    What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. This was a 12-day trip to Japan. After arriving at Haneda Airport, they went straight to the Kansai region, touring Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, and arrived in Tokyo yesterday. After this, they planned to stay in Tokyo for a few more days before returning home. Both of them were big fans of Japan. Under cloudy skies, unlike the previous days, the first half of the tour was in weather that did not feel too hot, but the latter half was hit by intense heat. First, we went to the Imperial Palace. I explained about "the history of Edo," "the history from the Edo period to the Meiji era," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "why the capital moved from Kyoto to Tokyo." There were questions such as "What happened to the shoguns and samurai after the Meiji Restoration?", "Does the current Emperor of Japan have political authority?", and "Who will be the next Emperor?" We moved to Tokyo Tower. We went up to the main deck and walked around inside. Unfortunately, we were not able to see Mount Fuji. The comments were, "There really are so many tall buildings," and "I now understand well that Tokyo is a vast, sprawling city." Because of the extreme heat, we took a break at a café along the way. After this, we moved to Shinjuku Gyoen (there was a request to "see a Japanese garden"). Inside the Japanese garden, they took photos in many places. The comments were, "Japan has so much greenery, so it feels calming," and "Japanese gardens are truly relaxing." We moved to the west exit of Shinjuku and strolled through the Kabukicho area. Then to Shibuya. First, we took photos looking down at Scramble Square from the entrance of the Keio Inokashira Line platform, and then actually crossed the intersection. There was also a question, "Why do so many people gather here?" There were comments and questions such as "It is so quiet inside the subway," "Japanese people are all quiet and polite," "The streets are clean and there is no litter," and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" There was a request to "stroll around Shibuya at a leisurely pace after this." We parted ways at Shibuya Station.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    What's a Private Naoshima Art and Architecture Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest's accommodation was changed the day before the tour from Naoshima Town in Kagawa Prefecture to Tamano City in Okayama Prefecture, which caused a bit of a scramble. The reason was a mix-up with the JR lines: instead of transferring to the Uno-Minato Line, the guest had stayed on the Seto-Ohashi Line. When traveling solo, such things can understandably happen. I was relieved to meet the guest safely at the accommodation in Uno. Although we started about 45 minutes later than the originally planned tour start time, we were able to explore very energetically. Based on our earlier email exchanges, I had thought the guest was extremely intelligent. The guest walked at a remarkably fast pace, and I could barely keep up. I later learned that, according to the guest's smartwatch, we had walked about 14 kilometers that day, and I suddenly felt the fatigue set in. That distance is comparable to the outer circumference of Naoshima. Under a blazing sun with temperatures reaching 36 degrees, we managed to complete the day safely after taking measures against the heat. The guest's interest lay more in architecture than in the artworks themselves, and they observed the design of the museums in great detail. The guest mentioned wanting to own a second home in Southern Europe in the future and seemed to be envisioning its design — apparently imagining a residence like a museum. Looking back, in just one day we visited 11 architectural sites alone. Adding the artworks installed here and there around the island, we visited more than 20 locations. At this pace, most guests take two days for such a tour, but even though it was busy, we were able to have a very efficient tour, and the guest seemed highly satisfied.

    What Can You See on a One-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Shinjuku The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. All of the guests were vegetarian and were staying in Japan for a short period. Until the previous day they had been at Disneyland/DisneySea, then moved to Shinjuku the night before. They were scheduled to depart from Haneda Airport the following evening. Their request was: "Today we would like to see as many spots in Tokyo as possible in a short amount of time." It was a humid tour under cloudy skies. I conducted the tour at a relaxed pace, adjusting to the group and taking breaks many times. From Shinjuku Station, we first headed to Asakusa. As usual, it was crowded with large numbers of visitors. Starting from in front of Kaminarimon Gate, I explained "Senso-ji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took a commemorative photo in front of Kaminarimon and strolled slowly along the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?" We took a short break at a coffee shop. We moved to Harajuku and visited Meiji Shrine. I explained "about Shinto," "about the torii gate," "about Emperor Meiji," and "why wine barrels are displayed there." There were questions such as "What kind of teachings does Shinto have?", "When did Shinto originate?", and "How many shrines are there in Japan?" We rested for a while at the cafe terrace near Meiji Shrine. We also strolled along Takeshita Street. Then to Shibuya. First, we looked down on Scramble Square from the entrance to the Keio Inokashira Line platform and took photos, then actually crossed the intersection. There was also a question: "Why do so many people gather here?" We took photos in front of the Hachiko statue as well. At the request of one of the guests, an anime fan, we visited the Pokemon Center at Shibuya Parco. From here we moved to Shinjuku. I explained "the origins and history of Shinjuku" and "the difference between the east and west sides of the station." We walked around and explored Kabukicho, the Godzilla Head, and Omoide Yokocho. One comment was, "This place feels different from other neighborhoods." There were also questions and comments such as "I felt Tokyo is a clean city and extremely safe even at night," "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?", "I think the Tokyo subway is very well designed," and "The public restrooms are wonderful." We parted ways at Shinjuku Station.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Akihabara The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. They had arrived in Tokyo three days earlier and had already seen the main highlights, so for their final day they requested places they had not yet visited. This private one-day Tokyo tour was led by a government-licensed guide from [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). At the Imperial Palace and Nijubashi Bridge, I explained the history and significance of the Imperial Palace and the Japanese Imperial Family. We then visited Yasukuni Shrine, where I explained the meaning and role of Shinto shrines as well as the position of Yasukuni Shrine. One of the guests, who was deeply impressed by Japanese culture, said they had gained new knowledge and were very interested, and wanted to study Shinto by watching videos as soon as they returned to the hotel. At Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, the guests were surprised by the enormous crowds, but the group enjoyed sampling a variety of street foods together. Finally, at the request of one of the guests, we headed to Akihabara, where I introduced several shops and gave advice so they could find what they were looking for. In the evening they planned to watch a sumo show in Asakusa, so I explained the location and how to get there, and the tour came to an end.

    What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They had already traveled to places such as Hokkaido, Osaka, and Hiroshima, and were scheduled to return home that night. Some of them were visiting Japan for the second time. There were many places they wanted to see, and I was worried about whether we could cover them all, but with the driver's cooperation, we managed to visit everything. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed daifuku and salmon nigiri sushi. In Asakusa, they enjoyed the atmosphere of Nakamise. Since their food preferences differed, it was nice that they could each order what they liked at a family restaurant. In Akihabara and Ginza, I gave brief explanations and then allowed free time so that they could visit the shops they each wanted to see. In Shibuya, they experienced the crossing and viewed it from Starbucks, and in Golden Gai, they were surprised by the atmosphere but enjoyed it. We rushed through the itinerary, but I believe they enjoyed themselves.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Hakone Day Tour Without the Ropeway? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a cheerful group who kept the day full of laughter. Since one of the guests preferred to avoid the ropeway, the itinerary was focused on the Hakone Open-Air Museum, a marquetry crafts shop, and the sightseeing pirate ship. At the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the group enjoyed the foot bath together, and I took photos of the whole group at various spots. At a rice-bowl teahouse, they had a delicious meal and took a photo together with the staff. During the meal, I gave a simple introduction to some basic Japanese phrases, which made the conversation lively. The presentation of traditional marquetry woodwork was a novelty they greatly enjoyed, and they also did some shopping. On the pirate ship, everyone stayed out on deck and took in the natural scenery of Lake Ashi. When we arrived back at Togendai on the way home, the ropeway happened to be out of service due to a mechanical failure.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were very interested in Japanese history and culture, and were big fans of a historical drama set in Japan. Since they wanted an authentic Japanese experience, I took them to a restaurant where you can enjoy proper yuba (tofu skin) cuisine while viewing a garden from a room in the shoin-zukuri architectural style, which is a little pricey but genuine. They were delighted, and their questions about Japanese culture were endless. Afterward, I took them to Toshogu Shrine, and they were deeply moved by its overwhelming beauty. When we then visited Kanmangafuchi Abyss, the group became very interested in the Jizo statues and asked many questions.     What Is a Slow-Paced Private Family Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the East Gardens, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku The guests were a group visiting Japan for essentially the first time from North America. One of the guests mentioned having visited Japan once about 30 years earlier. Having arrived in Japan only the day before, the group was feeling the effects of jet lag as well as the summer heat and humidity, so we took a slow-paced tour with occasional breaks in cool places. At our first stop, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, the guests were greatly impressed by the contrast between the remains of the former Edo Castle and the surrounding modern buildings. After visiting Meiji Shrine and Harajuku, since they had had a late breakfast, we had a late lunch as well, which they enjoyed.

    What Does a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, Harajuku, and Shibuya The guests were visitors from North America, both visiting Japan for the first time. This time they were on a two-week trip to Japan. The previous evening, they arrived at Haneda Airport via a connecting flight, then took a taxi to their hotel. After staying in Tokyo for a few days, they plan to visit Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima, and then return home after coming back to Tokyo. The previous night they strolled around Ginza and enjoyed yakiniku. It was a tour under hot and humid conditions. From Ginza Station, we first headed to Tsukiji. The guests said, "We're looking forward to eating sushi, so we skipped breakfast," so we first went to a sushi restaurant. They enjoyed a large amount of sushi. After this, we went to the Tsukiji Outer Market. I explained "the history of Tokyo's fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market." We also purchased and sampled grilled eel, Kobe beef skewers, and strawberry daifuku. There were questions and comments such as "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" and "It's crowded, but it seems like there are many tourists." We moved to Asakusa. As always, it was crowded with large numbers of people. Starting from the front of Kaminarimon Gate, I explained "the history of Senso-ji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos in front of Kaminarimon Gate and slowly strolled along the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?" We moved to Harajuku and visited Meiji Shrine. I explained "about Shinto," "about the torii gate," "about Emperor Meiji," and "why wine barrels are displayed." There were questions such as "What kind of teaching is Shinto?", "When did Shinto originate?", and "How many shrines are there in Japan?" We also strolled along Takeshita Street. Then to Shibuya. First, we took photos looking down at Scramble Square from the entrance of the Keio Inokashira Line platform, and then actually crossed the scramble intersection. There was also a question: "Why do so many people gather here?" We took photos in front of the Hachiko statue as well. There were questions and comments such as "Tokyo felt like a clean and extremely safe city, even at night," "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?", "I think Tokyo's subway system is extremely well made," and "The public toilets are wonderful." I saw them off at Ginza Station, ending the tour.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity.
