    What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Ueno, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku The guests were a group from Europe. Since some of the group preferred to avoid crowded places, we skipped Asakusa and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The cherry blossoms had already finished, but we enjoyed a pleasant stroll through Ueno Park amid the fresh greenery. While visiting Kiyomizu Kannon-do, Hanazono Inari Shrine, and Ueno Toshogu Shrine, I spoke about Japanese history. The guests had studied beforehand and were very knowledgeable. After Meiji Shrine, we went to Takeshita Street in Harajuku. The whole group enjoyed buying socks and eating strawberry candy. Even the members who did not like crowded places were fine here.

    Title: What's a Private Car Tour of Kobe and Engyoji Temple Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group of friends visiting Kobe from North America and Asia. This was a private Kobe tour with a vehicle. From the outset, the guests had requested "Engyoji Temple on Mount Shosha, Himeji Castle, and an authentic Kobe beef meal." For this reason, after meeting at the cruise ship terminal, the plan was to visit "Engyoji Temple, Himeji Castle (photos from the outside only, as there was not enough time), and a Kobe beef restaurant" in that order. However, since we ran slightly behind schedule at Engyoji Temple, we skipped Himeji Castle and headed to the restaurant. As the restaurant was reserved, we were seated promptly, and the guests thoroughly enjoyed their meal. That said, the meal took quite a long time. By the time the meal ended, we had already exceeded the scheduled tour time. Then, since some of the guests wished to go shopping, I took them to the Motomachi shopping street, and returned to the terminal together with the rest of the group to conclude the tour. The guests were very pleased at Engyoji Temple. They were also very happy at the restaurant, saying the food was delicious. At the end of the tour, everyone thanked me. However, it was a tour with long travel and meal times.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kanazawa Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, on their first trip to Japan. Originally the meeting point was the cruise terminal, but since the guests wished to end the tour at Kenrokuen in central Kanazawa, we started the tour with a 9:45 AM meeting at Kanazawa-nishi Station. The guests enjoyed the Chaya districts, Kanazawa Castle Park, and Oyama Shrine. Although the guests wished to visit as many places as possible, I made sure to proceed at a relaxed pace. At the guests' decision to explore Kenrokuen slowly before returning to the ship, I showed them the bus stop for Kanazawa Station at the Hirosawa-guchi entrance of Kenrokuen, and the tour concluded.

    What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kagurazaka, Shinjuku Gyoen, and Shibuya I guided a group visiting from North America. It was their first day in Japan, and they were scheduled to board a cruise ship from Yokohama the next day. I guided them to the three places they had requested, plus Kagurazaka. They were delighted to see a different side of Tokyo. For lunch they requested ramen, so I took them to a well-regarded shop, and they loved the delicious soup. At Shinjuku Gyoen the azaleas were beautiful, and we were just barely able to catch some late-blooming cherry blossoms as well, which was wonderful. Since they mentioned they had been asked to bring back some character goods, I took them to a shop selling magnets at Shibuya 109, and they were very happy to buy what they wanted. On the way back, we took a bus from Shibuya to the bus stop in front of the Hotel, making the return trip easy. They seemed tired after all the walking, but they were remarkably energetic and I believe they were satisfied.

    What Is a Private Cruise Port Tour of Kobe Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. One member used a walking frame, so we proceeded at a slow pace throughout the day. This member was also uncomfortable with heights, so at our first stop, the Nunobiki Herb Garden, they waited near the entrance. The others enjoyed the corner at the Herb Garden where you can create your own perfume from a favorite scent. The next stop was originally planned to be the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, but as I advised that it might not be suitable for someone uncomfortable with heights, we changed it to the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum. Here too we skipped the second-floor exhibition area, but the guests enjoyed taking photos and sampling sake. Afterward, as they were hungry and wished to have a "bento" rather than dining at a restaurant, I guided them to the basement food and prepared-foods floor of a department store, where they purchased various boxed lunches, side dishes, and sweet breads, and enjoyed them at the resting space in front of the department store, expressing great satisfaction. For the final stop, the Nankinmachi Chinatown, some of the guests went while the others returned to the private vehicle as they were tired. Those who went lined up to buy pork buns at a shop said to be the birthplace of the "butaman," Roshoki. I presented some of the guests with handmade drawstring pouches made by my sister, which they were delighted to receive. After that, as they were a little tired, we returned to the cruise passenger terminal and parted ways with about 45 minutes to spare. Today's driver was courteous in both driving and manner, and left a good impression. Special note) The cruise ship the guests were aboard was listed as arriving at "Kobe Port Terminal" both in the original confirmation and in the guest's contact the day before, but the day before, an urgent notice from Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.) revealed that it was actually the "Naka Pier Cruise Terminal." (I also checked the local port authority's arrival/departure schedule and confirmed this was the correct information.) This was the ship's third call, and on the previous two occasions it had docked at "Kobe Port Terminal," so I had mistakenly assumed the same, which I deeply regret. I checked again on-site today, but there did not seem to be any clear rule or regulation (perhaps very large ships use "Kobe Port Terminal"?), and I was told it should be confirmed each time. This time, due to my insufficient confirmation, I caused unnecessary trouble and inconvenience to the staff at Japan Guide Agency, for which I sincerely apologize.

    I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    What Is a Private Kumano Sanzan Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report To visit the three grand shrines of Kumano Sanzan, a taxi was needed, so we arranged to use a taxi for five hours only. I parked my own car near Shimosato Shrine and took the taxi to Daitai-ji Temple. The person who made the booking and one other came out, and after a short while the rest of the guests got into the car and we set off. The guests reside in North America and share a house together, and though they work in various fields, they sometimes travel together. We picked up boxed lunches and started the walk from Fushiogami-guchi. The weather was fine, and the guests took photos and enjoyed the scenery as we walked. I gave an explanation at Fushiogami-oji, then we got into the waiting taxi and headed to Hayatama Taisha. Here I explained the history of the Kumano Kodo. One of the guests bought a wooden goshuin (seal stamp) book. We took the taxi and moved to Nachi, getting off at Daimonzaka 2-chome, which was as far as the taxi went, and then walked up Daimonzaka. By the time we walked along the main approach, it had become quite hot. At Seiganto-ji Temple one of the guests received a goshuin stamp, we paid our respects at Nachi Taisha, and along the path leading down to the waterfall I explained the Nachi Fire Festival. Thanks to the recent rain, Nachi Falls had a large volume of water, and everyone took photos of the falls and selfies with the waterfall in the background. We had planned to catch the 4:30 p.m. bus, but about 50 people were lined up and we could not board, so we did some shopping at nearby souvenir shops and took the bus that came after 5:00 p.m. The guests were going to have a meal in Kii-Katsuura, so I introduced them to a taxi, said goodbye, and ended the tour.

At Tsukiji Market, after a tour of the fish market, they entered a restaurant serving king crab and enjoyed drinks there for a while. They come from a place where seafood is commonly eaten, but they said king crab is not something they can eat at home. After that, they made quick visits to Tokyo Tower and Ginza Six, and then spent more time at Meiji Shrine, where they took many photos. At Shinjuku Gyoen, I guided them through the Japanese garden, and when the time came, I confirmed they had no intention of extending, and the tour ended. I received a tip.

I answered, "I don't have enough hair left to dye." As we took the elevator down, some elderly ladies got on. I said quietly, "It's not only young people here after all." The guests laughed. One of the guests took a liking to Kiddy Land and chose a mascot to attach to a bag. Apparently "KAWAII" has now become an English word. At the end of the tour, as we said goodbye, one of the guests asked, "I'd like to post that this was a wonderful tour — how should I do that?"
