What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama and Sakura
Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania. They had already visited Tokyo before coming to Kyoto. The weather was fine, and we began with a boat ride on the traditional pleasure boats at Arashiyama. Afterward, we strolled through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and explored the garden of Tenryu-ji Temple. Various flowers were in full bloom and beautifully in season. The guests were surprised by how many tourists there were inside the bamboo grove. After that, at the recommendation of our driver, I took them to Haradani-en Garden. Weeping cherry blossoms and a variety of flowers were blooming beautifully, and there were quite a lot of Japanese visitors there as well. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
