What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Europe. Throughout the tour, the atmosphere was lively from start to finish. The guests were very eager to learn and asked many questions. In particular, there were many questions about the damage caused by the atomic bomb. Some of the questions were difficult, and I felt my own knowledge could have been deeper, but I believe I managed to respond adequately. As for lunch, the original plan was to eat at the food stalls on Miyajima, but since there were various ingredients that could not be eaten, in the end it was decided, by consensus of the group, to go to a ramen restaurant, so I took them to a ramen shop near the Peace Memorial Park. This was well received, and the guests seemed very satisfied.

Hi! My name is Kazuhisa To. After completing graduate school, I moved to Hiroshima—and have now lived here for over 42 years. I earned a Ph.D. through a national university’s professional program while working at Mazda Motor Corporation. Five years before retiring from the company, I was seconded to Hiroshima University, a national university, where I served as a specially appointed professor. In addition to my domestic career, I spent a total of about five and a half years living and working abroad. These international experiences have given me valuable cross-cultural understanding and the ability to connect comfortably with guests from around the world. Currently, as a Hiroshima Prefectural Government Licensed Guide Interpreter, I introduce visitors not only to famous attractions such as Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima, but also to the local lifestyle, culture, and culinary delights, tailored to your interests. I hope to provide each guest with a memorable experience that stays in your heart.
I look forward to meeting you here in Hiroshima!

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of friends visiting from Oceania. There were no particular issues during the tour. The Peace Memorial Park was fine, but the museum afterward was so extremely crowded — even for me, a guide accustomed to crowds, it was overwhelming — that it was difficult to view the exhibits properly, so I imagine it may have been somewhat disappointing for the guests. We then moved on to Miyajima, but unfortunately the okonomiyaki restaurant I often use was fully booked until 13:30, so we could not go in right away. I stood in front of the shop as a marker, and for a little under 30 minutes, the guests split into smaller groups and had some free time. Everyone seemed to head to the shops they wanted to visit, so it may have worked out for the better. After lunch, we toured the sightseeing spots of Miyajima and returned. The guests seemed most moved by the torii gate and the setting of Itsukushima Shrine. The Kaidan-meguri (dark path pilgrimage) at Daishoin Temple also seemed to be an enjoyable experience for them.

What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama, Kinkaku-ji, and Kiyomizu-dera Today's guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They had just arrived in Japan and planned to travel to Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. We first visited the Tenryu-ji garden and the Arashiyama bamboo grove. Since some of the guests could only walk slowly, we proceeded at a very relaxed pace throughout. After that, we went to Kinkaku-ji, and by good timing it was not very crowded, which the guests were very pleased about. Some of the guests felt that the stairs at Sannenzaka and Kiyomizu-dera would be too difficult, so while they had lunch, the rest of the group toured Kiyomizu-dera, took many photos, and enjoyed it very much. We regrouped at Sannenzaka and headed back to Kyoto Station, where the tour ended. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

Can You Do a Private Osaka Day Trip from Tokyo by Bullet Train? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America, arriving by cruise ship. At the request of one of the guests who wanted to see Osaka Castle, the group traveled from Tokyo to Osaka by bullet train on the day of the tour, with plans to return to Tokyo by evening. One of the guests preferred not to walk long distances and used a cane, so this person waited at the entrances of Osaka Castle and the Umeda Sky Building, while the others enjoyed each location while remaining considerate toward them. The group had also expressed interest in visiting the Grand Ring at the Expo site and Hankyu Department Store, but time did not allow for it. I felt sorry that this was not possible after they had traveled all the way from Tokyo, but the guests were delighted to satisfy their hunger from the early morning at the Time Out Market they had wished to visit, which left me feeling relieved as well.

It was their first time in Japan and in Kyoto. I took the guests to Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The morning was perfect weather for sightseeing. It became hot in the afternoon, but the temperature was more comfortable compared to the heat of August. Since we entered Nijo Castle right after it opened, it was not very crowded. Kinkaku-ji was already busy, but the Kyoto Imperial Palace was relatively quiet. The guests said the wall paintings at Nijo Castle left the strongest impression on them. During the tour, I also introduced a restaurant, recommended another place to visit (Sanjusangendo), and gave an explanation of Fushimi Inari Taisha, which the guests planned to visit the following day.

They arrived at Osaka Port on the morning of the tour by cruise ship and were scheduled to depart in the evening for Kochi Port. One of the guests was very fond of Japan and was visiting for the third time, with a particular love for Osaka and looking forward most to eating takoyaki in Dotonbori. This guest had also been studying Japanese, so throughout the tour there were many questions about the language and history, with the whole group joining in. One of the goals of this tour was to purchase kitchen knives that the guests would be happy with, so I guided them to a long-established knife shop in the Doguyasuji district, where they achieved their goal and were delighted. After arriving in Dotonbori, we parted ways, and I entrusted the rest of the guiding to one of the guests.

Title: What's a Private Edo and Tokugawa History Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America who arrived in Tokyo by cruise ship. On an optional cruise-ship tour, they had visited central Tokyo two days earlier and Mount Fuji the previous day. Today, apart from a dahlia garden, they left the plans to me, so we did the Edo/Tokugawa-themed tour described above. At the Hotel and at Ueno Park before the dahlia garden opened, I gave an overview of Japanese history centered on the Edo (Tokugawa) period, as preparation for Toshogu Shrine, Nezu Shrine, and Koishikawa Korakuen Garden. They were captivated by the splendor of Toshogu Shrine and by the five-story pagoda that now stands alone and somewhat forlorn due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism. They seemed to really enjoy the Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi area, occasionally losing sight of each other while taking photos of the buildings and alleyways. Since a proper dinner was planned for the evening, for lunch in the Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi area they sampled menchi-katsu, doughnuts, and sweet potato treats. I was a little concerned about the walking, but one of the guests managed the walk to the Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi area energetically. At Korakuen Garden they did seem a bit tired, but kept exclaiming "beautiful."

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

What Is a Private Group Tour from a Cruise Ship Terminal Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America and Europe. In the morning at the cruise ship terminal, despite many passengers waiting, no taxis arrived even after waiting more than ten minutes, and since the group would have needed three taxis, I quickly changed the plan and switched to traveling by train. Although we were forced to alter the itinerary, there were no complaints from the guests, and in the end I was able to provide guiding that satisfied them, which was a relief.
