A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Akihabara, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania, having arrived just the day before. In Asakusa, they enjoyed eating ningyo-yaki along Nakamise shopping street and drawing omikuji fortunes. In Akihabara, they did not seem particularly interested in games or anime, but they enjoyed the conveyor-belt sushi we had for lunch. The guests run a farm back home and spend a lot of time playing outdoors, so they mentioned they do not play video games at home. After lunch, we moved to Meiji Shrine, and the group remarked on how beautiful the forest of Meiji Shrine was. On Takeshita Street, they enjoyed eating long fries and sherbet, purchased a hairpin and a T-shirt, and bought candy at a candy shop. Finally, in Shibuya, they experienced the Shibuya Crossing before returning to the hotel, where we parted ways. Since we had walked quite a lot, the guests seemed especially tired. The weather was fine, and I believe they had an enjoyable time.

    What Does a Private Day Tour of Osaka Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a group visiting from North America. They had traveled around Tokyo and Kyoto beforehand. Because we started early today, Osaka Castle was not very crowded, which was fortunate. They were delighted to take good photos at the garden's photo spots. Afterward we visited Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, which was not as crowded as Fushimi Inari Taisha, so they were pleased to enjoy it at a relaxed pace. We had planned to visit Shinsekai, but I learned that they had already been there on a food tour the previous evening, so we changed our destination to Dotonbori, where they enjoyed okonomiyaki at Chibo. Since we had a little extra time, I also took them to the Umeda Sky Building. I believe they had a wonderful time.

    Title: What's a One-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Kappabashi, and Asakusa The guests were a group visiting Japan from Europe, all visiting Japan for the first time. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) arranged this private one-day tour of Tokyo. The group had arrived at Narita Airport the previous night and taken a taxi to their hotel. Customs procedures took some time, so they reached the hotel around 4:00 p.m. Although exhausted, they took a walk around the hotel area the night before and enjoyed teppanyaki. Some of the guests were not very fluent in English, while another member of the group spoke English very well. This tour was a one-day guided experience during their visit to Japan. The group planned to stay in Tokyo before traveling on to Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, then returning home by air from Kansai Airport. For today, the request was to "take a general walk around the city to get a feel for the traffic, atmosphere, and overall vibe." The tour took place under clear skies in weather that was warm, almost hot. Since the guests wanted to buy a "Welcome Suica Card," we first went to the Ekitabi Concierge at Shinjuku Station. After the purchase, following their wishes, we headed to Tsukiji. I explained "the history of the fish market from the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market." They asked questions and made comments such as, "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" and "It's crowded, but it seems like there are a lot of tourists after all." They said they wanted to try some food and ended up buying and sampling grilled beef skewers and matcha ice cream. Next, we went to the Kappabashi Kitchenware Street. The request was, "We really want to buy a kitchen knife," and "if possible, we'd also like to buy scissors for a hairdresser." We strolled slowly along the street and in the end purchased two kitchen knives, though we could not find hairdressing scissors. One comment was, "German blades are also famous, but the sharpness is different — Japanese ones are superior." Then we went to Asakusa. Starting from the front of Kaminarimon Gate, I explained "the history of Senso-ji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos at Kaminarimon and various other spots and strolled slowly through the crowded Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as, "What are the main religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?", and "How many Christians are there?" There was also a question: "We see many people wearing kimono within the temple grounds — why is that?" The guests also made comments and asked questions such as, "It's quiet on the trains — no one is talking loudly," "The city is clean and there's no litter on the ground," and "It's surprising that the public restrooms are clean and free of charge." I saw the group off at Takadanobaba Station, ending the tour.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, and Nishiki Market The guests were visitors from North America. Today there were an extraordinary number of students on school trips, and it felt like about half of the visitors at both Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera were students. They did not do much shopping, buying only some chili oil furikake at Ochanokosaisai and a little incense at Shoyeido. For lunch they had wanted to go to Nishiki Market, so we went, but they were overwhelmed by the shop displays and could not find a place they liked. The guests wanted to have sashimi and tempura, so I had intended to take them to Tatsumi (an izakaya), but it was closed for the day, so I decided to take them to a standing bar instead. However, the atmosphere was a bit too deep and they could not find much they wanted to eat, so we had chikuwa tempura, hamo tempura, hiyayakko, and fried chicken before leaving. I then guided them to a nearby doughnut shop, Koe Donuts, where they decided to eat inside, and lunch was complete. After this, I had them experience thick matcha at Ippodo, then saw them off at their hotel to conclude the tour. It is two days in a row, but they requested that tomorrow's start be at 9:30. Recently, at the Ippodo tea room, you have to wait about 30 minutes before being seated.

    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour by Car Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Some of the guests had visited Japan a few times before for other reasons, but this was their first sightseeing visit, while for others it was their very first time in Japan. They had arrived at Narita the previous afternoon, and today was their first day of sightseeing. I sensed they might be tired from the travel. However, during the tour they were surprisingly energetic. To make sure no one got hurt and no one was pushed too hard, I conducted the tour with care, adjusting the walking pace and distance and occasionally taking breaks on benches. Because we had a private car, we were able to visit five locations efficiently and comfortably. At lunch, they were delighted by how delicious the sushi was, and they also enjoyed some sake. By the end of the tour they seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so it was a rewarding day for me as a guide. The guests plan to travel to Kanazawa, then tour Kyoto, before returning home later in the month. On a separate matter, one of the guests had forgotten to bring a regularly used medication on the trip and wished to purchase it in Japan. So during the tour we stopped by a drugstore in Yanaka. However, according to the pharmacist at the store, that particular medication in the low dosage is only available as a prescription medical product in Japan and requires a doctor's prescription, whereas over-the-counter pharmacies only carry a higher-dosage version intended for fever and pain relief. Therefore, as advice from the pharmacist, I conveyed two options: to consult the embassy to be referred to a doctor, or to split a tablet from a supply already carried within the group.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were from North America. On the day, they asked to change the meeting point to Omicho Market, so the meeting time was changed to 11:15. The guests seemed to enjoy the traditional buildings of the samurai district and the streets lined with earthen walls. For lunch, at a restaurant in Omicho Market, the guests had dishes such as tempura rice bowls and steak rice bowls. Since one of the guests could not have nuts, I checked with the restaurant staff before the meal. As they wanted to have coffee after lunch, the guests had matcha lattes at a coffee shop near Omicho Market. At Oyama Shrine, the guests purchased goshuin stamps and amulets. The guests seemed to greatly enjoy the traditional architecture of Kanazawa Castle and the beautiful scenery of Kenrokuen Garden. One of the guests was collecting stamps, and at Kanazawa Castle they stamped and purchased a castle seal, and at Kenrokuen they also stamped and purchased a garden seal. Since walking too much could cause discomfort for one of the guests, some care was needed regarding this.

    I majored in civil engineering at a college and am interested in historical infrastructures. I have also guided foreign people around Ishikawa Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, and Fukui Prefecture as an international activity of an English circle. I was a volunteer interpreter at the training camp for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021.

    Hokuriku region has a lot of sightseeing spots as follows, beautiful landscapes like Kenrokuen Garden and Tateyama, tasty food like traditional Kaga dishes and fresh seafood from Toyama Bay, traditional crafts like Kaga Yuzen dyeing, Takaoka copperware, and Inami woodcarving. I introduce these spots and historical infra tourism such as Kurobe dam and industrial tourism.

    I also work as a translator. I translated the Japanese firefly squid tourism pamphlet into English in 2020.

    Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like When the Ropeway Is Closed? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Although they had been to Japan several times for work, it was their first time in Hakone. This time, their wish to stay at a Japanese-style ryokan was fulfilled during their stay in Hakone. Just before we were about to take the ropeway from Owakudani, the service was suspended, so we quickly changed our plans and headed to Hakone Shrine. They had already visited several shrines and temples in Tokyo, but when I explained the differences between Buddhism and Shinto and the influence each has had on Japanese culture, they were delighted, saying it helped them understand the behavior and actions of Japanese people. We were fortunate with the weather when we boarded the pirate ship, and although unfortunately we could not see Mount Fuji, they seemed to enjoy the natural beauty of Hakone. Since one of the guests was interested in glasswork, I took them to the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, and they were surprised to find such artworks in an unexpected place. Finally, we headed to Gora Park, where the roses were just beginning to bloom, and they enjoyed the beauty of its French-style formal garden.

    What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Akihabara The guests were a group from North America, visiting Japan for the first time. They planned to visit Kyoto and Disneyland after sightseeing in Tokyo. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was very different from Shibuya. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Sensoji Temple, they were interested in explanations about the difference between temples and shrines, as well as the Kaminarimon Gate. In Akihabara, they showed interest in the many anime and game shops and the large electronics stores. Since the guests said they could return to their hotel on their own after shopping in Akihabara, we parted ways at Akihabara Station. As I accommodated the guests' wishes throughout, I believe they were satisfied.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tokyo Station, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. Since walking was difficult for one of the guests, I planned the tour carefully to use elevators and minimize walking as much as possible. We started from Shibuya Station on the first Ginza Line train, securing seats before heading to Asakusa, and during the ride I explained an overview of Japanese history and the difference between shrines and temples. In Asakusa, after explaining Senso-ji Temple and the surrounding buildings at the culture and tourism center, we strolled along Nakamise from Kaminarimon, stopping to buy souvenirs along the way. For lunch we visited a Japanese restaurant, where they enjoyed miso soup and karaage very much. At Tokyo Station, we took photos in front of the station building, and viewed the distant Imperial Palace from the observation deck of the Marunouchi Building. We had planned to go to Shinjuku Gyoen next, but as it turned out that they would visit there on a tour two days later, we changed the plan to Shibuya on short notice. We took photos in front of the Hachiko statue and the scramble crossing near the station, then I saw them off to their hotel in Shinjuku via the Yamanote Line, ending the tour.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Yanaka, Ueno, and Asakusa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I met the guests slightly earlier than the scheduled time. After a brief self-introduction in the hotel lobby, we set off. We purchased a Suica card at Yurakucho Station. From Nippori, we walked down Yuyake Dandan, through Yanaka Ginza, then through a residential neighborhood to Yanaka Cemetery. At the grave of Yoshinobu, I explained about the shogunate family and other topics, and then we went to Kaneiji Temple. We went inside Kaneiji and enjoyed the atmosphere. From there we walked to Ueno Park. After explaining the history of Ueno Park, I took the guests to the monument for General Grant, and we then enjoyed Ueno Toshogu Shrine and the five-story pagoda, which can now be approached quite closely. The guests took many photos. We saw Hanazono Inari Shrine, Kiyomizu Kannon-do, and the statue of Saigo, and then took the subway to Asakusa. We enjoyed the view from Azuma Bridge and, passing through Kaminarimon, went to a sushi restaurant for lunch. The guests seemed accustomed to sushi restaurants. After that, we walked from Nakamise-dori to Sensoji Temple, then from Asakusa Shrine through the west approach and the Rokku area to the Asakusa Culture and Tourism Center, intending to enjoy the view from the observation deck. However, one of the guests said their knee was gradually becoming painful and wished to return to the hotel, so we canceled the plan to continue to Shibuya and ended the tour a little under an hour and a half early. From the moment we met in the morning, the knee concern had been mentioned, and I had been asked to walk slowly; I had tried to walk slowly, but this was the outcome, which was unfortunate. The guests seemed very satisfied with the tour itself and showed no dissatisfaction at all about finishing earlier than planned. Since the hotel was in Ginza, we took the Ginza Line together from Asakusa and parted ways on the train. I also handed over a note stating that Ginza Station is "G09" and the exit is "C1."
