    Tour Itinerary

    • 1. 9:30 Meeting at their hotel
    • 2. 9:30 Visiting the Shukkeien Garden by tram and walking
    • 3. 11;05 Visiting Peace Memorial Park, including the A-bomb dome and other monuments, and Hiroshima National Prayer Hall
    • 4. 12:40 Visiting the MUSEUM
    • 5. 13:30 Goodbye

Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Peace Memorial Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from Europe and were very interested in Japanese culture. At Shukkeien Garden, they asked about the relationship between architecture, the garden, and nature. They were also very interested in the atomic bomb and the survivors, and asked about it at Shukkeien Garden as well. In front of the Atomic Bomb Dome, they asked: 1. Why did people not move to other areas after the atomic bombing? 2. About residual radiation, 3. Why was the atomic bomb detonated at a height of 600 meters above the ground? 4. About the lives of the survivors after the war, and when I touched on the subject of censorship, they asked why it had been necessary to carry out censorship. The guests did not seem to understand the meaning of "fire break," so I explained that during air raids, when fires broke out, houses were demolished to widen the spaces between them in order to prevent the fire from spreading, and they understood. We talked about the afternoon Flower Festival and the transportation options for going to Miyajima the following day, and then parted ways.

    • 15:00~15:45 Shinsekai, Nipponbashi

Can You Do a Private Day Tour of Osaka Castle and Shinsekai? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They spent the morning strolling around the Shinsaibashi area on their own, and the tour started at 12:30 in the afternoon. We entered Osaka Castle from Osakajokoen Station, and they were deeply impressed by the main tower visible from there, immediately taking photos. They had visited Himeji Castle the day before, and while they said Himeji Castle was also magnificent, they were greatly impressed by the grand outer fortifications of Osaka Castle, saying its scale was the most spectacular among all the castles they had seen, including those abroad. In Shinsekai, they took many photos of the retro atmosphere, the flashy signs, Tsutenkaku Tower, and the Billiken statue. After taking a light meal and a break, I saw them off to Nipponbashi, and they returned to Kitahama.

Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.
    Shige.

Title: What's a Private Naoshima Art Island Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, visiting Japan for the second time. Their route this time was Tokyo, Shizuoka, Izu, Okayama, Naoshima, Okayama (Bizen), and back to Tokyo. In Shizuoka they enjoyed a tea experience. This time, due to a mix-up in email correspondence, a reservation at the Chichu Art Museum could not be made, so I suggested the Naoshima New Museum of Art as an alternative, and the guests agreed. Although we could not enter the Chichu Art Museum, I guided them through the Chichu Garden and around the gate area, which they could use as a reference for their next visit. I also showed them the outdoor works at the Benesse House Museum, including Cai Guo-Qiang's "Cultural Melting Bath," which they had seen at the Naoshima New Museum of Art in the morning, as well as a work by Walter De Maria, who also has a piece at the Chichu Art Museum. In addition, we made a reservation the day before to visit Minamidera, part of the Art House Project, which features Walter De Maria's work, and toured it as a way to make up for not being able to visit the Chichu Art Museum. The guests were very pleasant, and although it rained, I believe I was able to guide them enjoyably.

Hello. My name is Hisao Kaji. I was born in 1945. I was raised in Takamatsu City from 3 years old. So, I have been living in Takamatsu for around 75 years. I believe I know Takamatsu City and the Kagawa prefecture area very well. If you come to Takamatsu, Kagawa I think you can enjoy your tour with me. I started a Government Licensed Guide in 2019. So, I have been a licensed guide for about 5 years. My favorite destinations are Naoshima, Teshima, Ritsurin Garden, the top of Mt. Yashima and so on. I always show you an itinerary about one month before your tour date, and I will accept any questions, other favorite places you want to visit. Communicating with you, I would like to accommodate your request for your tour. I always listen to NPR on the internet to know how the world is moving and improve my English. I like conversation based upon it with my life. I stayed in the USA for 8 months for a Power Systems Engineering Course conducted by General Electric in New York State when I was 28 years old. I sometimes talk about my memory of those days with the guests. I am very happy to guide tourists because I can see the guests become happy and enjoy themselves when I am guiding better. Nothing is more wonderful than that. I welcome your visit to Takamatsu City and Kagawa Prefecture. I believe you will have a pleasant time through my guide.

    Tour Itinerary

    • Ujina Port (9:30) → Travel by taxi → Hiroshima Port (9:40) Travel by high-speed boat (10:25) → Miyajima (10:57) → Itsukushima Shrine (11:30) → Omotesando Shopping Street (12:00) (Lunch & Shopping) 13:00 → Travel by JR Ferry + JR (Miyajimaguchi – Yokogawa) + Taxi → Peace Park (15:00) (Atomic Bomb Dome, Children's Peace Monument, Cenotaph, etc.) → Peace Memorial Museum → Call a taxi to the port and disband (16:00)

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Africa. They were very kind and were thoroughly enjoying their travels in Japan. Although it was during a major holiday period, perhaps because of the rain, we were able to enter Itsukushima Shrine smoothly without any wait. The guests enjoyed photography very much and took many pictures of the various scenic views of Miyajima. In the afternoon the rain grew heavier, so I focused the walk within Peace Memorial Park on the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Children's Peace Monument, and the memorial cenotaph. Since entry to the Peace Memorial Museum was being restricted and there was a very long line, I explained that the wait would be considerable, and the guests said they preferred to skip the museum and return to the cruise ship. As the rain became even more intense, we moved to a point where I could call a taxi, called one for them, and parted ways a little earlier than the scheduled end time. I felt very sorry that I was unable to take them to the museum.

What Can You See on a Private Yokohama and Tokyo Day Tour by Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests arrived in Japan by cruise ship from North America. They had informed me by email that on an earlier separate tour they had already visited major Tokyo sights such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Shinjuku Gyoen, so I proposed a route starting from Sankeien Garden in Yokohama, followed by Shiba Zojoji Temple and Tokyo Tower, and finally the newly reopened Edo-Tokyo Museum. I obtained their approval in advance and we set off. They seemed to especially love Sankeien Garden and were delighted by it. For lunch, they enjoyed ramen at Ippudo very much and thanked me warmly, saying they appreciated being brought there. It was my own first visit to the Edo-Tokyo Museum since its renewal, and I found it well worth seeing. The guests were also very satisfied. At the end, we parted ways at Hamamatsucho Station, and they headed to Haneda Airport by monorail. They mentioned that they do not often use chopsticks in daily life, so I gave them a pair of chopsticks as a souvenir, which they were very happy to receive. Overall, I believe they were very satisfied. (They reported that they had written a review, but as of today I have not yet been able to find it…)

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were senior visitors from North America, on their first trip to Japan and their first time visiting Asia. Despite advanced age, one of the guests walked with an upright posture and had no difficulty walking at all. This trip to Japan came about through a recommendation and a travel gift from family, based on the idea that experiencing a different country and environment is valuable. After Tokyo, they planned to visit Kyoto and Osaka by Shinkansen. Since the next day would be their last full day in Tokyo, I recommended the East Gardens. Normally closed on Mondays, it happened to be open due to a public holiday, and since it was within walking distance, I did not include it in today's Imperial Palace visit. Their Hotel was right next to the Marunouchi side of Tokyo Station, and when we walked from there to the Imperial Palace, they were surprised to learn that the Imperial Palace was so close to their Hotel. After viewing the Main Gate and Nijubashi Bridge, they had their first subway experience, taking the Chiyoda Line to Meiji Shrine. As it was also their first time visiting a Shinto shrine, I explained the differences between Buddhism and Shinto. It happened to be the spring grand festival, with performances of koto and shamisen taking place. By chance, we also encountered a wedding procession, and although it was crowded, they were delighted to see something so special. Many photos were taken centered on the torii gate. Interestingly, one of the guests had expertise in geology, and explained in detail about the composition and formation of the stones placed as partitions in the Imperial Palace Outer Garden. At Shibuya, they filmed video at the Scramble Crossing and were very pleased. I suggested lunch in Shibuya, but they preferred somewhere less crowded, so we took a bus to Roppongi and enjoyed sandwiches purchased there in the free space facing the garden at Tokyo Midtown Roppongi. Afterward, I guided them to the National Art Center and Aoyama Cemetery, which they greatly enjoyed. One of the guests mentioned wanting to revisit the National Art Center alone. During our walk, the conversation flowed well thanks to the many questions asked of me as a guide. One memorable moment came when we found a popular Krispy Kreme doughnut shop near Meiji-jingumae Station. I was told a family story: Winston-Salem, in North America, is the birthplace of Krispy Kreme, and a relative who worked in medicine there had been the personal physician of the founder of Krispy Kreme. Finally, we said goodbye with a hug in front of the Oazo building housing the Hotel.

What Does a Private Cruise-Port Day Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were two groups who had arrived in Japan by cruise ship, having become friends aboard the ship. Booking took place in January, and since we had exchanged emails many times from the very beginning, everything went very smoothly. That said, the itinerary was not decided until the day itself, and in the end we proceeded with a classic recommended course: Hamarikyu Gardens, the Tsukiji Outer Market, Asakusa, and Shibuya. They were very grateful that I proceeded in a way that saved as much time as possible — lending them PASMO cards to shorten waiting times, taking them to a sushi restaurant in Higashi-Ginza rather than inside the Tsukiji market since they wished to have a sushi lunch, and setting Shibuya as the final destination so they could return directly to Nihon-Odori Station (the nearest station to the Osanbashi Pier). For the sushi lunch, since they had some preferences about the toppings, they requested to order à la carte rather than a set lunch, so I explained the various toppings to them, and it seems they were able to enjoy the ones they liked. (They even wrote about this in their review!) I gave the guests Japanese tenugui handkerchiefs, which were also very well received. I received a five-star review, and overall I believe they were very satisfied.

Kyoto in Half a Day: Nijo Castle & Sanjusangendo

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:30 Meet at ANA Crowne Plaza
    • 8:45 Nijo Castle
    • 10:30 Kiyomizu-dera Temple
    • 11:30 Sanjusangendo
    • 12:30 Disband at Gion

What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Sanjusangendo, and Gion The guests were visiting from Europe. It was a return visit to Japan for one of them and a first visit for the other. One of the guests enjoyed photography and brought a large camera to take photos throughout the tour. Another of the guests preferred to avoid crowds and did not seem accustomed to much walking, and appeared quite tired after climbing the slope up to Kiyomizu-dera. After taking a break, they said at the bus stop heading to Sanjusangendo that they were tired and wished to return to the Hotel to rest. As a result, Sanjusangendo and Gion were visited with only part of the group. Although the itinerary had been agreed upon in advance, it seemed to have been too demanding in the end. I received a comment that the tour had been enjoyable, but I had mixed feelings about it. I had decided the order of visits based on the flow of the route, but I feel it may have been better to arrange the itinerary so that flatter areas were visited first.

I am Naoki Nakatani. I live in Osaka.
I started tour guide from 2023 after 40 years
work experience in Japanese manufacturing company. I am currently teaching Japanese as volunteer staff to foreign residents who live in my community. I have 11 and half years work experience in overseas office and I had interacted with people of foreign countries for a long time enjoying business and friendship with them. My guide experience is still short but I will provide my best service to the guests. • 10:00 Meet at Hakone-Yumoto Station→Hakone Tozan Railway→Gora Station→Bus→11:15 Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens→Bus→Choanji Temple→Bus→Gora→13:15 Lunch→Bus→Hakone Park→Gora Park→Hakone Tozan Railway→16:15 Say goodbye at Hakone-Yumoto Station

What Is a Private Nature and Garden Day Tour of Hakone Like? A Licensed Guide's Report After meeting the guests at the Hotel, we headed to Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens via Gora. It happened to be a clear May sky. Thanks to the rain the previous night, the fresh greenery was glowing, making it perfect conditions for a walk through the woods. The guests enjoyed a photo session against the backdrop of early-blooming hydrangeas that colored the garden. They fully enjoyed the session among the trees and flowers. After that, we visited Choanji Temple, and following lunch we admired the moss garden at the Hakone Museum of Art. At Gora Park, the guests enjoyed a matcha experience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the hidden charms of Hakone. Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens, which we visited first, opened in 2022 and is growing in popularity as a Western-style garden where visitors can enjoy flowers and trees. Every guest I have brought here has thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing, uncrowded atmosphere. For this reason, I would like to recommend adding it to the What To Expect list. Admission is 1,800 yen per person, or 1,500 yen for advance tickets.

What's a Private Hakone Day Tour Like During Golden Week? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. After I explained that heavy crowds were expected in the middle of the Golden Week holiday period, they made visits to Owakudani and the Hakone Open-Air Museum their top priorities. We started from Odawara Station at 8:30 and arrived at Owakudani before 11:00. During the transfer at Hakone-Yumoto Station, choosing to skip one mountain railway train in order to secure seats reduced stress and turned out to be a good decision. The guests were very satisfied with both Owakudani and the museum, and praised how efficiently we were able to move while long lines formed nearby. Although we visited fewer places than usual, I felt that overall the guests were very pleased.

Hello! I’m Ryosuke—please call me Leo.
I’d love to help you create great memories in Japan, especially around Tokyo and my hometown, Hiroshima.

I once traveled 44,000 km by bicycle across four continents (every continent except Australia!). There’s a chance I might even have passed through your hometown. Through that journey, I learned not only how wonderful travel can be, but also the things travelers should watch out for.

With that experience, I’m sure I can help make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.
Let’s have a great time exploring Japan together!
