they could not eat much, but they enjoyed a beef skewer and matcha ice cream. A festival happened to be taking place at the adjacent Namiyoke Shrine, so we watched it, and I explained the difference between temples and shrines and how each has influenced Japanese culture. We then continued to Higashi Honganji Temple, where the group experienced the contrast between shrines and temples firsthand, and they said this helped them clearly understand something that had previously confused them. One of the guests worked as a teacher and had some knowledge of Japanese history, so at the Imperial Palace in particular I explained the imperial family while describing how Japan reached its present form through the Edo period, the Meiji Restoration, and the postwar era. After experiencing the busy Shibuya Crossing, crowded on a Saturday, we visited Meiji Shrine, where we were fortunate enough to see a wedding ceremony taking place, which delighted the guests greatly. The tour was originally planned for four hours but was extended by one hour to five hours at the guests' request. Finally, they wished to visit the Godzilla building in Shinjuku, so we extended the time further before ending the tour.

    Can You Do a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour with a Wheelchair? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had arrived in Japan two days earlier and had spent the previous day at Tokyo Disneyland (traveling by taxi). Today was their first time using the train. The next day they were scheduled to board a cruise ship for a tour visiting various places in Japan and somewhere overseas (they were not entirely sure where). Today was their only free day. During the pre-tour arrangements, the requests were "packed to the brim," including Pokémon MEGA (Ikebukuro) and lunch at an animal café on Takeshita Street. However, as we discussed things further, it turned out that simply seeing Takeshita Street would be enough. The adults wished to visit historical places, which led to the itinerary above. However, when I met the group at the Hotel, I learned that one of the guests required a wheelchair and needed assistance getting around. Had I known this in advance, I might have been able to plan the route a little differently. That said, Tokyo's subway and JR stations are well equipped with barrier-free facilities, and as long as you allow enough time, a wheelchair can be accommodated almost everywhere. Since it was Saturday, some parts of the Tsukiji Outer Market were not passable by wheelchair. Still, some of the guests thoroughly enjoyed strawberry candy and strawberry daifuku. Since transferring from Ginza Station to the Imperial Palace was difficult, we walked to Yurakucho and took the JR to Tokyo Station. Around this point, some of the guests were beginning to run low on energy. At Meiji Shrine, we had a meal at Forest Terrace before visiting the main hall, and everyone became much more energetic. However, some of the group who had taken turns pushing the wheelchair were tired, so we skipped Takeshita Street and moved to Parco, where the Pokémon Center is located. The Hachiko exit at Shibuya Station was so crowded that it took about ten minutes just to pass through, and moving with a wheelchair was challenging, but we managed. We confirmed the way onto the Rinkai Line and then parted ways.

    I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
    After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

    I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like for Business Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were officials visiting from North America. They were in Japan on a business trip, so today was their only free day. Learning about their background, I broke the ice at the start by apologizing, as a Japanese citizen, for a past diplomatic discourtesy at an earlier G7 meeting. This helped everyone relax and open up. One of the guests had gotten food poisoning during a stopover before arriving in Japan, so it became a tour where we were always mindful of the location of restrooms. Even so, they enjoyed eating sushi with great delight. At the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa, one of the guests bought a fairly large backpack and was amazed at how inexpensive it was. It's nice that the Shin-Nakamise area still doesn't have tourist-inflated prices. The pond and irises at the inner garden of Meiji Jingu looked beautiful in the rain, and everyone was deeply moved. We were running behind on time, but it was well worth stopping by. Since it was an auspicious day on the calendar despite the rain, we even came across a traditional Shinto wedding ceremony. As some of the guests were involved in education-related work, there was much conversation about "education," which is often cited as one of the factors behind Japan losing its international competitiveness.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were cruise passengers, a group who had become friendly with each other during the voyage. As they came from different backgrounds, it was quite a diverse group. Because one of the guests needed to use exits with elevators, moving between locations took longer than planned. The guests very much enjoyed the atmosphere of Meiji Shrine. They also praised the lunch at a grilled-fish specialty restaurant in Kagurazaka, calling it a "Great choice." After Korakuen, the weather turned rainy, but the Japanese irises at Korakuen were in full bloom, which delighted the guests greatly. Since I knew in advance that this would be a group who might need extra care, I confirmed by email beforehand whether anyone had difficulty walking, but I did not receive a reply. Because they were a group who had met during the cruise voyage, I believe they still felt some reserve toward one another and did not share personal information about the members. However, when planning a tour, it is essential to accurately understand how much walking is manageable, so from now on I will clearly explain this point and ask guests to provide such information.

At the Imperial Palace, the irises in the East Gardens were at their peak, which the guests greatly enjoyed. Since we started an hour earlier than planned, we were able to finish the sightseeing without being caught in heavy rain. The guests listened very attentively to my explanations, which made it very easy to guide them. After seeing Tokyo and Kyoto in Japan, the group planned to travel from the Kansai area to visit relatives abroad, continuing on to other destinations in Asia.

    **Title:** What's a Private Group Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace East Gardens, Asakusa, and Harajuku **Body:** The guests were a group visiting Japan. This private day tour, arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), started at 8:00 when I met part of the group at their hotel in Azabu-Juban. A bus was waiting in front of the hotel, so I explained the day's itinerary inside the bus. We then picked up the rest of the group from another hotel nearby, bringing the total to a single group, and I explained the day's plan to the second part of the group as well. Since the Imperial Palace East Gardens (Higashi Gyoen) open at 9:00, I had the bus drop us off at Tokyo Station. There I explained the architecture and history of Tokyo Station. From there we walked to the Otemon Gate, arriving at 9:00. I explained the history of Edo Castle, the design of the Ninomaru Garden, the tea house, and the carp, and the guests listened with great interest. Next, we spent about 50 minutes in Asakusa, where I talked about the history of Senso-ji Temple, the five-story pagoda, and the historical blending of Shinto and Buddhism. We then went to Shinjuku Gyoen. As it began to rain a little, we stopped at a cafe along the way for some matcha ice cream and strolled while I talked about the history of Naito Shinjuku. At 1:10 p.m., I guided the guests to the entrance of Takeshita Street and said goodbye. They were truly delighted. The guests said they wished to part ways at Takeshita Street. I offered to show them around Takeshita Street, but they said they would prefer to go wherever they liked, so we parted there.

    Title: What's a Private Tokyo Tour Like from Asakusa to Meiji Shrine and Shibuya? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests had asked in advance for tips on how to use Tokyo's public transportation, so I gave a short explanation before we set off on the tour. Because some of the guests enjoyed anime, I arranged the schedule so that, after visiting Asakusa and Meiji Shrine, we could take photos at the Hachiko statue as requested and end the tour in Shibuya. Although it was a weekend, we were fortunately able to take photos at the Hachiko statue without waiting in a long line. For lunch, I guided the group to the underground food hall of Hikarie, which is relatively uncrowded during the daytime, and they were very pleased. We ended the tour there.

    Can You Do a Private Tsukiji and Toyosu Fish Market Tour in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, four in total. Some of the guests had visited Japan eight years earlier, while others were coming for the first time. Early this morning, they arrived at Haneda Airport on a direct flight via London and took a taxi to their accommodation. The main purpose of this visit was to board a 12-day cruise around Japan departing from the Port of Tokyo the day after next, with plans to disembark in Seoul and return home. One of the guests enjoys fishing as a hobby and had extensive knowledge about fish, and had very much wanted to experience a fish market and sushi. Although it was cloudy, the tour went ahead without any rain. We first set off from the Seafood Wholesale Building at Toyosu Market. I explained the history of Edo/Tokyo fish markets since the Edo period, the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market, and the tuna auction. There were many questions, such as: "Where does most of the tuna come from?" "What are the prices?" "Who is allowed to participate in the auction?" "How much does a single tuna cost?" "Is there a price difference between fresh and frozen tuna?" and "Why are the tails of the tuna cut off?" We took photos in front of the tuna statue. We moved to the Intermediate Wholesalers Building, but unfortunately many shops had already closed. There was also a question: "Why can't we go inside here?" After walking around the Fruit and Vegetable Building, we headed to Tsukiji. We first strolled through Tsukiji Uogashi, and then went to the outer market. Despite it being the afternoon, it was extremely crowded, and everyone seemed a bit overwhelmed. The whole group had lunch at a restaurant. One of the guests ordered two set menus and finished them completely. Afterwards, we strolled leisurely through the market, sampling and purchasing items such as dried squid and kelp. There were also comments such as: "Japanese people are all so polite," "The streets are clean and there is no litter," and "There is no subway where we come from. The Tokyo subway is systematic and very well designed." I saw them off at Tochomae Station, where we parted ways.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.
