    What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America, staying at a hotel located a little away from Peace Memorial Park. Everything had been confirmed in advance, including a taxi reservation to the hotel and a round-trip booking on the World Heritage sea route, so the day proceeded smoothly and on schedule. The journey between central Hiroshima and Miyajima takes about an hour, and it can be tricky to balance how much to communicate with guests amid crowded trains and boats. Some days you can sit together and keep chatting without worrying about others, while on other days you are seated apart or surrounded by people and can barely talk at all. On this day, we ended up in separate seats on the high-speed ferry. For these guests, Hiroshima came near the end of their trip, and they had already eaten okonomiyaki in both Osaka and Hiroshima, and could not eat seafood, so we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant that served the ramen they wanted. We bought momiji manju at a shop and ate them with complimentary tea in front of the carp pond. They purchased chopsticks as souvenirs and had the name of a friend, "TOM," engraved on them. It was a perfectly clear, cloudless day, and we were able to take many great photos. The guests were fairly quiet, and at first there were not many questions, so it took a little time to warm up, but on the high-speed ferry back we were able to talk about politics and about themselves, and we finished the tour on an enjoyable note.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Nagoya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nagoya Castle, Tokugawaen, and Osu The guests traveled from Tokyo to Nagoya by Shinkansen on the morning of the tour, so they were fortunate to avoid the effects of the previous day's bad weather. The itinerary agreed upon in advance with the guests included Nagoya Castle, lunch, Tokugawaen Garden, and the Osu shopping area. Since there was no wait for lunch and the tour progressed smoothly, we had extra time, so on the way from Tokugawaen to Osu we stopped by Oasis 21 in Sakae, where the guests enjoyed the views of the city and the shops. During a break at a cafe in Osu, the guests asked me to recommend a good restaurant for dinner. I suggested a ryotei-style restaurant near their hotel (Hotel), and on the way back to the hotel we passed in front of the restaurant so they could confirm its location. I gave the guests a note with the restaurant's name and contact information so that the hotel concierge could contact the restaurant in advance, and they were very pleased.

    What Is a Private Bus Day Tour of Kamakura Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Because the previous day had brought typhoon rain and the paths were often muddy, I arranged an itinerary using the bus. Their requests were Hokokuji Temple (west of Kamakura) and Kenchoji Temple (north of Kamakura), so we connected the route from west to north, crossing by Hachimangu Shrine. Since Kenchoji Temple was chosen at the request of one of the guests, after visiting they bought a souvenir. One of the guests seemed to enjoy the garden at Kenchoji Temple. Around Kita-Kamakura, the group became hungry, but since we could not find a suitable place for lunch, considering the afternoon itinerary, we returned to Kamakura Station for the meal. After eating, we visited the Great Buddha (they went inside it) and Hasedera Temple. At Hasedera Temple the hydrangeas were not yet in bloom, but they strolled through the path-like garden afterward and were delighted, saying "it was very beautiful." At Hasedera Temple they enjoyed the view of the sea, so I took them to Inamuragasaki before we parted ways.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America, and I guided them around Miyajima and the Peace Memorial Park under clear skies. Since one of the guests found walking a little difficult, I made sure we walked as slowly as possible. It left an impression on me how one member of the group carefully rephrased my explanations to help others in the group understand. The guests mentioned that they had held a wedding ceremony in Siena in central Italy, and drawing on my own memories of living in Italy, we enjoyed a lively conversation together. The Peace Memorial Museum was extremely crowded, and ticket sales had been temporarily suspended to limit entry. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we entered and I guided them through quickly, weaving between groups of school field-trip students. Since crowding had been anticipated, I explained the history and reality of the atomic bombing during the train ride from Miyajima into central Hiroshima.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Car Tour of Kyoto from a Cruise Ship? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group of visitors from North America who were in Japan aboard a cruise ship. They were cheerful people with a strong interest in Japan and Japanese culture, asking many questions at each destination as well as in the car, making it a lively day of sightseeing throughout. Since they planned to explore Kyoto on their own the following day, they requested a car tour focused mainly on locations away from the city center, so we decided to visit Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kinkaku-ji. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, a wide range of questions came up about Shinto, the meaning of the torii gates, how to worship, and the significance of the vermilion color. While answering these questions, I guided them through the main shrine and Senbon Torii, and they tried their luck at the power spots. In Arashiyama, I guided them through Tenryu-ji Temple, taking time to show them the strolling-style garden and the plant garden. They fully enjoyed the natural beauty created by the fresh green foliage as we also walked through the bamboo grove. They took many commemorative photos, which took a fair amount of time, but I believe that shows how much they enjoyed it. From the bamboo grove, we passed through Kameyama Park. Although we could not see the beautiful Hozugawa River due to the heavy rain the day before, we then moved on to Kinkaku-ji, where they again took many photos with the beautiful golden building and garden as the backdrop. Finally, the guests expressed a wish to have dinner in a shopping district, so I guided them through Nishiki Market. At the end, we moved from there to an electronics store in Kawaramachi, where I introduced several of the restaurants on its upper floor before we parted ways.

    Can You Do a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Starting in Shibuya? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were highly enthusiastic sightseers who insisted that walking long distances would be no problem at all. While being mindful of the wellbeing of one of the guests, I arranged the tour to fulfill their wish to visit as many desired locations as possible, choosing routes with minimal stair climbing and building in frequent breaks. Although the group was staying in Shibuya, they had not yet experienced the Hachiko statue or the famous crossing, so we started there before moving on using public transportation. We were able to successfully cover all the places they had mentioned wanting to see. The group also had hearty appetites, so for lunch they ordered a course meal and greatly enjoyed it. They mentioned that they would be visiting Kyoto and Osaka next. In Kyoto they planned to try a kimono dressing experience, and when they asked whether it would be a problem, I advised them to be sure to mention the situation to the staff at the time of dressing, and not to overdo it since the obi sash is tied tightly.

    What's a One-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, and it was their first visit to Japan. The guests had come to Japan after being invited to serve as a seminar lecturer at an academic conference in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture. Having arrived in Japan two weeks earlier, the guests gave a lecture and provided guidance in Kurobe City, then visited Kanazawa and Kyoto before arriving in Tokyo the previous evening. After today's sightseeing in Tokyo, the guests were scheduled to return home on an evening flight later in the day. The guests wished to visit as many spots in the city as possible. At the guests' request, we started 30 minutes earlier than planned. The weather forecast called for rain all day, but it hardly rained at all, and we enjoyed the tour under fortunate conditions. First, in line with their wishes, we headed to the Tsukiji Outer Market. The guests asked questions such as, "We also visited a fish market in Toyama, but this one is much larger and far more crowded," "Do people in Tokyo all buy their fish here?" and "When did this market start?" At Meiji Jingu Shrine, the guests asked, "What kind of religion is Shinto?" "How does Buddhism differ from Shinto?" and "What are the torii gates for?" Within the shrine grounds, we came across a wedding procession and took photographs. We strolled along Takeshita Street and Omotesando. The guests commented, "There are many shops originating from Europe and North America." Moving on to Shibuya, we saw the Scramble Crossing and the Hachiko statue, then went to a sushi restaurant in Shibuya for lunch. The guests said, "As expected, sushi eaten in Japan is fresh and delicious." Moving on to Shinjuku, we strolled through Kabukicho and Omoide Yokocho, then went to the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The guests remarked, "Now I understand how vast and sprawling Tokyo is." The guests made comments such as, "The city is clean," "There is no litter on the streets," "It's inconvenient that there are so few trash cans," and "Everyone is quiet on the trains — no one speaks loudly." We saw the guests off at their hotel, ending the tour.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    What's a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I believe the guests enjoyed the day overall. To help them better understand the exhibits at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, we first visited the hypocenter, then the Atomic Bomb Dome, Aioi Bridge, Motoyasu Bridge, the Rest House, the Children's Peace Monument, and the Cenotaph, before entering the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. After that, although we were pressed for time, we visited the G7 Memorial. As the guests were from North America, they looked very attentively at the photographs and messages related to the leaders. As always, the okonomiyaki at the lunch restaurant was very well received. I was surprised that all of the guests finished their meals completely. There were many school-trip students visiting the same restaurant today as well. On Miyajima, because the guests did some shopping along the way, we did not have much time, so we mainly visited Itsukushima Shrine and Daiganji Temple. They happily took photos at the photo spots. Since they wanted to buy okonomiyaki sauce, I accompanied them to a supermarket inside Hiroshima Station. They took a taxi back to their hotel from the north exit, so we said goodbye at the taxi stand.

    I was born and raised in Hiroshima, and began guiding services in full swing in July 2023. I am a second-generation of A-bomb survivor. Neither of my parents told much about the war, but I can tell you some of their experiences. In Hiroshima City, I can tell you about Peace Park, Peace Memorial Museum, and other monuments. In Miyajima, I can tell you about Itsukushima Shrine, Daigan-ji Temple, Daisho-in Temple, etc. Hiroshima has some specialties such as okonomiyaki, oysters, and conger eel.     Title: What's a Private Hiroshima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Peace Memorial Museum and Local Transport The guests were visitors from North America. Since one of the guests preferred vegetarian meals, I reserved a vegetarian restaurant for lunch in advance. Perhaps having experienced that vegetarian restaurants are limited during their trip in Japan, just before arriving at the restaurant they kindly said, "Thank you for finding a vegetarian place for us." At the restaurant, a question came up about the relationship between Hiroshima, North America, and the former Soviet Union. I answered to the best of my knowledge. There is a description of this inside the Atomic Bomb Museum as well, and the guests said they had never heard anything back home about how the former Soviet Union and North America had been competing to develop nuclear weapons. They also said they were glad to learn for the first time about the relationship between the end of the war and the Emperor. After finishing the museum tour, they were delighted, saying, "We're so glad you brought us all the way here. We could never have made it this far on our own, and we couldn't have used all the little tricks you did along the way." On this day the guests had an ICOCA card. When boarding the bus, they asked, "I wonder how much balance is left," so when they tapped the card and it displayed 680 yen, I told them so. They were worried about topping up, but I explained, "You plan to take the bus three times, so at 220 yen x 3 times that's 660 yen, which should be just enough." However, when we returned to Hiroshima Station, the bus driver said, "Not enough, not enough," so the guests topped up on the spot and got off. Since I had checked the balance display together with the guests in the morning, I decided to check the ICOCA transaction history. It seems both the guests and I had misread the balance, perhaps due to some difficulty seeing small numbers. It was not "680 yen" but originally "630 yen." We rode the bus three times, 220 yen x 3 = 660 yen, meaning we were 30 yen short. The guests said, "I only paid 30 yen, so even if it was some kind of mistake, I don't mind," but I wanted to keep money matters clear, so I confirmed it. I had them look at the printed history, and they were fully satisfied, which I was glad about. There was one more matter. After arriving at Hiroshima Station, the guests asked me to look at their return Shinkansen ticket. When I checked, there was only a boarding ticket and no limited express ticket. They were confused, as they did not have the concept that both a boarding ticket and a limited express ticket are needed to ride the Shinkansen. Also, a receipt had been issued on the same colored paper, so it seems they had become completely confused about what was what. I guided them to the JR counter for foreign visitors, and they were able to purchase the return limited express ticket without any trouble. Between checking the ICOCA history and assisting with the return Shinkansen limited express ticket, the tour ended 30 minutes over the scheduled time. That is all.

    Hello! My name is Miki. I was born and brought up in Hiroshima. I enjoy traveling around Inland Sea areas and I enjoy chatting with guests from overseas!

    In Hiroshima, you can see many beautiful rivers and old bridges. Lately, I often take photos of Hiroshima city including bridges and rivers. There are not many tall buildings here, but I know some places you can visit and see the view for free. By the atomic bomb dome, there is a building called Orizuru(paper crane) Tower. You need to pay to go up to the top floor but you can see the view of Hiroshima city and the Miyajima Island(Itsukushima).

    Many tourists from overseas as well as Japan want to visit Miyajima Island. You can see a beautiful shrine from Heian Period which is around 12th century and a huge Torii gate in front of the shrine and it is in the water. There are several ways to visit the island from Hiroshima city. If you are going to stay near JR Hiroshima Station, we will visit the island by JR train and JR ferry. If you are staying in the city area, we can go there by streetcar and ferry, or there is a high-speed boat from Peace Memorial Park pier directly to the island and vise versa.
