The guests all had Suica cards, so the tour proceeded smoothly. At Tsukiji, the guests wanted to eat tuna, so I guided them to a shop selling sushi, where they enjoyed their meal on the rooftop. It was well received. Afterward, the guests wanted to eat wagyu beef, so I guided them to a restaurant, and they seemed very satisfied. The guests seemed fond of stamps, so at Tsukiji they looked up stamp locations and I guided them there. At Meiji Shrine they purchased a goshuin (shrine seal) book, and they also purchased one at Nezu Shrine. In Asakusa we encountered heavy rain, so we rested for a while under the roof of the main hall before returning to the hotel. A tip was received with gratitude.

    Title: What Is a Private Family Tour of Takayama Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Beforehand I had asked about preferred stops and their interests in Japanese culture, but since I did not receive a reply, I asked them at the start of the tour. As they preferred to have the guide plan things, and given the ages within the group, I suggested including some hands-on experiences, which they agreed to. Rain was forecast to continue throughout the tour, so I planned to arrange as much indoor time as possible while conducting the tour. In the old town district, the guests had already enjoyed tastings at a sake brewery and a miso shop the previous day, so partly to take shelter from the rain, we stopped by a local folk craft exhibition. They happily chose and purchased folk crafts such as items depicting the twelve zodiac animals. During the explanation at the Takayama Jinya, some of the guests listened very attentively, but I could tell that others in the group grew bored partway through, so I wrapped up the stroll through the old town a little early and moved on to the experiences. Following their interests, they enjoyed two hands-on activities at the same time in two locations. While talking with one of the guests who was not taking part in an activity at that moment, I learned of an interest in older anime such as Mazinger Z, so at the end I guided them to the Showa-kan museum. It seemed to match their interests, and the group enjoyed it together. Yes.

    What Is a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America and had arrived in Japan a few days earlier. Before this tour they had walked around the Shinjuku area and ridden go-karts in Asakusa (though they had not seen Senso-ji Temple). They mentioned they would visit the Samurai Ninja Museum the next day, and since I assumed it was in Asakusa, I checked the location and found it was in Shiomi, so I explained the way there as clearly as possible. They also planned to visit Mount Fuji afterward, so I confirmed whether they would depart from Shinjuku or Tokyo, and they said it was in front of the Shinjuku Mode Gakuen building, which I had already pointed out as the Cocoon Building during today's itinerary, so there seemed to be no problem. Everything had been booked through an online booking platform, but since they were not familiar with the area, I was glad I could explain things today. After that, they planned to travel around the Kansai region. Today's itinerary was designed to match their requests made in advance, but it ended up involving quite a lot of walking. On the way back from Meiji Shrine, one of the guests began to walk more slowly, and this became even more noticeable at Tsukiji. Their complexion was fine, but it seemed their feet were hurting. It appeared they were not used to walking much in daily life. Considering how things were going, I rearranged the plan to visit the area in front of Shinjuku Station first, since it involved less walking, and saved Shinjuku Gyoen for last. As I had anticipated, one of the guests returned directly to the hotel, and I took the other to Shinjuku Gyoen, where we strolled a little before returning to the station and parting ways.

    I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
    After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

    I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    What's a Full-Day Private Hakone Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report After meeting the guests at the Hotel at 9:00 a.m., we took the bus to Motohakone and visited Hakone Shrine. The guests received the shrine's stamp in their goshuincho (seal collection book), took photos at the Peace Torii, and fully enjoyed experiencing a Japanese shrine. After a cruise on Lake Ashi, we headed to Choanji Temple in Sengoku, where the guests spent a calm, peaceful time in the quiet, wooded grounds while sensing the difference between the two types of religious sites, a shrine and a temple. Lunch was at our usual Japanese restaurant, where the guests enjoyed fresh sashimi caught at Odawara Fishing Port.     What Is a Full-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The itinerary included an unplanned café break and an extension request (1.5 hours), resulting in the following route: Hotel → Fushimi Inari Taisha → Sanjusangendo → Nijo Castle → lunch (a Kyoto cuisine restaurant) → café → Nanzenji → Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka → Kiyomizudera → Hotel. Despite the rain, it was a long tour totaling 7.5 hours, yet the guests showed no signs of fatigue and walked energetically. Both were very friendly and easygoing. While traveling from one sightseeing spot to another, our conversation ranged widely, covering topics such as family, work and workplaces, diet, and lifestyle, as well as debate education, medicine and alcohol, employment of older people, pet keeping, and the protection of stray cats. It was also a tour that involved frequent use of trains and subways, and the guests were amazed by the functionality, comfort, and cleanliness of Japan's railways. For lunch, I introduced them to a restaurant with a distinctly Kyoto atmosphere, where they thoroughly enjoyed authentic Japanese cuisine.

    Title: What's a Private 4-Hour Matsushima Tour from Sendai Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, some based in North America, with relatives in Sendai. From the assignment stage, the meeting date and place changed several times, which was a source of some worry, but we finally managed to make it happen. At one point a change to the following day was proposed, but due to a visit to a family grave and other plans, they decided to keep the original date. A travel agency was arranged on their side, and that representative acted as an intermediary for much of the communication. It seemed they had not been aware that the accommodation was far from Sendai Station. Arriving on a shinkansen just after 11:00, they had a busy time getting from Sendai Station to the Hotel, dropping off luggage, and having lunch. When I met the group's representative in front of the Hotel, they were sitting in the garden and looked a little tired. There were times when I could not reach the representative to finalize the plan, but it seemed the detailed planning was handled within the group. A 4-hour slot with a request for the Matsushima sightseeing cruise and Zuiganji Temple was quite tight considering the travel distance from the Hotel, but they agreed to allocate about 30 minutes for Zuiganji after getting off the cruise, with the tour ending on the train. Extending the time had been proposed before, but the request was to keep it as it was, so I found a compromise within the limited time, and the group agreed. With that in mind, I had prepared in advance an English map of Sendai with the route to the Hotel highlighted. On the way to the station I handed it over saying, "We'll walk along this route," and it was passed along to the younger members of the group, who were said to understand it better. I was then asked, "Is there a restaurant that can seat this many people, and a place to buy kokeshi dolls?" so I guided them through the arcade toward the station. As they were traveling with children, I mentioned that family restaurants (such as Marumatsu or Ootoya) might be a good choice. We were able to catch a train one earlier than planned, so after picking up the cruise tickets, we decided to go to Godaido before departure. When one of the guests said, "So you can eat oysters here," I asked, "Would everyone like to go to Godaido, or shall we have free time and meet at the boarding point 10 minutes before departure?" Eight of them came along to Godaido. On the cruise, those traveling with children spent time on the deck, while others relaxed in their seats, each enjoying it in their own way. After disembarking it was 4:00, and from how everyone was talking, I thought Entsuin might be better than Zuiganji, but unfortunately Entsuin closes at 4:30. So we visited Zuiganji as planned. Even though photography was only allowed in the garden, they seemed impressed by the magnificent main hall. The group's intermediary had told me, "If you cannot see them off to the Hotel, please buy their return tickets for them," but everyone, said they would be fine. The guests confirmed with me from the Sendai map I had handed over earlier, "We just walk along the road in this color, right?" and I replied, "Yes.     What Is a Private Two-Day Kyoto Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Since they had two days in Kyoto, I selected and incorporated as many places as possible that would be difficult for the guests to visit on their own, and they were very pleased. Unfortunately it rained on the day, and at times the conditions were quite severe, but I made an effort to arrange viewing from indoors as much as possible and to minimize the impact of the rain. During the tour we stopped at a conveyor-belt sushi chain restaurant, which was very well received. Everything was a first-time experience, and the guests seemed to enjoy it greatly.

    What Can You See on a Rainy-Day Private Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from Europe. As rain was forecast all day, I arranged an itinerary that focused on covered locations. The guests were not very comfortable with English, so at Nijo Castle I used body language and my smartphone to explain things. At Nishiki Market we stopped at three shops, which they greatly enjoyed. When we happened to pass by a dog cafe on Teramachi Street, the guests became interested and went inside, enjoying time playing with the dogs. Since they had a reservation for a tea ceremony experience, they asked if I could take them nearby, so I guided them to the shop and said goodbye there.

    What's a Private Tokyo Food Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Harajuku The guests were a group visiting from North America. Because flight tickets could not be secured all at once, part of the group had arrived a few days earlier and the rest had arrived the previous night. Based on their prior request, we started the tour at the Tsukiji Outer Market. They seemed to have heard about its reputation in advance, and right after arriving they enthusiastically enjoyed tuna sushi, a variety of seafood, and wagyu beef, and were delighted to have beer even in the morning. It seemed to be a trip where eating was a major goal. In the afternoon in Asakusa, the group enjoyed beer and sake at food stalls, while also enjoying drawing omikuji fortunes and the unique atmosphere of Senso-ji Temple. They also found a shop selling traditional "hikeshi" firefighter costumes in the Asakusa shopping street, and seemed to have fun making various purchases there. Finally, since some of the guests wanted to enjoy shopping, we headed to Harajuku, where we concluded the tour.

    Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Shukkeien Garden Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. It was a very hot and humid day. Since the previous port had been Busan, the disembarkation procedures seemed to take some time, but because the guests had requested a relatively late meeting time, we were able to meet on schedule. The exhibition hall inside the museum was very quiet today, so they were able to view it at a leisurely pace. We walked around the memorial monuments within the Peace Memorial Park, folded paper cranes together, and offered them at the Children's Peace Monument. The guests were very fond of animals, and at Shukkeien Garden they delightedly spotted carp, turtles, herons, and crabs. They were also very pleased with the beautiful hydrangeas and lotus flowers.
