    Title: What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Because we started at Fushimi Inari Taisha early in the morning, it was very uncrowded and we were able to move through faster than planned. At Nijo Castle, there were many questions from one of the guests, covering a wide range of topics such as samurai, shoguns, and emperors. At Kitano Tenmangu, some of the guests were not interested in the plum garden, so they spent time with the guide at the shrine and along the approach, taking many photos. Lunch at a kaiten sushi restaurant was well received, and there was a request to find a similar place near the Hotel. At Kinkaku-ji, after lunch the younger guests regained their energy and enjoyed running around while sightseeing. At Gio-ji, the moss was starting to turn brown, perhaps due to lack of moisture, so it did not feel as refreshing as usual. The guests were very impressed by the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and in the garden of Tenryu-ji they took photos of the flowers in bloom. With a little time to spare, we took photos at Togetsukyo Bridge and then headed to the Samurai Ninja Experience Museum, arriving ten minutes early, where the tour concluded.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of friends visiting from North America, staying for about three weeks and planning to travel around Tokyo, Kyoto, Kanazawa, and other places. They were quite familiar with Japan and listened attentively to my explanations, but once they started talking among themselves the conversation flowed continuously, so it was a bit challenging to find a moment to join in. Since they said they wanted something typically Japanese for lunch, I guided them to a ramen restaurant nearby, and they were very pleased with it. The day was a little cold but the weather was fine, and I believe they were able to relax and enjoy the tour.

    What Is a Private Fukuoka Day Tour to Nanzoin and Dazaifu Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests had visited Japan many times before, but this was their first time in Fukuoka, and they were very interested in the food and the atmosphere of the town, taking many photos. At Nanzoin Temple, they listened attentively to explanations about the temple's history, the various buildings and statues on the grounds, and the different types of Buddhist statues. At Nyoirin-ji Temple, they were delighted throughout by the charming frog statues, and said it was the most wonderful frog temple they had ever visited. At Dazaifu, they also enjoyed the local specialty umegae mochi. After the tour, the guests told me it was a truly wonderful place where they were able to see so many things, and thanked me for taking them there.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa's Higashi Chaya District Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. One of them was able to speak a little Japanese. They asked many questions, and we spent a considerable amount of time at each spot, which I believe made for a rich and fulfilling tour. We continued without stopping for lunch or breaks aside from restroom stops, so I did wonder if they might have become quite tired. However, since I had heard that the guests planned to have a meal before attending a geisha show in the evening, we carried on as we were. The tour ended after I showed them a place for lunch in the Higashi Chaya district.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like from Asakusa to Ueno? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America, visiting Japan for the first time. Before retiring some years ago, they had lived and worked in North America. They had arrived at Haneda two days earlier and, adjusting to the time difference, had strolled around the Akasaka area including Hie Shrine the previous day, but today was their first time using the trains. They planned to visit Mount Fuji the next day, and after that intended to explore Tokyo on their own on Friday and Saturday before boarding a cruise ship at Yokohama Osanbashi Pier on Sunday. I handed them a Tokyo Travel Guide and introduced the main spots. Since they were interested in the Tokyo National Museum, I explained the route there. In addition, I let them know that the large Kanzakura cherry blossoms could be seen below the statue of Saigo Takamori. In Asakusa, since they wanted a simple lunch, I guided them to Fuji Soba. They were delighted, saying it was several times more delicious than the ramen they had been recommended at their hotel the night before. I think the ramen had felt heavy for them. Since they still had a long journey ahead on the cruise, they did not do any particular shopping.

    I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
    After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

    My guide is starting from a brief history of the site where I am going to guide. I usually add a briefing about Japanese culture based on religions, such as Shinto Shrine and Buddhist temples. A geographic background behind the history is also important.

    I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, both visiting Japan for the first time. The main purpose of this trip was to travel around Japan. They mentioned that they had ramen near their hotel the previous evening for dinner. Due to conflict in the Middle East, their flight was delayed, and they arrived at Narita one day later than originally planned, taking a limousine taxi to the hotel. This time they would be staying for about a week, and starting tomorrow they planned to visit Hakone, Hida-Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka, and Koyasan, finally departing from Kansai Airport. The guests seemed tired from the long flight. The itinerary had been arranged through a travel agency, but because the arrangements had been made in a hurry, they mentioned that it "didn't quite feel right" and asked for help arranging Shinkansen and other train tickets. The tour took place under cloudy skies and chilly weather. We first went to Tsukiji. After strolling through Tsukiji Uogashi, we walked slowly through the market area. I explained the "history of the fish market since the Edo period" and the "difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market." There were comments and questions such as, "It's crowded. It really seems like there are more tourists than locals." We then walked to Hamarikyu Gardens. I explained the "history and current state of Hamarikyu Gardens" and "duck hunting." The guests said, "The pine trees are wonderful," and enthusiastically took photos in many places (one of the guests enjoyed photography as a hobby). From Shiodome Station we moved to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine, I explained "about Shinto," "about torii gates," "about Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed," and "why wine barrels are displayed." There were questions such as, "What kind of religion is Shinto?" and "How does Buddhism differ from Shinto?" We also strolled along Takeshita Street. We moved to Shibuya. First we went to the travel concierge at Shibuya Station, where, checking carefully and repeatedly, we activated the JR Pass and confirmed reservations for the Shinkansen and other JR trains. The instructions prepared by the travel agency were unclear, so it took quite a while and effort. We actually crossed the Scramble Crossing. There were questions such as, "How many people gather at the busiest times?" and "Why did it become famous?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. They said, "We're hungry. Let's have a light lunch. Since we had ramen last night, something else. And no fish," so we went to a udon restaurant. They ordered various udon dishes with a large amount of tempura toppings, and said, "It was just the right kind of lunch." We moved to Shinjuku. At a travel center, we checked the reservation status for the next day's Romancecar, but since the QR code needed for ticketing had not been sent from the travel agency, the ticket could not be issued. They said, "We'll contact the agency in Europe tonight and have it sent," so we left it there for the time being. After this, we strolled through Omoide Yokocho and Kabukicho. They requested, "We really wanted to see the Godzilla Head and the 3D cat billboard." I explained the "origins of Shinjuku," the "difference between the east and west sides of Shinjuku," and the "history of Kabukicho." There were comments and questions such as, "The streets are clean with no litter. It's completely different from London," and "There are no trash cans on the streets. Why is that?" I saw them off at Ginza Station, ending the tour.

    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.

    What's a Private Tokyo Tour of Tsukiji and Asakusa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, both visiting Japan for the first time. This was a two-week trip to Japan. After staying in Tokyo, they planned to sightsee in Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, then return to Tokyo before heading home. They arrived at Narita Airport last night on a direct flight and took a shuttle bus to their accommodation. They mentioned enjoying ramen for dinner. They said they were looking forward to trying various Japanese dishes, especially sushi. This afternoon they planned to visit Tokyo Skytree and TeamLab, and the next day they intended to explore Shibuya and the western part of Tokyo. It was a sunny day, but the wind was strong and the weather was chilly during the tour. We first went to Tsukiji. After strolling around Tsukiji Uogashi, we took a leisurely walk through the market area. I explained the history of the fish market dating back to the Edo period, and the difference between the Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market. The guests asked, "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" and commented, "It's crowded, but it seems like there are many tourists after all." They said they wanted to try various things to eat while standing, so we stopped at several shops as we walked. As a result, they tried tuna sushi, grilled eel, tamagoyaki, fresh sea urchin, fresh snow crab, and more. They also bought a large amount of wasabi peanuts as souvenirs. They remarked that while there is a fish market where they live, it is not as large or as crowded as this one. We then moved to Asakusa. The grounds of Sensoji Temple were crowded with tour groups. I explained the history of Sensoji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo, the purpose of the five-story pagoda, what Buddhism is, and the difference between Buddhism and Shinto. We took commemorative photos at various spots, including in front of the Kaminarimon gate and the five-story pagoda. We also strolled leisurely through the Nakamise shopping street and continued on to Shin-Nakamise street. They asked questions such as, "What are the major religions in Japan?", "How many Christians are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?" They also commented and asked, "The streets are so clean and there is no litter," "I was surprised at how clean the public restrooms are, though it was inconvenient that there were no hand dryers," and "There are no trash cans on the streets. Why is that?" They asked to be taken to Skytree, so I saw them off at Tokyo Skytree Station and the tour concluded.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle and Ginkaku-ji Today I guided a group visiting from North America with [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). They had already traveled through Fukuoka, Nagasaki, and Hiroshima, and planned to continue from Kyoto to Nara and Tokyo. Since one of the guests found walking a little difficult, we took a fairly slow pace throughout the day. The guests enjoyed photography, and they took many photos in the garden of Nijo Castle. Ginkaku-ji also has a beautiful garden, and they took many photos there as well. For lunch, we had a reservation at an udon restaurant near Ginkaku-ji, where they savored an udon set meal along with some sake. I believe the guests had a very enjoyable time.

    What's a Private Day Tour of Hakone Like? A Licensed Guide's Report from Odawara to the Hakone Open-Air Museum The guests were a group visiting from North America. Although they had visited Japan several times before, this was their first trip to Hakone. On this occasion, their purpose was to visit Japan and one other Asian destination. They had arrived the previous night, stayed one night in Tokyo, and came to Odawara this morning. After spending another night in Hakone today, they planned to take the Shinkansen the next day, sightsee in the Kansai area, and then continue on to their next destination in Asia before returning home. The tour took place under clear skies, but thick clouds hung over Mount Fuji, so we were unable to see it. It was a clear but slightly chilly day for the tour. At the guests' request, the meeting point was changed from their accommodation, Hotel, to Odawara Station. First, from Odawara Station, we transferred between the Hakone Tozan Railway, the cable car, and the ropeway to reach Owakudani. I explained "The Formation of Hakone" and "An Overview and History of Owakudani." There were questions such as "When were the volcanic groups of Hakone formed?" "Is Owakudani an active volcano? Has it ever erupted?" and "Is Mount Fuji also an active volcano?" The guests bought and tasted the "black eggs" and remarked, "The smell of sulfur is incredible." Next, we took the ropeway to Togendai. After a short wait, we boarded the "pirate ship." Inside, it was almost full of visitors from overseas. There were questions such as "How deep is Lake Ashi? What is the water temperature?" "Can you swim in it?" and "Can you fish here?" We disembarked at Moto-Hakone Port and walked to Hakone Shrine. I explained "The History of Hakone Shrine." After visiting the main hall, we took commemorative photos from the side, in front of the torii gate on the lake. In front of the torii, there was a question: "Why are so many people lining up to take photos?" We returned to Moto-Hakone Port and went to an amazake teahouse. I explained about the "Tokaido." They ordered amazake and tokoroten. Returning to Moto-Hakone Port, we transferred between the Hakone Tozan bus and the mountain railway to reach the Hakone Open-Air Museum. I explained the origins of the "Open-Air Museum." We made a quick circuit of the grounds. At the shop, they bought a "towel" as a souvenir. At the convenience store in front of Chokoku-no-Mori Station, they purchased "onigiri," an "egg sandwich," and other items. The guests also commented, "Everywhere in Japan, the towns are clean. There is no litter." "Everyone is so polite." and "I've been able to relax for the first time in a while. I want to enjoy the hot springs." We parted ways in front of Miyanoshita Station, the nearest station to their accommodation.

    A Private Tour Report Near the Kanmon Strait: What Are the Challenges of Guiding Cruise Ship Passengers? During the tour, another traveler took the taxi we had reserved, so it took time to arrange transportation again. When a cruise ship brings more than 3,000 passengers, arranging taxis in this area becomes difficult. Within the group, there were guests ranging from those who had previously lived in Japan to those visiting Japan for the first time, so the questions covered a wide range of topics. They showed great interest not only in information about tourist sites but also in Japanese culture and politics. They were surprised to learn that the Kanmon Strait has several undersea tunnels for cars, trains, the Shinkansen, and pedestrians.
