What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report from Kyoto Station to Nishiki Market

The guests came to Japan from North America. The group had not visited Japan since 2019, while some of the guests were visiting for the first time. Some of the guests planned to start work after returning home, while another was about to begin university. The group purchased several charms (omamori) during the tour. We met at Kyoto Station and took the JR line to Fushimi Inari. At Fushimi Inari, the number of school-trip students had noticeably increased. Many students were lined up at the Omokaru-ishi stones. All of the group took many photos. On the way to Kiyomizu-dera, we stopped by the Yasaka Pagoda and Koshin-do (Kongo-ji). At Kiyomizu-dera, when I explained that many people used to jump from the wooden stage long ago, the group looked amazed and could hardly believe it. After lunch, we walked around Ninenzaka, Ishibei-koji, and Yasaka Shrine. The group stopped at a couple of shops to do some shopping. After Gion, I guided them through Pontocho as we walked to Nishiki Market. One of the group seemed to really like Pontocho and mentioned wanting to return there after the tour. We finished Nishiki Market almost entirely just as our time came to an end, concluding the tour. The photo was taken near the Yasaka Pagoda.
