Can You Do a Private Hakone Day Tour with Young Children? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania for their first trip to Japan. The weather was fine, and on the way to Yumoto, Mount Fuji was clearly visible, so I anticipated it would be a good tour where the guests could enjoy views of Mount Fuji. I met them at the Hotel and presented a two-piece Mount Fuji tumbler glass gift set in a mist-box package. Since some of the guests were traveling with a very young child, I brought a single-lens reflex camera and told them I would take many photos throughout the day and give them the SD card at the end. At the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the guests were delighted, enjoying the various installations, and I took many photos there. As some of the guests were very small, I had purchased two "pero pero chocolate" candies and two "Puccho" sweets each the day before and gave them as gifts. For lunch, I went to the sushi restaurant I had visited the previous week, but they said they could not accommodate our group size, so we went to a Japanese restaurant and ordered tendon, katsudon, and beer. Because the guests came from a French-speaking background, some of them did not speak English, and English communication with the group was limited. Since I speak a little French, I spoke to the guests using some French as well. Due to the large number of foreign tourists, it took 50 minutes to board the ropeway at Sounzan. There was also an announcement that the ropeway would suspend operations if the wind became any stronger, and I worried about a repeat of the previous week, but luckily we were able to ride. At Owakudani, Mount Fuji was beautifully visible without a single cloud, so I took many commemorative photos and was also able to capture close-up shots of Mount Fuji with a telephoto lens. I bought two bags of black eggs for 1,000 yen as a gift, and we all sat together eating them while looking at Mount Fuji. The guests also enjoyed the pirate ship and took in the scenery from the deck. Since the Hakone Checkpoint had just closed for the day, we only viewed the exterior before heading back. The Mount Fuji glasses, sweets, black eggs, and SD card came to about 4,600 yen in expenses, but since bringing joy to the guests is a guide's duty, I do not mind at all.

    • 14:30 Dismissal @Subway Shijo Station

Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report We began the tour with a visit to Arashiyama Monkey Park, where the guests enjoyed interacting with the monkeys and the feeding experience. We then headed toward the bamboo grove, but as it was extremely crowded that day, we turned back at the north gate of Tenryu-ji Temple at the request of the guests. Since the guests did not require lunch, we next visited Kinkaku-ji Temple, where the group took photos and were impressed by the shimmering beauty of the building. For the return, I judged that traveling from Kinkaku-ji to Karasuma-Shijo by bus alone would take a long time due to road congestion, so after confirming the guests' preference, we used a combination of bus and subway to make the trip.

Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Guided Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests enjoyed the azaleas at Shukkeien Garden and had fun feeding the carp. Upon arriving in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome, they said they had a strong interest in world history and were very curious about the atomic bombing and the reasons Japan started the war, so I explained why Japan began the Pacific War, the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, and its consequences. They then asked questions about my family and why the United States dropped two atomic bombs, on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In front of the memorial cenotaph, they were interested to learn that a few years ago President Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima and gave a speech there. After visiting the museum, they said, "Thanks to your explanation, I understood the contents of the museum well. But it is so tragic! Why don't the survivors resent America?" so I explained that the survivors came to wish, more than hatred, for friendship and a world that cherishes each individual life. I then explained the transportation to Miyajima, their next destination, and we parted ways.

What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They requested to see as many sights as possible during a 6-hour tour. Since they planned to visit the Imperial Palace and a Japanese garden on their own, they did not need guiding for those spots. They were interested in historical sites but not in anime and similar topics. Although heavy rain fell during the latter half of the tour, we energetically visited the sights mentioned above. The guests seemed very pleased to have enjoyed the many different sides of Tokyo. On the way back from Asakusa, exactly 6 hours had passed, and since they were going to return to their accommodation on their own, we parted ways at Suidobashi Station.

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report At Sanjusangendo, the guests were amazed by the many Senju Kannon statues inside. They were also surprised to see arrows from the traditional Toshiya archery event still lodged in the overhanging ceiling. We took a bus to Kiyomizu-michi and climbed the slope up to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. On the way back down the approach, the guests bought ice cream and sweets, then we walked through Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka to Maruyama Park and Yasaka Shrine. We planned to have lunch at a sushi restaurant, but many people were waiting, so during that time we strolled around Hanamikoji. After having lunch at the sushi restaurant, I introduced some Japanese games. We took photos at the Super Mario display in the Takashimaya department store, and I showed them the basement food section and other areas before heading to Nishiki Market, where I gave explanations. Fortunately, we were also able to enjoy shamisen music. After that, I guided them all the way to the front of Nishiki Market and concluded the tour.

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group of guests from North America. We began the tour in a relaxed atmosphere, sharing local stories and my own experience washing dishes at a Japanese restaurant. Everyone was very cheerful, and it was memorable to see them enjoy the day in their own unique ways at Miyajima, such as singing together with the deer and placing coins on the heads of the Jizo statues. At the Peace Park, the guests did not seem to prefer a heavy atmosphere, so I focused on guiding them along the river where a few cherry blossoms still remained, allowing them to enjoy a calm and gentle time. We also touched on the topic of the G7 Hiroshima Summit two years ago, and I was able to hear some interesting perspectives on how President Biden is evaluated in North America. It was a bright and enjoyable tour from beginning to end.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything, I’ll change the plan according to your requests.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay connected.

  • Miyajima Half-Day Customized Tour

    Miyajima Half-Day Customized Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • Today I met the customer at JR Miyajimaguchi Station at 10:50 and headed to Miyajima by ferry.
    • As the customer enjoys collecting goshuin (temple/shrine stamps), I guided them straight to Itsukushima Shrine upon arrival, and after waiting in a short line, they made their visit. Since they had a strong desire to visit various places, I prioritized covering as many spots as possible over historical explanations or photography. As the goshuin reception line was short, they were able to receive the goshuin smoothly at Itsukushima Shrine, after which I guided them to Daiganji Temple, where they also received a goshuin.
    • Before 1:00 PM we arrived at Daishoin Temple, where they received a goshuin as well.
    • Afterward, they considered taking the ropeway to Mount Misen, and I guided them to the ticket counter, but as the wait time was announced to be about 45 minutes, we decided not to use the ropeway this time. Instead, we strolled around Momijidani Park until around 2:00 PM, and they leisurely enjoyed the natural scenery.
    • During the walk, I directed the smoking customer to a smoking area, and in the meantime, the other customers enjoyed shopping and light refreshments in the surrounding area. After regrouping, I guided them to a café, where they spent tea time with drinks and cake while enjoying the view of Toyokuni Shrine. As they mentioned they were not very hungry, we skipped a meal at a restaurant and kept it to light refreshments.
    • At the café, there was also a moment when they saw a snake that appeared on a tree, which they observed with interest, enjoying themselves in a pleasant atmosphere.
    • After relaxing at the café, we headed to the ferry terminal, departed Miyajima on the ferry just after 3:00 PM, and said our goodbyes on board.

What Is a Private Goshuin Shrine-Stamp Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report On this tour, [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) arranged an itinerary centered on collecting goshuin (shrine and temple stamps), carried out at a comfortable pace tailored to the guests' wishes. During the transfers, the guests kindly shared memories and photos from their travels around various parts of Japan, and I could feel their strong interest in and affection for Japanese culture. The tour proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout. There were no major troubles or health issues, and the guests shared encouraging comments such as wanting to visit Japan again, making this a truly rewarding tour to guide.

As a person who grew up near the A-Bomb Dome, I offer a personal connection to Hiroshima’s past and present. During my time as an official interpreter for Hiroshima City municipal government, I guided many government officials through our Peace Memorial Park, sharing not just facts, but the emotions and resilience that define our city.
I love introducing visitors to Hiroshima’s hidden gems – local eateries where you can taste delicious local food and lesser-known spots that even guidebooks don’t mention.

Baseball fans might be interested to know I created the “squat cheering style” for our beloved Hiroshima Carp team and even hosted their TV show.

I’m committed to being flexible and tailoring each tour to your interests and preferences. Having traveled solo internationally many times, I understand the mix of excitement, anticipation, and occasional uncertainty that comes with exploring a new culture. This experience helps me anticipate your needs and create meaningful connections.

Together, we can create more than just a sightseeing experience—we can craft lasting memories that capture the true spirit of Hiroshima.

I hope your time here becomes a treasured part of your journey.

What Can You See on a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. We traveled by subway and, at Meiji Shrine, I explained Japanese history, religion, and the connection between the shrine and the era it honors before entering. Walking along the approach, we talked about the sake barrels, the masugata, and waka poetry as we made our way to the main hall to pray. Next, we walked along Takeshita Street and then took the subway to Shinjuku Gyoen. The guests seemed to fully enjoy strolling through the Japanese garden, taking photos with the late-blooming cherry blossoms and other scenery. We then moved to Asakusa and had lunch at a ramen restaurant, which they seemed very satisfied with. Walking from Kaminarimon Gate through the Nakamise shopping street, they appeared to enjoy sampling Japanese sweets. After praying at the main hall, we moved on to the Kappabashi shopping street, where the tour came to an end. I suggested visiting the history and culture museum, as it explains the history and culture of Nagasaki in an easy-to-understand way. Since the guests wanted to read all of the explanations at the museum and exhibition hall, I let them know roughly how much time we had so that it would not affect the rest of the itinerary.

Hello, I’m Rikako, but please call me Coco. It would be my absolute pleasure to show you around my hometown of Nagasaki. Having performed in the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival in my childhood, I developed a deep interest in history and cultural exchange. This motivated me to become a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter during my university years. Since then, I have gained valuable experience—from assisting ambassadors at the Nagasaki Peace Memorial Ceremony to handling a wide variety of tours, including private and coach tours, site inspections, international conference support, and VIP hospitality.
Explaining about Nagasaki’s history and culture is the most important to me. It is not only about this. I would love to provide genuine care so that your time in Nagasaki remains in your heart forever.
I’m truly looking forward to guiding you in Nagasaki 🙂

**Title:** What's a Private Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. The weather was very nice, and because we started early in the morning, we were able to enter Itsukushima Shrine smoothly without waiting in line. The guests were delighted by the beautiful scenery and the deer. They enjoyed taking photographs and took a great many pictures. As some of the guests were fond of the sea, we walked along the sandy beach together toward the area near the shrine. Afterwards, at the guests' request, we visited Daisho-in Temple, enjoyed lunch at the Omotesando shopping street, and said our goodbyes at Hiroshima Station.

Hello. My name is Yoko Shimada. Families traveling with children are always welcome. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching English to children from toddlers to junior high school students, and I currently work as an online Japanese teacher, especially for children from around the world.
I am a licensed childcare worker, a certified junior high and high school English teacher in Japan, and a guide interpreter licensed by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government.
Because of my experience working with children, I always try to create tours that are warm, flexible, and comfortable for guests of all ages.
I enjoy creating interactive and memorable experiences through conversation, local stories, and small cultural activities such as origami.
I was born in Ehime, raised in Shimane and Hiroshima, and have lived in Hiroshima for more than 30 years. I love meeting people from different countries and learning about different cultures, so please tell me about your country too!
I’m passionate about sharing Hiroshima’s history, culture, food, and beautiful local spots with you, and I will do my best to make your visit enjoyable, memorable, and special. I’m really looking forward to meeting you!
