What Is a Private Tour for Guests from Europe Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Each of them tended to move around independently, so I guided them while keeping a careful eye out to make sure no one got lost. They were very cheerful and clearly enjoyed the tour, which made guiding them enjoyable for me as well. Since they mentioned that they lived in an area of Europe, I had been concerned about the heat and humidity, but as it was still early in their trip they seemed full of energy and did not appear tired. We ran about 40 minutes over the scheduled time, but I believe they had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Also, due to the extreme heat, a smartphone started malfunctioning, so only a few photos could be taken.

Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Tour of Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari, and Kiyomizu-dera Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was recovering after surgery, so we kept the pace slow throughout the tour, as requested. Fortunately, there was a bus stop right in front of the accommodation with a direct service to Kinkaku-ji, so although it took longer, we made frequent use of buses to reduce the strain on the guest as much as possible. This worked well because the requested destinations were Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari Taisha, and Kiyomizu-dera. We decided to have lunch at Kyoto Station, and when I suggested tonkatsu, the guest was delighted, saying it was exactly one of the dishes they had wanted to try but had missed in Tokyo, and found it very delicious. At Kyoto Station I found a large taxi, and when I explained the guest's situation to the driver, he kindly took us up a slope even higher than Chawan-zaka. It was a great help to have such a kind driver. Since the guest wanted to enjoy a little more shopping around Ninen-zaka, I explained where a taxi could be caught, and we parted ways in front of a coffee shop. I believe the guest was very pleased. Hi! My name is YUKA. I’ve got the government license in 2018 and joined a half year traning to do the guide. But a half year later I started my carreer, Covid came. I should have given up guiding. During the Covid, I’ve read many books and made my own materials to explain Japanese culture, history, etc. I love guiding because the guests expand my horizon all the time and let me know their own country and culture, etc. It is really important for us all to know each other and respect each other to make this world peace. Thank you for coming to Japan! Let’s enjoy Japan together!

What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like from Ikebukuro to Asakusa and Harajuku? A Licensed Guide's Report In the email I sent on the morning of the tour, I mentioned that I would be waiting in the hotel lobby, but the guest did not seem to notice the email and was standing outside the hotel entrance. Thanks to another guest going back inside the hotel to check, we did not lose much time. The guests wished to purchase a 3-day subway pass, so we first completed the process at Ikebukuro Station. To travel from Ikebukuro to Asakusa by subway, it is relatively convenient to transfer to the Oedo Line along the way, but since the distance is considerable, it did take some time. As it was a Saturday, the restaurants everywhere were crowded. This time, since the spots other than Asakusa were close together, there was no major impact, but I felt that caution will be needed going forward. At the end, in front of Takeshita Street, I explained how to return to Ikebukuro Station by subway, and then we parted ways.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

What Is a 4-Hour Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera and Fushimi Inari This was a 4-hour private Kyoto tour for a group visiting from Europe. Even one week beforehand contact had not been possible, but with the support of [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) we were able to get in touch and confirm the tour details in advance. Thank you very much. There was a small hiccup regarding the meeting point on the day of the tour. Just in case, I had called the day before but could not connect, so I left a message saying I would wait in the hotel lobby, and on the day I waited in the lobby. However, after five minutes we had not met, and about ten minutes later the guests were found waiting outside the hotel. They had gone out for breakfast, and since I had been speaking with other guests, those other guests kindly told them that the guide was waiting inside the hotel. There was a loss of about ten minutes, but no harm was done. The hotel reception did not open until 9:00, so I could not confirm the guests there either. I felt that hotels like this require extra caution. For the tour itself, the guests enjoyed the stunning view from Kiyomizu-dera and listened with interest to the story of Koshin-do. Fushimi Inari seemed to make a particularly strong impression on some of the guests, and it was very well received. Finally, I took them to Gion, explained the route from Gion back to the hotel (Keihan train and bus), and said goodbye. It was fortunate that a light rain sprinkled during the tour and the temperature dropped a little. The photo was taken while waiting for the bus.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hida-Takayama Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a friendly and cheerful group from North America. The whole group was warm-hearted, and spending time with them made me feel happy myself. They were delighted to feed the carp at the Miyagawa River. The Yatai Kaikan (Festival Floats Exhibition Hall) charged 900 yen per person even after the discount, so we decided to skip it. The guests said they wanted to walk the Higashiyama Walking Course, but since one member of the group seemed a bit tired at that time, I suggested an alternative route. Toward the end, we also passed by Yamazakura Shrine, where a votive plaque market was being held, and I guided them around as much as possible.

I was born, raised, and still live in Takayama, and I am a licensed National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter.

My guiding philosophy is to create unforgettable memories through warm, cheerful, and engaging experiences. I enjoy sharing not only the highlights of the region, but also the history, culture, and stories that make each place unique.

I studied International Relations at a national university and have built a diverse career in the tourism industry, including hotels, travel agencies, and the local tourism association. Today, I primarily guide luxury travelers, as well as private and group tours, offering authentic cultural experiences, visits with local artisans, and in-depth insights into Japanese traditions.

I also practice Japanese calligraphy, the Omotesenke school of tea ceremony, Sencha (Baisa-ryu), and kimono dressing, allowing me to incorporate traditional Japanese culture into my tours.

I mainly guide in Takayama, Okuhida, Shirakawa-go, Gokayama, Kanazawa, and Kamikochi. I look forward to helping make your visit to Japan a truly memorable experience.

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. They shared that they love traveling together, and after visiting North America last year, they wanted to come to Japan this year to experience a completely different culture. Some of the guests were fluent in English, having studied it at school, and while there were occasional moments when English did not fully get through to others, one of the guests interpreted, so there were no problems. The guests commented that the food in Japan was very delicious, and that Japan was very safe and easy to travel in. On the day of the tour, we visited Miyajima and the Peace Memorial Museum. It was very hot during the day, and the guests were a little worn out by the heat. Before the tour, I had advised them to drink plenty of water to prevent heatstroke, but they did not seem accustomed to the heat in Japan. To help ease the heat even a little, I offered the guests salt candy and cooling goods. At the end, the guests said it had been a wonderful experience and that they were glad they had come to Hiroshima, and we said goodbye with smiles.

Title: What Is a Private Day Tour from Kyoto to Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan while based in Asia. Right after I was assigned as the guide, I was in contact with the person listed as the guest representative in the "detailed information," but it turned out that this person was not one of the actual guests but a friend communicating on their behalf. With advice and support from the staff at [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), I was finally able to reach the actual guests only shortly before the tour date (two days prior), so it was truly a nerve-wracking, "walking on thin ice" start. The day before the tour, I received a message saying that it would be difficult to arrive in Nara by 9:00, and asking to change the meeting time to around 10:00. Since the meeting time is an important matter, I should ideally have reported it to [Japan Guide Agency](https://www.j-g-a.org/) in advance, but there was no time to do so, and out of respect for the guests' wishes I changed the meeting time from 9:00 to 10:00 and the guiding hours from 9:00–15:00 to 10:00–16:00. Please accept this as an after-the-fact report. On the day of the tour itself, another "cold sweat" situation occurred. There had been several exchanges about whether to travel from Kyoto to Nara by the JR line or the Kintetsu line, and in our prior communication I had proposed meeting at Kintetsu Nara, which is close to Kofukuji Temple, and had confirmed this with the guests. However, just before I arrived at Kintetsu Nara Station on the day, I received a message from the guests saying they were heading to JR Nara Station and that it would take about 15 minutes to reach Kintetsu Nara, so they asked me to wait. Given this situation, I judged it best to go ahead and meet them at JR Nara, so I moved to JR Nara Station and was able to greet the group safely. Although there were various risk factors in the prior communication, once I met them at JR Nara everything proceeded smoothly through the entire itinerary, and the guests were basically satisfied. Above all, the two younger members of the group were full of curiosity, friendly, and lively, which I think was a major factor in making this tour enjoyable. With tours that include younger guests, there is always some concern about unexpected accidents due to high energy or changes in their condition, but as long as careful attention is paid to those points, I feel a very enjoyable tour can be had. This time too, it was a very fun and pleasant tour.

Hi, everyone! I’m Norifumi Kamon, a government registered guide interpreter. Please call me “Nori”, or “Kamon-san”.
Let me introdece myself. I was born on April 17th in 1952 in Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. I used to be an English teacher of Osaka Prefectural high school. When I retired from a teacher ten years ago, I decided to get a professional guide license. I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Kamakura and Enoshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Following a request in the previous message to see something other than temples and shrines, I decided to incorporate Enoshima into the latter half of the course. I kept the relatively distinctive Hasedera Temple and Kotoku-in in the itinerary and guided the group there first, and after having lunch in Hase, I took them to Enoshima. Before lunch, I learned that the guests preferred certain foods and that one of them had a peanut allergy, so I paid very close attention when selecting from the menu. I regularly use Hase Shokudo, and I was able to confirm that the meat used in their curry is chicken and that no nuts such as peanuts are used, so I could recommend it with confidence. It had been more than ten years since I last visited Enoshima, but there had been no major changes, so I was able to guide the group without any problems. It was especially well received by the group. This time I guided them all the way to the Iwaya Caves, but as the stairs are steep and demanding, I felt that depending on the age of the guests it might be better to leave this off the course. I also learned that when accompanying guests, a guide can visit the caves free of charge with a special ticket by presenting a guide license, which was useful to know.

Thank you.

What Is a Private Okinawa Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report 30–33°C, sunny. The guests were visitors from North America. Although it was hot, they thoroughly enjoyed the itinerary. The guests were very fond of traveling and, after Okinawa, planned to visit Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka, so they asked many questions about places beyond Okinawa as well. They listened attentively throughout. One of the guests was quite knowledgeable about World War II, understanding both the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere concept and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Since there was strong interest in the war, that topic became the main focus of our conversation.

What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa The guests were a group who had arrived the previous day. They said Meiji Shrine was beautiful and enjoyed strolling through it. Some of the guests loved Pokémon and anime goods, so at Takeshita Street they enjoyed buying merchandise and trying the gashapon machines. In Shibuya, they experienced the Shibuya Crossing and shopped at the Pokémon Center in Parco, and the guests looked very happy. Perhaps because of the heat, it was less crowded than usual. After that, we went to Asakusa, where I guided them to spots such as Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise Street, and the five-story pagoda. As they were hungry, I showed them to a restaurant in Asakusa, and then we parted ways. Afterwards they went on their own to teamLab Planets, and they plan to visit Kyoto tomorrow. Perhaps because of the heat, everywhere seemed less crowded than usual. I believe the whole group was able to enjoy the day together.
