Title: What's a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They mentioned that they had been friends for over 20 years and often travel abroad together. They came to Hiroshima on a day trip from Osaka, with Hiroshima being their final sightseeing destination before returning to North America from Osaka the following day. Although rain had been forecast, there were only two brief spells of light drizzle, and it hardly rained at all, with some clear skies even appearing. At Miyajima, the sky cleared up just as we were touring Itsukushima Shrine, and the contrast between the torii gate and the sea was so beautiful that everyone was delighted. At Daishoin Temple, they said that although they had visited many temples and shrines, this was their favorite of all. For okonomiyaki, we were given seats where they could watch it being cooked, and they were very curious about it. They asked the staff and were allowed to take a video, and at the end they even took a photo together. Everyone had a deep interest in history, and at the Peace Park I received many questions. We also folded paper cranes together, and since it was quite difficult, they truly understood how challenging it must be to fold 1,000 of them, and said that the story of Sadako Sasaki stayed with them even more deeply. Thanks to the good weather and the kindness of the guests, they told me many times that this final journey to Hiroshima was the best part of their trip in Japan, which was a great honor.

What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests on this tour were visitors from North America. It was their first time in Japan, and they were very much looking forward to this Nikko tour. After visiting the Shinkyo Bridge at their request, we took our time exploring Nikko's two shrines and one temple. The guests were clearly amazed by the beauty of Toshogu Shrine, and they were especially captivated by the Yomeimon Gate, gazing at it for a long time. Since one of the guests was not very fluent in English, the other translated for them along the way. For lunch, I took them to a popular restaurant located within the World Heritage forest, and they were delighted with how delicious the food was. Overall, it was a fun tour filled with smiles throughout. At the end, the guests wished to stay and enjoy the atmosphere of the World Heritage area at their own pace, so we parted ways on site. The guests were very happy to have experienced such a memorable tour, and I am sure they were satisfied.

I am a licensed guide based in the Nikko area of Tochigi Prefecture, with a passion for sharing the depth and beauty of this remarkable region.
In particular, I take great pride in introducing the magnificent World Heritage area, home to Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, and the iconic Shinkyo Bridge. The rich history, spiritual atmosphere, and masterful craftsmanship found there are truly inspiring.
But Nikko has much more to offer beyond the World Heritage zone. The region is uniquely spread across three different elevation zones: the central town area, the Lake Chuzenji area at higher altitude, and the remote Yumoto Onsen area in the mountains. Each of these areas offers a different charm—from historic sites and sacred spaces to scenic lakes, waterfalls, and hot springs.
However, due to the area’s wide geography, limited public transit options, and seasonal congestion, even navigating efficiently within a single area can be challenging without local knowledge.
That’s why local expertise is essential. With in-depth knowledge of Nikko’s layout, transportation network, and crowd patterns, I help my guests make the most of their time, while focusing on the area that suits their interests best.
I don’t just recite what’s written in guidebooks—I offer deeper insights rooted in Japanese history, religion, and culture. From the legacy of Tokugawa Ieyasu to the spiritual symbolism behind shrine architecture, I aim to provide meaningful and memorable experiences.
If you’re looking to discover the real Nikko, from its iconic landmarks to hidden gems, I’d be honored to guide you.

    • Since everyone is elderly and tired, we will disband at the Hakodate Public Hall
    • By taxi to the cruise port
    • Only Ms. Trisha, whose hobby is photography, wanted to take pictures of the Red Brick Warehouse, so a guide accompanied her
    • 14:30-15:30 Red Brick Warehouse
    • Return to the cruise port by taxi

Title: What Is a Private Hakodate Cruise Day Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania who arrived by cruise ship. They were longtime friends and formed a warm, cheerful group. The only means of contact was email; I also suggested using a messaging app, but this was not possible for them. The start time was 9:30, but since the ship was scheduled to dock at 7:30, I emailed to say I would be waiting at the port from 8:00, though I received no reply, which left me a little anxious. It was a great help that they came out early and had already purchased six tickets for Goryokaku Tower online in advance. Thanks to this, we were able to go up Goryokaku Tower without any waiting. I had made a lunch reservation in advance, but it overlapped with the dining time of a large tour group, so we ended up waiting quite a while. When cherry blossom season falls on a Sunday, everywhere in Japan gets crowded. We were blessed with fine weather, and the guests enjoyed both Hakodate and the cherry blossoms.

What Is a Private Cruise Excursion in Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America who arrived by cruise ship. The tour included a private vehicle, but given how crowded Goryokaku had been for several days in a row, we set the goal of getting up Goryokaku Tower as early as possible. Luckily, we were able to go up without waiting too long. Since I had heard that none of the guests eat seafood, I suggested Lucky Pierrot, a famous local burger chain in Hakodate. I asked the driver to take us to a less crowded Lucky Pierrot, where we ordered take-out and ate on the grass at Hakodate Park. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and the guests fully enjoyed Hakodate and the cherry blossoms. Finally, we parted ways at the Red Brick Warehouses, where everyone enjoyed some shopping.

Title: What's a Private Tsukiji and Kappabashi Kitchen Knife Shopping Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America, and they wished to purchase kitchen knives for home cooking, specifically a gyuto (chef's knife) and a nakiri (vegetable knife). At Tsukiji, we visited two specialty knife shops and browsed various food stores, where they tasted and purchased white strawberries and new-season green tea. At Kappabashi, we visited several shops including Kiyosuke, Kamaasa, Tsubaya, and Kamata, and they purchased a gyuto and a nakiri at Kiyosuke. They also seemed to like the rosewood design. They purchased a whetstone as well, and had reportedly signed up for a knife-sharpening lesson on another day. Afterward, we walked to Sensoji Temple, where I guided them, and since they planned to spend the rest of the time on their own, we ended the tour there. I was glad they were able to find knives they liked.

What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like for Guests Visiting the East Gardens, Tsukiji, and Asakusa? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. One of the guests used a walker, so I made an effort to use elevators and escalators as much as possible throughout the day. The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace were full of natural beauty, and the guests took many photos there. They said the buildings and the Japanese garden were beautiful. The group seemed especially fond of Tsukiji, though some of the guests did not care much for raw fish. At Asakusa, they again remarked that the buildings were magnificent. They wanted to walk along the Sumida River, so we strolled a little before returning to the Hotel. After traveling in Japan, the group planned to continue their travels to another destination.

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like from Asakusa to Shibuya? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private Tokyo tour for guests based in North America. In our pre-tour communication, the guests requested to visit Asakusa (including Sensoji Temple), Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, and the Imperial Palace. Based on this, I proposed an itinerary in advance, which the guests happily accepted. On the morning of the tour, the guests asked whether it would be possible to change the schedule to start at 8:00 the next day due to bad weather. I replied that I had been recovering from a lingering cold, so a change to the following day would be fine if we could start at 9:00. The guests then decided to keep the original plan and start at 12:00 that day as scheduled. Because of the bad weather, the train to the meeting point (Tsukuba Express) was delayed by about 25 minutes. I informed the guests of this and let them know that I would likely arrive at the Hotel around 12:30, and they replied "OK." I arrived at the Hotel and met the guests without any trouble, and we began the tour by reviewing the itinerary together (the guests had downloaded the PASMO app in advance). I had been told in advance that one of the guests had some back discomfort but was fine with using public transportation and walking, so I guided them at a slow and comfortable pace through Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, and the main gate of the Imperial Palace. On the way to Asakusa, our final destination, as I was explaining the transfer at Ueno, the guests said that fatigue had built up and, although there were still about 30 minutes left until the scheduled end of the tour, they wished to return to the Hotel. When I asked whether the walking had been difficult, the guests said, "We have another 2-hour tour tomorrow, and after that we plan to fly home from Narita. Today's tour was wonderful, so please don't worry." I guided the guests to the taxi stand at Ueno Station, told the driver the name and address of their accommodation, received permission to use photos, and we parted ways with smiles.

Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The day after this tour, they were scheduled to board a cruise departing from the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal to travel around various parts of Japan, so this tour was their only full day of sightseeing in Tokyo. They had arrived in Japan just the day before, but they were in great condition and highly motivated to sightsee, saying they wanted to see as much of Tokyo as possible. Undeterred by the unfortunate rain, they set off carrying sturdy umbrellas lent to them by their hotel. During their first experience on the subway in Japan, a young person naturally offered them a seat, and they were moved, remarking on how polite Japanese people are. At Meiji Shrine, they experienced the worship, and one of them performed the purification ritual at the water pavilion. At the souvenir shop, the guests, mindful that they would soon be boarding a cruise ship, wanted compact items, and selected nearly ten pieces such as pendants and chopsticks, thinking of family and friends as they chose them. At the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, I helped take photos of the guests walking across, using their smartphone. At Tokyo Tower, the upper section was hidden by clouds, so we did not go up to the observation deck. As the light rain gradually eased, we also strolled around the Imperial Palace from Sakuradamon Gate to the Tatsumi Watchtower. By then, the guests said they had really seen a great many of Tokyo's tourist spots that day. Finally, they purchased chocolate at the basement food hall of Takashimaya, and from there I saw them back to their hotel.

Living in the heart of the city, I actively guide tours primarily in Tokyo. In addition to being certified in English, one of my strengths is being able to communicate effectively in Spanish as well.
I’m looking forward to meeting you all in Tokyo!

    Tokyo Customized Half-Day Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 1. 12:00 Meet at Tokyo International Cruise Terminal
    • 2. 13:00 Asakusa
    • 3. 15:00 Meiji Shrine
    • 4. 16:00 Disband at Shibuya

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour of Asakusa and Meiji Shrine? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America, both experiencing Japan for the first time. They had arrived in Japan about two weeks earlier, traveling mainly around western Japan by cruise before arriving in Tokyo this morning. They were scheduled to fly home the following day. The tour was originally set to begin at 9:00, but the day before, they contacted me to change the start time to 12:00. When we met, they explained that the weather forecast had predicted rain in the morning, so they had asked whether a change was possible. Since I was able to accommodate the request, I agreed, and in the end we avoided heavy rain, which worked out very well. I guided them around Asakusa and Meiji Shrine. They mentioned that after each trip they always compile their photos into a movie, so they listened to the explanations while enthusiastically taking pictures at each location. At Senso-ji Temple they remarked on the beauty of the buildings, and at Meiji Shrine they were impressed by the forest and shrine buildings bathed in sunlight after the rain. Since they had some time to explore the city the next day and preferred traditional places, I recommended Shinjuku Gyoen and Hamarikyu Gardens. Finally, we went to Shibuya, where I explained the scramble crossing, the location of the Hachiko statue, and the taxi stand for their return, and the tour came to an end.

What Is a Private Yokohama Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Sankeien Garden, Chinatown, and Yamashita Park The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Before coming to Tokyo, they had already visited Takayama, Kanazawa, and Kyoto, and from the next day they planned to join a cruise tour heading back to North America via Hakodate, Alaska, and other stops. At Sankeien Garden, the guests appeared deeply impressed by the beautiful Japanese garden scenery, including the three-storied pagoda. In Yokohama Chinatown, they enjoyed delicious Chinese cuisine. At Yamashita Park, they enjoyed strolling through the park with its expansive views of Yokohama Port, beautiful flower beds, and fountains. It was still raining when we visited Sankeien Garden, but the weather cleared up by the time we reached Chinatown and Yamashita Park, allowing them to enjoy sightseeing. I responded to the guests' requests as they wished, so I believe they were satisfied.
