What Can You See in a One-Day Private Tokyo Food-Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from Oceania. As lunch was not required, we explored the major sightseeing spots (Tsukiji, Nijubashi, Asakusa, and Harajuku) while enjoying street food along the way. Because the schedule was quite tight, we ran short on time, so I suggested the guests visit Meiji Shrine on their own the following day, and I guided them along Takeshita Street to end the tour. When the schedule is tight, I think letting guests know in advance that it may not be possible to cover everything depending on the timing allows for more flexible arrangements. The guests were very strong walkers, and we walked a great deal. Everyone was very kind, showed a lot of interest in Japan, and asked many questions, so we had a fulfilling and enjoyable tour.

I’m Yoko Kusumoto, a government lisenced English-speaking guide.
I have been living in Tokyo for more than 20 years, and it’s my pleasure to show you around Tokyo. I recommend Meiji Shrine and Asakusa if you are first time in Japan. I also recommend off-the-beaton path spots like Fukagawa Fudodo and Gotokuji Temple(lucky cat temple).
I was born and brought up in Kamakura, where the first shogun’s government was established. It will be my pleasure to introduce you my hometown as well.

I live with my husband and one teenage son.
I like traveling, flowers, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and exploring Tokyo.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.

What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Hakone from Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report Since the guests were departing early at 7:00 the next morning and wished to enjoy an onsen in the afternoon, they requested that we prioritize the ropeway, Owakudani, and the pirate ship, and finish somewhat early. I managed to incorporate the red torii gate and a secret puzzle box into the itinerary. Fortunately, we were greeted by a perfectly clear view of Mount Fuji, and the guests were highly satisfied. They also tried the black eggs, which were well received. On the boat, we secured good window-side seats, and they enjoyed the scenery. The yosegi marquetry presentation at Maruyama Bussan was a first-time experience for the guests, and they showed great interest and curiosity, purchasing souvenirs as a gift for their grandchild. At Donburi Chaya, the guests enjoyed soba noodles while we had a lively conversation about kanji characters.

Can You Do a Private Group Day Tour in Japan with Young Children? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's tour was for a group of eleven guests from Asia. In the past, I have had a few experiences with guests from certain regions where, even though we had agreed before the tour that overtime fees would be paid in case of a tour extension, once the tour was over they refused to pay, saying they had no cash on hand. Today's group consisted of a total of eleven guests, including several very young children around two to five years old. It was clear from the start that the tour would move at a slow pace, and everyone finally gathered so that the tour could begin at 9:30, thirty minutes behind schedule. As expected, the tour progressed slowly. Being somewhat firm about it, I made sure to manage the tour so that absolutely no overtime fees would arise. We visited the planned locations and were able to finish the tour safely within the allotted time. I was relieved to be able to end the tour without any disputes.

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report on Nijo Castle and Kinkaku-ji The guests had originally hoped to visit less crowded places, so I had been considering Daitoku-ji and Sagano. After we met, however, they requested Nijo Castle and Kinkaku-ji, and we began the tour after they understood that these spots would be crowded. Although they had specifically written in Japanese that they wanted somewhere "off the beaten path," this wish had come from their impressions after visiting Fushimi Inari and Dotonbori in Osaka, and they said it was not a must. They liked both places very much and enjoyed them. As for lunch, they wanted to eat ramen, so since we planned to visit Nishiki Market in the afternoon, I introduced them to "Muraji." Overall, I believe they were very pleased with the day.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Temple Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were longtime close friends who had traveled abroad together several times before, and cheerful laughter could be heard throughout the day. I guided them to a high-end pottery shop just before Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and they remarked that the atmosphere of the shop was like a museum. At Kiyomizu-dera, everyone drank the water at the Otowa Waterfall. At Sanjusangen-do, several double-flowered cherry blossoms were still blooming in the garden, and the guests were delighted to be able to see the cherry blossoms. For lunch, at the guests' request, they enjoyed Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. In the afternoon, we visited Nijo Castle before returning to the hotel. The guests were keen on collecting temple goshuin stamps, and they were pleased to receive goshuin at both Kiyomizu-dera and Sanjusangen-do.

What Is a Private Cruise Port Day Trip in Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. When we met at the cruise terminal and talked, they said they wanted to see the snow monkeys rather than Mount Hakodate, so we skipped Mount Hakodate. The ship they were on had departed in January, so they had already been at sea for about 120 days. Because of this, they seemed more interested in seeing unusual local sights than in history or culture. Still, they were delighted by the seafood at the morning market and the scenery of Onuma. I could not quite understand the appeal myself, but they were extremely fascinated by the snow monkeys and watched them for a long time. The cherry blossoms at Goryokaku had only just begun to bloom, and they said they would like to come back again a week later.

Hello, my name is Akira Matsumoto, a national government-licensed guide in Hakodate and Sapporo. I’m a retired public school science teacher and have been working as a professional tour guide for more than five years. (Before retirement, I used to work as a volunteer guide mainly in Hakodate for more than 10 years) So I know every corner of Hakodate and its history, culture, and food.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I got into the graduate school of Hokkaido University, and in Japan’s modern history.
So I am well-versed in Japanese history, Hokkaido’s local history, and the Ainu aborigine people’s culture.
I can offer you an informative and enjoyable tour with a polite and hospitable atmosphere.
I like to interact and communicate with foreign people and introduce my guests to Japan’s beautiful scenery, wonderful culture,
and best food. I assure you that I will welcome you with my best hospitality and make every effort to make your tour a good memory.

Title: What Is a Private Cultural Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America on a trip to Japan. They appeared to have a strong interest in Japanese history and culture, and they asked many questions throughout the tour. Because of this, the explanations along the way became quite lengthy, and our time around the Nagamachi Samurai District ended up being shorter than planned, but I believe they enjoyed themselves fully. They seemed to have an image of Japan as a kind of paradise, with almost no crime, little litter, and no drugs, but I felt it was important to also share the reality with them.

What Does a Private Kyoto Tour Visiting Nijo Castle and Kinkaku-ji Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from Oceania. The guests had requested the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle, as they enjoy visiting castles. At Nijo Castle, the guests were greatly impressed by the Karamon Gate and the interior of the Ninomaru Palace. At Kinkaku-ji, they enjoyed the beauty of the golden pavilion and its garden. Along the way, I explained the Ryumon (Dragon Gate) by referring to characters the guests were familiar with, which sparked their interest, and they took photos in front of the waterfall. At the Kyoto Imperial Palace, the guests admired the grandeur of the buildings, but since some of them were getting hungry, we skipped a few areas such as the Seiryoden. Finally, I guided them to a restaurant within the imperial garden, and the tour came to an end. They were a very pleasant group, and they kindly told me to get in touch if I ever visit Oceania.

Hello! My name is Umi. I was born and raised in Kyoto, and I still live here today.

I have always loved traveling. When I visit another country, I enjoy learning about its history, culture, and way of life from local people. Talking with locals helps me understand a place much better than simply visiting famous sights. That’s why I became a tour guide.

Through my tours, I hope to help visitors gain a deeper understanding of Japan. In addition to its beauty and traditions, I am also happy to talk about modern life in Japan. My goal is for my guests to leave Japan with wonderful memories and a deeper appreciation of the country.

I’m looking forward to meeting you!

Title: What Is a Private Tsukiji and Asakusa Walking Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a solo traveler from North America who had arrived the previous evening and was scheduled to depart on a cruise the following day. The guest showed interest in the Tsukiji fish market area, but was overwhelmed by the crowds in the outer market. In hindsight, this may not have been ideal. Upon arriving in Asakusa, the guest began to feel unwell, so we took a rest to allow for recovery. I have already reported the full details separately to Japan Guide Agency by email. After recovering a little, the guest said they wanted to see at least Senso-ji Temple since we had come all the way to Asakusa, so we avoided the crowded Nakamise shopping street and made our way to Senso-ji. This time, the guest was pleasantly amazed by the sheer scale of Senso-ji Temple. Lessons learned: 1. Some guests do not want to be seen as frail and will put on a brave face, so even when they say they are "fine," it should not be taken at face value. I later learned that the guest had not slept well on the flight or the previous night. 2. If a guest is older and the tour falls on the day after arrival in Japan, it is best to recommend switching to a vehicle-based tour, or to rely more on taxis rather than insisting on using the subway or trains.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

Can You Do a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Covering Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Some of the guests had been to Japan before, but for others it was their first visit, and they were looking forward to enjoying Japanese cuisine. They had already toured Kyoto and Takayama before coming to Tokyo, so they were quite familiar with shrines and temples. Each time we took the train, they were amazed, saying that although Kyoto had been crowded, Tokyo was even more so! They enjoyed sushi at Tsukiji, and tuna was a particular favorite. As they wanted to reserve a shabu-shabu restaurant for dinner, I made a reservation at a restaurant in Ginza Mitsukoshi. After visiting Meiji Shrine, I introduced them to an animal cafe on Takeshita Street, and we said our goodbyes.
