    What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shinjuku, and Shinjuku Gyoen The guests were a group from Europe. They were wonderfully warm and cheerful people who were steady on their feet, and I was able to spend a truly enjoyable day with them as their guide. Since we had not exchanged many emails beforehand and no specific destinations had been decided, when we met in the morning we talked about the cherry blossoms and I learned that the bus meeting point for their trip to Lake Kawaguchi on Thursday was near the "Love" object, so I planned a route covering Meiji Shrine, Shinjuku, and Shinjuku Gyoen. We had a lively conversation about overseas trips we had each taken, including Machu Picchu, and it really is wonderful to share a common interest with the guests. We also found we had grandchildren of similar ages, and we agreed that we both end up exhausted when the grandchildren come to visit. On the tour, they were especially delighted by Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai in Shinjuku, and one of the guests said with sparkling eyes, "This is lovely, we'll have to come back for yakitori and drinks," so they may well head there this evening. I introduced a few bars in Golden Gai. The 3D cat and Godzilla performances were just about to begin, so we waited a little to watch them, and they listened with interest to stories about touts and the rumors of the leaping figure. In front of the host club billboards in Kabukicho, I asked one of the guests, "Which one is number one?" and they gave a wonderful reply pointing to their companion, which made everyone burst out laughing. They enjoyed the atmosphere of Meiji Shrine as a forest in the middle of the city, though I got the impression they were somewhat more drawn to Hanazono Shrine in Shinjuku. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese garden and the cherry blossoms in full bloom, and finally we headed toward the lunch spot. Since they had not done much research on Tokyo in advance, we obtained a guidebook at the Shinjuku Tourist Information center, and when I told them, "The staff here are very kind, so please come by if you need anything," the staff responded with a smile. There is also a map just outside the southeast exit, so I showed them the places we had walked that day, and they confirmed, "Ah, I see, so we went all the way around, and Golden Gai is here." We took a slight detour, but when we arrived at Shinjuku Umaya, I explained how to get to the Metropolitan Government Building and pointed out the south gate of JR Shinjuku Station, and we parted ways. Even while the restaurant staff were guiding them, they kindly turned around to wave and smile at me, which I greatly appreciated. It was a day of guiding filled with delightful conversation with truly wonderful guests.

    What's a Private Walking Tour of Kobe Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They had expressed a wish to see cherry blossoms, so I guided them to Nunobiki Herb Garden. Some cherry blossoms were still in bloom, and many other flowers were in full bloom as well, so the guests, who love flowers, enjoyed it very much. After hearing their wishes, we walked to Ikuta Shrine, passing through the Kitano Ijinkan foreign residences district and the town center. I explained how to worship at the shrine, and we paid our respects together. We walked to Port Tower, visited Meriken Park and Memorial Park, then returned to Chinatown. I showed them the shuttle bus stop for the Port Terminal, and we parted ways there. Since the guests were fond of golf, we talked about golf and looked at golf brand shops in town, and I believe they had an enjoyable time strolling around the city.

    Title: What Can You Do on a Private Day Tour in Kochi? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Until about a week before the tour there had been no response at all, but contact became possible just before the date. When I suggested a paper-making experience, the guests said that this was exactly the kind of special experience they had been hoping for, and they signed up for a handmade washi paper-making course at 10,000 yen per person. Because it was a private lesson for just the group, they were very pleased. For lunch, since one of the guests only eats fish, I had wanted them to try sashimi, but as I wanted to leave enough time for Kochi Castle, we had a quick meal at a local food-court style place. The guests also viewed Kochi Castle with great interest.

    I was born and raised in Kochi city, and I worked for Kochi City Hall for nearly 30 years, so I think I know a lot about Kochi.

    Firstly, I can guide you to the Kochi castle. Most castles you can find in Japan have been rebuilt after fires, wars, or natural disasters. However, Kochi Castle is one of the very few castles that still have the whole structure of its original tower and the mail palace from the Edo period (1603–1868). This makes it especially valuable for understanding Japan’s history and traditional architecture. You’ll like it!

    Other major tourist sites are adventurous Ryugado limestone cave, Makino botanical garden, Chikurinji temple with historical stonesteps, Zenjibuji temple with the spectacular panoramic view, paper-making activity, Oboke gorge, Nakatsu gorge, Niyodo river with a historical bridge and so on.
    If you like sake, you can visit sake brewery, and if you are interested in walking local streets, you can stroll my neighborhood.

    Kochi is a small city, but it’s very popular among tourists for its beautiful nature and good food. I took my kids to rivers and mountains when they were little. If you are interested in those places, please ask me. And I know many good restaurants, too.

    **Title:** What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku Gyoen, Tsukiji, and Shibuya **Body:** The guests were a multi-generational group visiting Japan from North America, including one small child who moved by stroller. We met at a convenience store near their accommodation in the Ochiai area and discussed the day's program. In contrast to the heavy rain the previous day, the weather turned to clear skies. Since temperatures were forecast to rise above 25°C in the afternoon, I decided to focus the itinerary mainly on outdoor activities. First, we headed to Shinjuku Gyoen in search of cherry blossoms. Along the way, I shared tips on how to use the trains, in preparation for the days when the guests would explore on their own. As they were also interested in Nakano Broadway, we viewed the shopping street from within the ticket gates during a transfer. We entered Shinjuku Gyoen through the Sendagaya Gate and immediately came to an area planted with various cherry blossom trees. The early-blooming, deep red-purple azaleas were already in full bloom, and there were others bearing white flowers as well. We strolled along the waterside toward the Japanese garden while admiring the cherry blossoms still at their peak. The guests enjoyed taking photos from time to time. Next, at their request, we went to the Tsukiji Outer Market. The crowds had settled down by that time, and we were fortunate to enter the sushi restaurant "Aozora Sandaime Honten" without waiting in line. Each of the guests enjoyed sushi to their own liking. During the food-walking, they particularly liked the sweet strawberries and even bought some as a souvenir. After the meal, some of the guests took a taxi back to the hotel first and departed from the group. So that they could walk around on their own later, I gave a brief introduction to Ginza, pointing out landmarks from the Ginza 4-chome intersection. For the remaining time, the guests wished to visit the Shibuya Crossing. We also took a commemorative photo at the Hachiko statue. Finally, I took them to the Tozai Line ticket gate at Takadanobaba Station, where we parted ways.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kodaiji, and Kinkakuji The guests visited Japan from North America. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, they enjoyed taking photos, and afterward we headed straight to Kodaiji. At Kodaiji, they had requested to see a bamboo grove, so they were very pleased. They had learned about the Kodaiji bamboo grove on social media and mentioned that they appreciated it being less crowded than Arashiyama. When I explained the story of Nene, who built the temple for her late husband Hideyoshi, they were deeply moved. They also enjoyed taking photos along Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka and tried matcha beer. Since they wished to buy a kimono, I took them to a souvenir shop near the gate of Kiyomizudera, where they made a purchase. After that, as some of the guests are very fond of ramen, I took them to Mendokoro Maruto near Sannenzaka. It offered three types of miso toppings, and they enjoyed the delicious flavors. They mentioned that although there are many ramen shops in North America, the ones in Japan are still the best. After lunch, we went to Ninnaji. After viewing the palace, we went to see the cherry blossoms. Many had already turned to leaves, but some were still blooming beautifully, which delighted them. They also enjoyed taking photos at Kinkakuji, and we arrived back at the Hotel right at the scheduled ending time.

    Nara is famous for deer. There is no sea in Nara. On the other hands, Kobe is one of famous port cities in Japan and famous for Kobe beef and night views.
    My favorite food is Yatsuhashi. It is one of famous sweets in Kyoto city. When I was a University student, I used to be a volunteer guide at Kiyomizu temple in Kyoto. There are many shops which sells yatsuhashi in Kyoto.

    I like traveling. I have been to Canada, South Korea, France, Australia and the United States.

    I studied English in South Florida University when I was a university student. I stayed for about 1 year. During stay in the U.S, I visited Las Vegas, New York, Boston, Miami, and so on.     Title: What's a Private Toyosu and Tsukiji Fish Market Tour Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. They were passionate about fishing, regularly catching fish such as sea bream, yellowtail, and bonito for enjoyment, and one of the guests had experience working as a cook at a restaurant and was very knowledgeable about seafood. For this reason, they showed great interest in the fishermen's techniques with longline fishing and every step of the process dedicated to maintaining quality. At the sushi restaurant after the auction, they enjoyed the chef's omakase nigiri and were delighted that every piece of sushi was fresh and delicious. At Tsukiji, they were impressed by the wide variety and freshness of the seafood displayed at the intermediate wholesalers. Since they regularly prepare fish themselves, they purchased an authentic deba knife and showed a big smile. Compared to last week, the number of visitors has decreased significantly. With the Easter holidays over and the Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms past their peak, it feels like the busy season will gradually start to calm down from here.

A Licensed Guide's Report on Mount Fuji World Heritage Sites We met at Shimizu Port and set off by private chartered taxi toward the Mount Fuji World Heritage Center in Shizuoka. Even under a cloudy sky, Mount Fuji was visible that day, and the guests were delighted to see it from the car. At the Heritage Center and then at Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine, the guests were captivated by the culture and nature connected to Mount Fuji. At a tea shop we stopped by along the way, we spent an enjoyable time chatting with the shop's owner family. Lunch was sushi, generous in both quantity and quality. After a satisfying meal, we explored the history related to Tokugawa Ieyasu at Kunozan Toshogu Shrine and admired its magnificent shrine buildings. At Hayakawa Farm afterward, the guests happily finished a favorite strawberry parfait, and we then continued on to Miho no Matsubara, bringing this full and eventful tour to a close.

The guest travels to Japan frequently to enjoy sushi restaurants and has a particular love for tuna. The guest watched the tuna auction very attentively and asked many questions about the different types of tuna, the distribution system, and aquaculture. After the auction, we headed straight to Tsukiji by taxi. After looking at fresh fish and other perishable goods at the Tsukiji Uogashi market, the guest wished to have a sushi breakfast, so I guided them to a restaurant. There, the guest enjoyed a nigiri set featuring an assortment of tuna. The guest said they would love to return to Japan to savor tuna once again.
