Title: What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour Before Exploring on Your Own? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of three visiting from Europe, with a strong love of Japan. Marking a family milestone, they undertook a long-awaited two-week trip to Japan, staying in Tokyo and Kyoto. To help them move around Tokyo freely on their own the following day, [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide explained in detail during the tour how to ride the subway and the Yamanote Line, and how to purchase Shinkansen tickets to Kyoto, which they were very happy about. All of the places we visited were locations the guests had selected when we met in the hotel lobby. In addition, when I asked what they would like for lunch, they asked whether we could visit the fish market, so I included it in the itinerary. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the sushi, which was wonderful.

I acquired national guide license in 2014, and I have been doing guide work full fledged since 2016. In my career before starting guide work, I was a business man and made more than 1,000 business trips both abroad and in Japan, and that experience is my foundation as a guide because I came to know so many places both abroad and in Japan. I have been taking care of both group and individual tourists, and the number of foreign guests I have taken care is close to 2,500 so far. I am based in Tokyo, but I can cover guide work in many prefectures throughout Japan. When I take care of foreign guests, my major concern is to listen attentively to them, find out what they want to know and do in Japan, and give them appropriate guiding in accordance with what I heard from my guests. I would like to provide tailor made tour as much as possible for every precious guest who kindly chose Japan as the tour destination.

    • 9:30~10:45 Nijo Castle

Can You Do a Private Kyoto Day Tour Visiting Nijo Castle and Fushimi Inari? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had little interest in Japanese history but were curious about food, kimono, and anime. Some of the guests wanted to visit the Monkey Park in Arashiyama, but as there was not enough time, we rescheduled that for the following day and instead visited Nijo Castle and Fushimi Inari Taisha. At Nijo Castle, since the series "Shogun," starring Hiroyuki Sanada, had recently started on television, we talked about that as well as the history of the Tokugawa shogunate. The group was captivated by the wall paintings, the decorations of the buildings, and the carvings. At Fushimi Inari, they energetically climbed up to the midway point of Mount Inari, gazing curiously at the old torii gates and the fox statues at the shrines along the way. After coming back down, the group enjoyed some light refreshments at the food stalls in front of the gate.

Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.

What's a Private Walking Tour of Sapporo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who were in town while attending a conference. They enjoyed the flower festival being held in Odori Park and the rose garden in full bloom. As they enjoy winter sports, we visited the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium and the Olympic Museum together as a set. At Hokkaido Shrine, which they had requested, they listened attentively as I explained the etiquette for offering prayers. After shopping at a supermarket near Maruyama-koen Station, we parted ways at Sapporo Station. The temperature was 20°C, and although we walked quite a lot, the guests were satisfied with a cool and comfortable walking tour.

Title: What's a Private Family Sightseeing Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Their arrival the previous day had been delayed, so the tour began while some fatigue still lingered. At the plaza in front of the Imperial Palace, I explained about the castle, samurai, shoguns, and the emperor. When I mentioned that, according to the Kojiki, the emperor is said to be a descendant of the gods, the guests were surprised. The weather was bright and sunny, and the temperature rose, so at Takeshita Street one of the guests first bought a parasol and a hat. At Meiji Shrine, I explained Shinto, shrines, and how Japanese people distinguish between Shinto and Buddhism in daily life. At the pair of camphor trees, some of the guests took a photo of a kiss (laughs). After crossing the Shibuya crossing, at the request of one of the guests I introduced a manga goods shop and a Pokémon shop, and afterward, at the request of another guest, I took the group to a cat cafe, where the tour concluded.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hamarikyu, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report Taking advantage of the location of the guests' hotel, we walked to Hamarikyu Gardens. Since a heat wave was expected along the way, I encouraged breaks as needed. At Hamarikyu, I explained the life of feudal lords and the domain system of the shogunate through the old Japanese houses and duck-hunting grounds. As the temperature was rising, I entered through the Otemon Gate and exited through the Nakanogomon Gate so that our walking paths would not overlap, and we quickly reached Shiodome Station. The forest of Meiji Shrine is cool and refreshing, which is a great help even on scorching days. The guests made wishes on omamori charms and ema plaques. Since one of the guests had such beautiful handwriting, I suggested that stationery might make a good purchase in Japan, and it turned out that stationery was exactly what they had been looking for, so I introduced some options. In Asakusa, I gave directions to the tool street district before we parted ways. Despite the extreme heat, I felt that the guests enjoyed the day.

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.

Despite my experience as a guide for just two years, we can make the best out of our tour by travelling from your hotel to spots time-efficiently with my local knowledge, while accommodating your unexpected requests during the tour.
My strong area includes Yanesen; Old Temples in a Quaint Village, Kamakura, Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. All give you peace of mind.

Title: What Can You See on a Private Family-Style Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Japan during the summer holidays, and one of them had lived in Japan in the past and wished for others in the group to experience Japanese history and culture. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. Following the requests received in advance, including a visit to Asakusa, I guided the group to the spots they had hoped to see. Since I had also heard beforehand that the guests were big fans of Studio Ghibli, on the way to Hamarikyu Gardens we stopped by the "Nittele Large Clock" designed by Hayao Miyazaki, which they were very happy to see. As the guests had requested ramen for lunch, I took them to a ramen restaurant in Sendagi. It was a very hot day, but I believe the guests were satisfied throughout the entire tour.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!

Title: What's a Private Half-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Ginza, Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests were first-time visitors to Japan from Europe. They planned to visit Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka, and in Tokyo they had also booked Shibuya Sky and teamLab. Their hotel was located at the edge of Ginza-dori near Shimbashi Station, so we walked along the main Ginza avenue, and I introduced the major buildings, cafes, and restaurants as we headed toward Ginza Station. From there we took the Ginza Line to Asakusa. They planned to have lunch after the 4-hour tour ended. On the way from Asakusa to Meiji Shrine, we got off once at Tokyo Station, and when I introduced the station building, they told me they had learned in advance that there is a Ramen Street in the underground area of Tokyo Station. The guests showed a clear interest in food, mentioning a wish to try tenmusu (described as "shrimp tempura wrapped in rice"). At the final stop, Shibuya, just before saying goodbye, I recommended a sushi restaurant, and we parted ways there. Although the heat was intense, the guests looked cheerful, full of anticipation for the sushi lunch they were about to enjoy. I believe it turned out to be a satisfying tour.

Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like for a Vegetarian Guest? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from Oceania who was visiting Kyoto. The guest had arrived at Narita the previous day, transferred, and traveled from Itami Airport to the hotel. The charger the guest had brought from home did not match Japanese electrical outlets, and their iPhone was nearly out of power, so I lent the guest my portable charger to recharge it. I also helped the guest purchase a Japan-compatible iPhone charger at a convenience store along the way. The itinerary was: Nijo Castle → Nishiki Market → To-ji Temple → Fushimi Inari. The guest followed a vegetarian diet, and at Nishiki Market they enjoyed a variety of foods, including: – Wet okaki rice crackers – Furikake tasting (two vegetarian-friendly varieties) – At Motozo: grilled thick tofu with Kujo green onion, edamame, nama-fu dengaku, and pickled Kyoto vegetables – A tasting of honey-yuzu juice

    Hello!
I’m Ichiro F. I’m a government-certified English guide. I guide in Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Kobe. Since I started in March 2023, I’ve already led over 130 tours.
(I am 64 years old, live in a city that is the western neighbor of Osaka City, married, and have one daughter who is 30 years old. My favorite pastimes are reading books and going to a gym. )

In September 2019, I retired from an IT company after working there for 37 years, because I turned 60. At that time, I wanted to start something new. I had never lived outside of Japan or used English in my previous job. But, I had been learning English on my own for almost 50 years. I also love reading about Japanese history and culture. That’s why being a guide for English-speaking visitors is perfect for me.

I got my government license in February 2020, but then COVID-19 happened, and Japan closed its borders. I had to wait three years to start working. But, that time was good for preparing. I learned more about Japan and traveled around Kyoto and other places.

I finally started guiding in March 2023 and really enjoy it. Japan, especially Kyoto, has many historical places. Japan has four seasons, and I can experience the changes by walking outside with my clients. The more I guide, the more I know about it. Now, I guide about 15 days a month.

Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Kobe each have their own history and places that amaze foreign visitors. I’m confident I can give you the best experience while visiting Japan. Please feel free to ask what I can offer you.

What Does a Morning Private Tokyo Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, and Akihabara The spots the guests had requested were four places: the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, Tsukiji, and Akihabara. However, Tsukiji was closed that day, so it was removed from the course. Since it was an early tour starting at 8:00, before visiting Tokyo Tower, which opens at 9:00, I guided the group to nearby Zojoji Temple. For the first stretch between Shibuya and Hamamatsucho, we used the Yamanote Line. Some of the guests clearly reacted much more strongly to Tokyo Tower and the goods in Akihabara than to the historical talk at the East Gardens. On the other hand, one of the guests seemed interested in Japanese history and enthusiastically asked many questions. Since I had heard that the guests wanted to visit the SAMURAI NINJA MUSEUM TOKYO in Tawaramachi after the tour, I explained in Akihabara how to get there using the Ginza Line. After showing the group around Akihabara, I confirmed that they wished to continue shopping, and ended the tour in front of Suehirocho Station.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report 1. We are retired people. 2. How did you know we are from North America? We've now moved to another part of North America. 3. I have not received any mail from the travel agency, none. 4. We have to take a limousine, no alternative. 5. You're a fabulous guide. 6. So, this is the 13th-generation president and owner of the tea house. 7. Is this the major highway of the time? An elephant walked along this to Tokyo? 8. We are aware of "feng shui." The north east is called a devil's gate? We designed our home to have the bathroom and toilets in the lower place. 9. We could not see anything at the cross-border patrol office at all, due to the white mist. The weather is getting worse. 10. What is the most traditional jewelry that Japanese people like? Amethyst? 11. College students run 68 miles from Tokyo and finish in 5 hours, that's very fast. That takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of January? 12. Sorry, some of the guests are just tired out because of the time difference, and we are wet and need a hot shower.

Hello, welcome to Japan you all.

I’m a resident of Ebina, Kanagawa, and am a national government licensed guide and interpreter.
