What Is a Private Toyosu and Tsukiji Market Tour Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who had already been staying for several days at a Hotel within walking distance of the Tsukiji Outer Market. They had heard from a friend who had watched the tuna auction back in the old Tsukiji days, before the move to Toyosu, that it was no longer as interesting after the relocation, so their expectations were not high. Perhaps because of that, their expectations were pleasantly exceeded and they seemed satisfied. Since we arrived early, before the auction began, I carefully explained the reasons for the relocation. One of the guests was surprised by the speed of the auction. In the produce building, the guests observed with great interest. As they had already visited Tsukiji several times during their stay, I guided them to the fish market building, which also houses the intermediate wholesalers, and by good luck we were able to see a tuna being cut up at a seafood shop. At Tsukiji I also talked about dashi, showing them katsuobushi, kombu, and flying fish, and we did a tasting of dashi. Still, my point of reflection is that for guests like these, who had already explored Tsukiji on their own, it might have been better to devote more time to Toyosu.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

Title: What's a Private Hiroshima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. Some of the guests owned a Mazda car and had hoped to visit the Mazda Museum, but there was not enough time this trip, so they decided against it. However, they viewed the exhibits with great enthusiasm and took many photos. They also listened attentively to my explanations, which made guiding them rewarding. In particular, one of the guests read the exhibit descriptions very carefully, and I was impressed by that. I explained about Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and guided the group to an okonomiyaki restaurant before we parted ways.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Skytree and Solamachi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private walking tour of Tokyo for a guest visiting Japan. At the start of the tour, the guest expressed a preference to travel by taxi rather than walk, so I asked the hotel front desk to arrange one. When we arrived at Tokyo Skytree, there was a line to purchase tickets. The guest asked how long the wait would be, and I explained it would be about 20 minutes, offering to skip it and move on to the next destination if preferred. The guest wished to go up to the observation deck, so we waited about 20 minutes and then headed up. Afterward, the guest wanted to buy a hat, so I guided them to Solamachi. When the guest wanted to take a break, I took them to the food court within Solamachi. We traveled by train and moved through crowded areas during the tour. As a guide, I made sure to provide proper service throughout. Since it was a walking tour, but the guest preferred not to walk, we traveled by taxi for all sections except between Ueno and Otemachi.

I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.

I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!

    # What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, having arrived in Kyoto from Tokyo the previous day. As it was their first day in Kyoto, we planned to visit the city's most representative sightseeing spots. Since the guests preferred to move quickly and efficiently, and a chartered car was used, we were able to cover four locations with ease, and the guests seemed very satisfied. They had a strong interest in Japanese history and asked many questions along the way. They were also interested in Japanese blades, so I finished the tour by guiding them to Aritsugu in Nishiki. They were very easy to guide.

My name is Shoji and I’m a tour guide in Kyoto, an ancient capital of Japan for more than one thousand years until the mid 19th century.
I have been doing this work since 2019 covering not only Kyoto but also its surrounding areas like Nara , Osaka and Shiga.
I am very much interested in Japanese history, culture and traditional arts.
Kyoto and the Kansai region are rich with many heritage sites of historical and cultural features.
I am sure that I can provide the guests with good insight and help them appreciate the charms of our wonderful city.

What's a Half-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like Before Returning Home? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came from North America. They had flown into Tokyo, traveled to various places by cruise ship with Tokyo as the final stop, and then came for a half-day tour of Kyoto on the day before returning home, taking the 18:02 bullet train back to Tokyo and flying home the next day. We met at the food court in the basement of the Kyoto Tower building and carried out the tour almost exactly as scheduled. One of the guests loves animals, especially turtles. At the Kyoyochi Pond of Ryoan-ji Temple we saw turtles basking on the rocks, at the Sogenchi Pond of Tenryu-ji Temple we spotted a large soft-shell turtle, and in a small stream we saw a bullfrog, which everyone found very exciting. At a specialty bamboo goods shop in Arashiyama, the guests purchased a bamboo turtle ornament. It was a short tour of four hours, but I believe the guests enjoyed it.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!

Title: What's a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, and Shibuya At the hotel, a guide from another company was also waiting for the same guests. It appeared the guests had made a double booking, and they decided to proceed together with both guides. However, once we reached the first station, it was decided that two guides were not necessary, and the other guide was asked to return home. The group was a group of relatives visiting from North America. Two of them acted separately and did not join, so we started with the remaining members. Upon arriving at Meiji Shrine, one of the guests experienced back pain and returned to the hotel by taxi. The irises at Meiji Jingu Gyoen appeared to be in full bloom, and when I suggested visiting, the guests showed interest, but they decided to skip it out of consideration for the stamina of one member of the group. When I explained how to worship at Meiji Shrine, several of them offered prayers. We walked along Takeshita Street, where they purchased colorful cotton candy at Totti Candy Factory and happily took photos together. They showed interest in a capsule toy shop, prepared coins using a currency exchange machine, and enjoyed themselves. They were also delighted by the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and took photos there. The tour was scheduled until 5:00, but since they had also booked an evening tour and wanted to return to the hotel by 4:00, I escorted them back to the hotel and we parted a little early. The hotel is directly connected to Otemachi Station's C13b exit, but the station signage can be hard to see in places, so care was needed. Although it was a short tour, everyone expressed their thanks, and I was grateful for the wonderful encounter with such a lovely group.

What Does a Private Kyoto Day Tour Include? Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama by a Licensed Guide I met the guests at the Hotel a little earlier than the scheduled meeting time and discussed the day's itinerary with them. Since they had already visited Kiyomizu-dera Temple, we decided to tour Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryoan-ji Temple, Tenryu-ji Temple, Kameyama Park, the Hozu River, and the Togetsukyo Bridge. We traveled to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine by subway and train. I explained Shinto shrines and the Shinto religion as we visited the main hall, and we descended while the guests enjoyed the Senbon Torii path. The guests suggested that we use taxis for transportation after Fushimi, so we used taxis to move between all the remaining destinations. As a result, we were able to visit many sightseeing spots despite the heat, which seemed to work out well for the guests. In particular, at Ryoan-ji Temple, I gave a philosophical explanation of the teachings of Zen while they took their time savoring the rock garden, and they truly enjoyed it. From Ryoan-ji we visited the gardens of Tenryu-ji Temple, then came out to the bamboo grove and took photographs while going around Kameyama Park, the Hozu River, and the Togetsukyo Bridge. At that point the guests said they would like to explore Arashiyama a bit more on their own, so we parted ways there.

After a rather long teaching experience at Japanese college, I converted my career about 6 years ago into working as a tour guide for the tourists visiting Japan.
As my career overseas, I’ve been in the UN and the Japanese Embassy, all in the USA, totaling more than 6 years.
And then I had made a big change in my career from a diplomat to an academic researcher. For that career to achieve, I studied abroad and won a doctorate degree in linguistics from Indiana University and landed a teaching position at college in Japan.
With all these interesting and exciting experiences I’ve made myself ready to enrich your tour and make it both enjoyable and worthwhile.

Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from South America who traveled to Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. Because the meeting time at the Hotel was an early 8:00, we began by explaining Japanese history before setting off. In an old downtown district, we watched the powerful Shingon Buddhist "Goma" fire ritual, a form of esoteric Buddhism, holding our breath as the drums and conch shells filled the air. Afterward, the guests received the "Ohikaji" fire blessing over their wallets, hoping for good fortune. For lunch, the guests wished to have authentic sushi and savored the real thing. Wanting to return again on their own, they even received the restaurant's business card. What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Garden Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from Europe. As some of the guests were fond of gardens, I had originally set the final stop as the Tenmangu Shrine, but I decided on short notice to take them to Ryoanji Temple instead. Coming from Europe, they were deeply moved by the rock garden of Ryoanji Temple, which had been admired by Queen Elizabeth. Some of the guests loved the quiet atmosphere of Daikakuji Temple, while others were impressed by the overwhelming beauty of Kinkakuji Temple. Since they planned to explore Osaka freely the following day, I sent them an email explaining how to get from the Hotel to Osaka Station and to various locations.

Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Rikugien and Yanaka in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests' accommodation was a Hotel in Toyosu, which we used as the meeting point. Although the Hotel was about a 10-minute walk from Toyosu Station, we were able to use a shuttle bus, which saved time. Also, in response to the guests' request, we changed the tour start time to 9:00. This time I guided the guests mainly around Rikugien Garden and Yanaka. As expected, the hydrangeas at Rikugien were beautiful, and I believe the guests enjoyed the quiet atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Since there was a request to be taken to the Tokyo National Museum after visiting Yanaka, I left Sansaki-zaka out of the course in Yanaka and instead guided them clockwise, focusing on Yomise-dori and Yanaka Ginza. After that, we walked toward Ueno from the direction of Tokyo University of the Arts and ended the tour in front of the museum.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.
