**Title:** What Is a Private Matsushima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report **Body:** Surrounded by guests who all had a rich sensibility, the conversation flowed easily on the train during our travels. One member of the group, who is fond of Japan, asked about the difference between the honorifics "chan" and "san," so I briefly explained the subtle sense of relative standing based on one's own position. As for food, they mentioned that not only Blue-fin tuna but also Yellow-fin tuna is popular in Europe, and shared the interesting aside that some people there enjoy the large eyes of fish. On the sightseeing boat, we enjoyed the refreshing sea breeze, and at Entsuin Temple, the group was moved by the combination of the soft green light and the magnificent carpet of moss spreading out at our feet.

Osaka in Half a Day: Umeda Sky Building

Thank you very much for choosing JGA experience, and please allow me to briefly introduce myself. I’m Kaeko Tanigawa, your tour guide, and I have been showing tourists from abroad around mainly in Kyoto, Nara and Osaka areas. Every year I’ve guided my guests through those areas for over 80 times. I always try to do my best to help my guests explore and enjoy our unique and attractive locations, and I’ve been lucky enough to receive so many 5-star reviews from the guests I hosted. I’d like to help make your visit to Japan one of the most wonderful memories in your life. I’m really looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you very much.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 12:00 Meet at Shin-Osaka Station
    • 12:25 Lunch at Sushiro Ohatsu Tenjindori Store
    • 13:45 Umeda Sky Building
    • 14:50 Dotonbori – Hozenji Yokocho – Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street
    • 16:00 Disband at Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street

Today's guests were a group of three visiting from Europe. They had already visited Tokyo, Takayama, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Himeji, and let me know that they had seen many castles, so instead of the planned Osaka Castle we went to the Umeda Sky Building. It was not very crowded, and they enjoyed it. They were also pleased with the sushi restaurant we had for lunch. Afterward, we went to Dotonbori, Hozenji Yokocho, and the Shinsaibashi shopping arcade. I believe they enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the Minami area. In the shopping arcade they did some shopping at a sports-related store, which I think they enjoyed.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:20 Meet at hotel 8:45 Nijo Castle 10:10 Kiyomizu-dera Temple 11:20 Lunch (Japanese cuisine near Kiyomizu-dera) 12:00 Higashiyama area 13:10 Fushimi Inari 14:10 Arrive at hotel, tour ends

The guests visited Japan for the first time, coming from Asia. Originally they were from North America and Europe respectively, and they met in Europe. One of them had already retired. This was their first time on an assignment in Asia; previously they had been based mainly in South America, with the current location being their eighth. Both were enthusiastically taking photos, but they did not ask many questions. They also did not do any shopping at all, so we were able to move through the itinerary quickly. The tour started about 10 minutes early and ended about 20 minutes early. The photo was taken at Nijo Castle.

Kanagawa in One Day: Guided entry to Owakudani & Hakone Open-Air

    Hello and welcome to Tokyo!

I have been working for business with American companies for many years. I have many experiences guiding customers from around the world in Japan and taking Japanese customers to the USA and Europe.

I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter, and I want to introduce the unique gigantic city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese culture, which is not shown in the guidebooks, to people worldwide who are interested in it. In addition, I want to introduce various Japanese foods you can enjoy only in Japan.
Unique experiences such as the Sumo Training Viewing and Tea Ceremony are optionally available.
Depending on your preference and itinerary, I can guide you in Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone so that you can enjoy your time in Japan.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:30 Meet at the hotel
    • 9:00 Guided entry to Owakudani
    • 11:25-12:10 Pirate ship
    • 12:30 Hakone Shrine
    • 14:20 The Hakone Open-Air Museum

The guests were from Europe. They had already visited Kyoto and Osaka and were planning to head to Tokyo later that day. We slightly moved up the schedule to conduct the tour. At Owakudani, after explaining the history of the Hakone volcano at the geo-museum, we joined a guided entry and they were able to see the site where the "black eggs" are made. Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy and we could not see Mount Fuji, but they were pleased to sample the "black eggs." On the pirate ship on Lake Ashi, the weather was so pleasant that they stayed on the top deck the entire time, marveling at the surrounding scenery. At Hakone Shrine, I explained Shinto, its influence on Japanese culture, and the manner of worship, and they were delighted to learn about the depth of Japanese culture, which they had long admired. Finally, in line with the wishes of one of the guests, who enjoys art, I took them to the Hakone Open-Air Museum, where we concluded the tour.

  • Hiroshima in One Day: Miyajima & Hiroshima Peace Park Pier

Hiroshima in One Day: Miyajima & Hiroshima Peace Park Pier

Welcome to Hiroshima! I have been guiding mainly Hiroshima City and Miyajima Island. As for Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, Atomic Bomb Dome and other memorial monuments in the Memorial Peace Park, Hiroshima Castle, Shukkei-en garden and so on. As to Miyajima Island, Itsukushima Shrine, Daiganji, Daishoin Temple, Five-storied Pagoda, Senjyo-kaku, and some other places on the Island. It is my great pleasure to guide you who have come to Hiroshima all the way from overseas. I will try to accommodate the guest’s needs. Thank you for visiting Hiroshima.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:30 Meet @ Hiroshima Station (in front of Starbucks)
    • 10:00 @ Miyajima
    • 11:20 Lunch @ Momo-chan (okonomiyaki)
    • 12:20 Miyajima Pier (World Heritage Sea Route)
    • 13:05 Hiroshima Peace Park Pier
    • 13:05 Atomic Bomb Dome, Hypocenter, Mobilized Students Memorial, Rest House Ruins, Children's Peace Monument, Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims ⇒ Atomic Bomb Museum
    • 15:30 Dismiss @ Hiroshima Station (in front of Starbucks)

The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had originally come as a larger group of about twenty people, made up of family and acquaintances, each arranging their own preferred itinerary. Another group had done a cycling tour. The tour was originally scheduled to start at 10:00, but the guests emailed saying they wanted to start earlier because of the heat, so we began at 8:30. They had traveled around Tokyo, Nara, Kyoto, and other places, with Hiroshima being their final destination, and they mentioned they were tired due to the heat. Since they had already seen many shrines and temples, they said they wanted to enjoy the scenery at Miyajima. They were delighted by the view from the ferry heading to Miyajima. We went as far as the Great Torii, but they said they were hungry and would skip Itsukushima Shrine, so we had an early lunch (okonomiyaki), which they enjoyed and found delicious. After that, we headed directly from Miyajima to the Peace Park via the World Heritage Sea Route, and they were very taken with the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. In the afternoon we strolled around the Peace Park, but it was extremely hot and humid, so one of the guests in particular was quite tired. There was a line at the entrance to the main building of the museum, so they said they would skip it, and we did not view the exhibits in the main building. The tour was an 8-hour tour scheduled to end at 4:30, but they said they wanted to return to the station early and rest somewhere cool, so we took a JR bus from in front of the Peace Park to Hiroshima Station and parted ways at the place where we had met. The cycling group was to meet at the original meeting point (in front of the Starbucks) at 5:00 and return to Osaka on the 5:30 Shinkansen. Everyone was very friendly and pleasant, but they were quite worn out by the heat and humidity. Incidentally, they had JR Passes, so they were pleased to be able to make good use of them.

Hello! I’m Ryosuke—please call me Leo.
I’d love to help you create great memories in Japan, especially around Tokyo and my hometown, Hiroshima.

I once traveled 44,000 km by bicycle across four continents (every continent except Australia!). There’s a chance I might even have passed through your hometown. Through that journey, I learned not only how wonderful travel can be, but also the things travelers should watch out for.

With that experience, I’m sure I can help make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.
Let’s have a great time exploring Japan together!

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:00 Meet @ Hotel
    • 9:25 Hakone-Yumoto Station
    • 10:25 Board the ropeway @ Sounzan Station
    • 10:40 Owakudani
    • 12:00 Board the pirate ship @ Togendai Port
    • 12:40 Lunch
    • 13:30 Maruyama Bussan
    • 14:00 Hakone Shrine
    • 14:30 Board the bus @ Moto-Hakone Bus Stop
    • 15:00 Arrive at Hakone-Yumoto Station → Disband

The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They were quiet people, and while the atmosphere was not lively, they showed particular interest in the marquetry woodwork and the shrine. Unfortunately, the clouds were thick, and they were disappointed that they could not see Mount Fuji, apart from a brief glimpse of the summit near the end of the tour. Since they had just arrived in Japan, they seemed tired, so I made an effort not to over-explain or speak to them too much. At the end, they thanked me, saying that they were finally able to relax away from Tokyo, surrounded by quiet nature.

I am an experienced tour guide mainly for FIT tours.
I have also guided several tours on this website.

Aizu, Sendai, and Matsushima are very popular sightseeing spots for foreign travelers.

They have different charms from other areas, such as Tokyo, Kyoto.

I hope to help you enjoy the scenic beauty away from the hustle and bustle of the city, historical sights, unique samurai culture, local delicacies and wonderful traditional art craft.

I will customize the best plan for you according to your requests and make your trip a special and memorable one.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:00 Meet at Sendai Station
    • 11:00 Visit Zuiganji Temple
    • 12:30 Lunch at Senshintei
    • 13:30 Visit Godaido
    • 14:15 Shopping
    • 14:45 Visit Kanrantei
    • 15:15 Visit Oshima Island
    • 17:00 Tour ends at Sendai Station

The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, and to avoid the intense heat and crowds of the Kansai region, they came to Matsushima, a famous scenic spot in the Tohoku region. On the train, I made a point of talking about various other tourist destinations as well. At Zuiganji Temple, I explained about Matsushima as a whole, including the situation after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and when I explained the history and architecture of Zuiganji, especially the details of each room inside, the guests listened with great interest while asking questions. For lunch, I had planned for them to enjoy eel, but unfortunately it was not being served that day, so they tried beef tongue instead. They did not seem to care for it very much, which I felt sorry about, though they kindly said that this too was part of the experience of traveling. At Godaido, they enjoyed the architecture, the ocean views, and drawing omikuji fortunes. At Kanrantei as well, they relaxed while cooling off in the sea breeze that shielded them from the heat and taking in the scenery. At Oshima, they were moved by the mysterious atmosphere of the site as a sacred place, and told me that this was the best spot in Matsushima. They were very kind, considerate, and wonderful guests, and I am truly grateful.

The guest was visiting from North America. They were transiting on their way to another destination and were scheduled to depart on an evening flight. Since they had already been to Shibuya Crossing on their own, we visited Asakusa, Ginza, Meiji Shrine, and Takeshita Street. On the subway line, I explained Japanese history, culture, and views on religion, and they listened very attentively. As they preferred not to have lunch, we took a break at a café in Ginza and had a matcha latte with a photo design. They liked it very much. After Meiji Shrine, we walked along Takeshita Street and parted at Harajuku Station. It was a very enjoyable tour.

    Tokyo Customized Half-Day Tour

Hi! I’m a local guide in Tokyo and have been working as a licensed tour guide for almost 10 years. I love helping guests discover the “real Japan” beyond the guidebooks. I enjoy showing guests both famous sights and places that many tourists miss. My tours are based on your interests and can include not only famous sightseeing spots, but also local neighborhoods, culture, history, and everyday life in Japan. I also help guests enjoy Japanese cultural activities and make communication easier. If you’d like vegan or gluten-free meals, let me help you find suitable restaurants in Tokyo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to let me know in advance. I look forward to showing you around Tokyo!

    Tour Itinerary

    • 1) 10:00 Meet @ Hotel Lobby
    • 2) 10:40 Kagurazaka
    • 3) 11:40 Koishikawa Korakuen Garden
    • 4) 12:30 Nezu <Nezu Shrine → Nezu Ginza Street Backstreets>
    • 5) 13:45 Yanaka Shopping Street Backstreets
    • 6) 14:10 Disperse @ Renoir Cafe Nippori Yanaka Branch (Yanaka Homes, 7-20-6 Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo)

A group of four visiting from Europe. In the pre-tour communication, they had requested visiting places they would not be able to reach on their own, and expressed a wish to try street food and special foods, so I prepared an itinerary. At the meeting point on the day, I reconfirmed the itinerary with the guests and started the tour on schedule (the guests purchased a "Tokyo Free Ticket" at the station). In Kagurazaka, I first guided them to a local shrine, where they purchased a goshuin book and charms. I recommended tasty spots for light meals and sweets, and they enjoyed shopping and eating as they strolled. At Koishikawa Korakuen, I explained its history and guided them through the various areas of the garden. The guests had already traveled around many parts of Japan (Shiretoko in Hokkaido, Hiroshima, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, the Kinki region, Takayama, Shimoda, and Hakone) and were familiar with Japan, so they were pleased to exchange information about the relationship between their home country and Japan (as I heard in the feedback from the main guest). In Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi, I guided them to places they would have been unlikely to visit on their own. I introduced several spots including a shaved ice shop (one that does not get too crowded), sweets shops, a bakery, and cafes (fortunately, we were able to shop inside the popular bakery). Wanting to share my favorite senbei with the guests, I gave them some I had purchased in advance as a surprise gift. After the tour, I guided them to a cafe that, although part of a franchise, could be entered without waiting, introduced a popular nearby gyoza restaurant, and we parted with smiles.

Hello (Konnichiwa). My name is Masanori SUGANO. Most of my friends call me Bruce, so you can call me Bruce. It would be my pleasure to act as a guide for you as I have been a guide for over twenty years. I curate my tours to suit your quest for knowledge and make you laugh with Dad jokes as an ice breaker. I can add some of my experiences as seasoning since I’m a seasoned guide. I always gain a new perspective through my guests’ eyes, and that’s why I am passionate about my job.
You can create your own itinerary, and when we meet, you can let me know what things you want to see. I am very flexible and can go off the beaten track on your request.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to meeting you.
    Thank you (Arigatou-gozaimasu).

The guests came to Japan from Oceania the day before yesterday. Yesterday, they spent about three hours thoroughly exploring the French garden, English garden, and Japanese garden at Shinjuku Gyoen near their hotel. Both of them were strong walkers, and even during today's tour they actively chose the stairs over the escalators. The itinerary in the advance emails had included Hamarikyu Gardens, but since they had already conquered the three gardens at Shinjuku Gyoen yesterday, we dropped Hamarikyu Gardens today and instead strolled along Takeshita Street after visiting Meiji Shrine. They enjoyed various animal cafes and seemed very curious about the recently opened "Sloth Cafe" as well. They listened to my explanations with smiles throughout, and it made me feel very happy myself.
