What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama and Kinkaku-ji Today I guided a group visiting from North America. They were traveling on a cruise ship starting from Tokyo, and had already seen Tokyo, Mount Fuji, and other sights. First, we went to the Arashiyama Monkey Park, which the guests enjoyed. As expected, they were delighted with feeding the monkeys. After that, we moved on to a tonkatsu restaurant near Kinkaku-ji. I believe they were pleased. Around that time there was a heavy downpour, but fortunately the rain had stopped by the time we reached Kinkaku-ji. It was also raining heavily while we were traveling by bus afterward. From inside the bus, they were able to see the preparations for the Gion Festival, which they seemed very interested in. Finally, I guided them to Gion's Hanamikoji Street and Tatsumi Bridge to conclude the tour. Since we walked quite a lot, some of the guests may have been tired.

Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like on a Rainy Forecast Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a friendly group visiting Hakone. Although the forecast had predicted rain all day, it started under cloudy skies with a bit of sunlight peeking through. The group had been hoping to see Mount Fuji, but unfortunately it was not visible; still, the weather was quite cool and the day was pleasant and enjoyable. Perhaps because of the poor weather forecast, there were few visitors, and the group was able to relax so much that they had the foot bath at the Hakone Open-Air Museum almost entirely to themselves. The ropeway was also nearly empty, which is rare these days. According to one account, this may have been partly due to false rumors about an eruption. It is unfortunate that some people spread such baseless rumors, and I also felt it was disappointing that the tourism operators made little visible effort to counter them.

Title: What Is a Private Full-Day Tokyo Tour Like for a Group? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. We discussed the plan in advance, and the itinerary was decided based on their requests. The destinations were spread out to the east, west, and north, which made travel between them somewhat difficult, but we were able to visit a variety of areas including the city center, and the guests were very satisfied. Because the tour took place during extreme summer heat, there was some concern about physical fatigue, but we were able to complete the planned itinerary. At one point during the day, one of the guests felt unwell and took some medicine to recover, but the tour continued at their wish. I learned that one of the guests had a deep interest in Japan and hoped to study at a top university in Japan and eventually settle here in the future. It was charming when they began speaking to me in Japanese toward the end of the tour. The group was happy that everyone had successfully completed the planned itinerary. Title: What's a Private Osaka Castle Tour Like When Plans Shift? A Licensed Guide's Report The plan agreed with the guests was to begin the tour after their kimono experience and lunch. However, the timing shifted, and at the meeting point the guests were still wearing kimono and had not yet had lunch. I accompanied them to the kimono experience facility, waited while they changed out of the kimono, and then guided them to lunch. At Osaka Castle, the guests viewed the exhibits inside with great interest. By the time we left Osaka Castle, the scheduled tour end time had arrived, so I shared some photo spots, walked with them to the taxi stand, and concluded the tour there. I was unable to guide them around the planned Namba area.

Hello, my name is Mizuho Yoshikawa. Please call me Mizu and my name means rice and water in Japanese.
I’ve been a tour guide more than 200 times since the spring of 2023 in Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama and Kochi. My tour is always original and new, depending on the guest’s preferences, encounters, seasons and weather.
In Kyoto, one of my tours is to climb Mt. Kurama. It is about 1 hour from the city of Kyoto by train, it is a very quiet and beautiful mountain.
In Osaka, which is called the kitchen of Japan, I am also in charge of food tour.
In Nara, in addition to the Great Budda Hall, I guide guests to the temple with a really great view and Japanese wine, sake tasting.
Every city has a unique charming point.
The motto of my guiding is ” Ichigo Ichie” Once in a lifetime or seize the day. I learn this concept that the moment will never be the same again through tea ceremonies.
I like a tea ceremony that is part of the traditional Japanese culture and embodies the spirit of “omotenashi” or hospitality. Through the tea ceremony, we can feel the spirit of “omotenashi” that has been passed down to us from ancient times.
And I like to travel abroad and domestically, and I have been to 13 overseas countries and most of the prefectures in Japan. Traveling always gives me a new perspective, which is exciting and thrilling. Nowadays, we can learn a lot from the Internet, but traveling teaches us that it is important to have direct experience. When I travel, I feel that my five senses are infinitely expanded, and through my tour, I help all guests to have the same feeling in Japan.
I was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is next to Tokyo Prefecture in eastern Japan. When I was little, I could see Mount Fuji from my backyard. There was also a rice field nearby, and I grew up listening to the croaking of frogs. Listening to the frogs and seeing the mountains made me feel very calm.
I moved to the city of Kobe, one of the Kansai areas in western Japan, which includes Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and so on. I’m not from the Kansai area of western Japan, but I think that makes me sensitive to the differences between that area and the Kanto area, Tokyo, where I grew up.
Speaking of Kobe, you might be thinking of Kobe beef. Of course you do. There are also other sake breweries in Nada in Kobe. You can also go from Kobe city to Himeji Castle, also known as the White Egret Castle, which was the first in Japan to be listed as a World Heritage Site in 1993.
Let’s meet and enjoy Japan together!

    • Around 11:45 End of the tour

What Is a Private Osaka Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shitennoji, Kuromon Market, and Dotonbori I guided the guests, who were visiting from North America and Asia. The morning began with rain, but by the time we borrowed umbrellas at the Hotel and stepped outside, the weather had cleared, and since the umbrellas were black, they were used as parasols. They had just arrived in Japan and mentioned that Japan and their home region were about equally hot. At Shitennoji Temple, we watched a monk chanting sutras and saw the Jizo statues and the large Amida Nyorai statue. We did not enter the temple halls but took photos of the five-story pagoda from outside. They rubbed the Binzuru statue all over and made wishes, perhaps hoping to have their ailments healed. At Kuromon Market we took photos together, but since the Hotel breakfast had been lavish, they did not seem hungry yet, so we walked on to Dotonbori and poured water over the Fudo statue at Hozenji Yokocho. I introduced several famous local foods and was about to move on to Umeda, but they said they would like to walk around a little more and head back on their own, so I explained how to return to Umeda on the Midosuji Line, and we parted ways. It was more than an hour earlier than planned, but perhaps they simply wanted some time to themselves.

Hi! I’m an official English guide in Wakayama prefecture. I’m also a national guide as well. I’d like to expand my guide area to help tourists.
The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city, the nature of Koyasan will relax you.
I will introduce you to the unique culture, history and must-see sights.

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Osaka Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle and Kuromon Market The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They had arrived at Kansai International Airport the day before and were on a 20-day trip through Japan. We first went to the JR ticket counter at JR Osaka Station to issue their JR Pass, then strolled a little around the Grand Front Osaka area before moving on to Osaka Castle. At Osaka Castle, I explained the history of the Siege of Osaka and the transition from the Warring States period to the Tokugawa era, and the guests were deeply impressed as they viewed the outer moat and took many photos. At Shitennoji Temple, a relic-offering memorial service happened to be taking place, and the guests took part, receiving a sacred relic placed upon their heads by a priest, which moved them greatly. After that, we moved on to Namba and Kuromon Market, and parted ways at Nipponbashi.

Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.

A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Shibuya, and Harajuku In line with the guests' wishes, we visited Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and Takeshita Street in Harajuku, and the guests were very satisfied. Along the way, we were caught in a heavy storm on Takeshita Street and waited for a while to see if it would pass, but as the storm did not let up, we had to give up on the planned visit to Shinjuku Gyoen. The guests were delighted, showing interest in both the history of Japanese culture (the Kaminarimon Gate and Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa) and the new youth culture. What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour of Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Akihabara? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The guests seemed to love eating and drinking. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed daifuku, strawberry ice cream, tuna sushi at a specialty tuna shop, matcha ice cream, and beer. As they also enjoy cooking, they purchased a kitchen knife. After that, we went to Asakusa, where we visited Sensoji Temple, Nakamise Shopping Street, and the five-story pagoda, drew omikuji fortunes, purified themselves at the water pavilion, and prayed at the main hall. We passed through the Nishi-Asakusa area and took the Tsukuba Express to Akihabara. In Akihabara, we went to the Radio Kaikan, where the guests enjoyed gashapon machines and purchased some goods, and from Akihabara we returned to the Hotel by taxi. I was born and grown up in Tokyo, and still living in western suburb of Tokyo with my wife, except for 10 years outside of Japan travelling and living in 60 countries. So I might have visited your country and still remember a few words.
Japan has unique history, nature and culture, and there are plenty of secrets and wonders behind them such as food culture, Zen and Ninja.
So please explore and discover the hidden and most beautiful part of Japan together. Let’s experience!

What Is a 4-Hour Private Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from South America. They seemed very interested in history and culture, but they prioritized a request to spend a considerable amount of time visiting an aquarium. Since the types of fish were different from those back home, they appeared to enjoy it very much. My own reflection is that while there is no problem during an 8-hour Hiroshima and Miyajima tour, fitting in an aquarium visit is difficult in the case of a 4-hour Miyajima tour.

Hi, nice to meet you! I am Emmy. I am so honored and happy to be your guide.
I had been teaching at a local university in Hiroshima. After I got retired in March 2023, I started guiding. I was born and raised in Hiroshima. I love communicating with people all over the world more than anything, so I have been involved in home visit, homestay, volunteer guide for people from foreign countries.
I always hope that our guests will take away lots of positive energy from Hiroshima, a city that was resilient and revived like a phoenix, in spite of its sad history.
While realizing customers’ wishes, I will introduce you the beauty of Hiroshima, Miyajima and so on, which are tranquil and peaceful places with a unique charm that cannot be found in big cities.
I am happy to answer any questions about things Japanese.
I look forward to meeting you in person soon!!
