What's a 6-Hour Private Tokyo Tour With a Car Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from North America. The weather was clear at 26°C, making for a pleasant day of touring Tokyo.

[First stop] Asakusa After taking in a sweeping view of the entire Asakusa area from the 8th floor of the Culture Tourist Information Center, we strolled through Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Shopping Street, and Senso-ji Temple. The guests experienced Japanese culture, including the incense smoke of the large censer and praying at Senso-ji Temple. I explained the differences between Buddhism and Shinto.

[Second stop] Tokyo Station (lunch) Although Ramen Street was extremely crowded everywhere, the guests were very satisfied, saying that Japanese ramen was delicious.

[Third stop] East Gardens of the Imperial Palace The weather was lovely and the gardens were bustling with many visitors. We walked up to the former castle keep and back.

[Fourth stop] Meiji Shrine Under clear autumn skies, there were many tourists. At the main hall, the guests tried praying in the Shinto style. I then drove them back to their Hotel, where we parted ways.

A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in a forested area of central Tokyo, dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Completed in 1920, the shrine is surrounded by a vast man-made forest of around 100,000 trees donated from across Japan, creating a tranquil space amid the busy city. Visitors often pass through large wooden torii gates and may observe traditional Shinto customs, making it one of Tokyo's most visited and culturally significant sites.
