Title: What's a 6-Hour Private Tour of Tokyo by Car Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

Weather: Rain, 22℃ Guests: A group from North America

[First Stop] Imperial Palace Since it was before 9:00 and raining, there were almost no other tourists, so we had the place nearly to ourselves. From the Kasumigaseki government office district, we viewed the Sakuradamon Gate, Nijubashi Bridge, and the statue of Kusunoki Masashige.

[Second Stop] Asakusa After looking out over the whole of Asakusa from the 8th floor of the Culture and Tourism Center, we strolled through Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Shopping Street, and Senso-ji Temple. The guests experienced Japanese culture, including the smoke of the large incense burner and praying at Senso-ji Temple. I explained Buddhism and Shinto.

[Third Stop] Tsukiji Outer Market After a relaxed lunch at the food court, we went outside and strolled through the market, also enjoying street food such as scallops.

[Fourth Stop] Meiji Shrine Even in the rain, there were many tourists. At the main hall, the guests tried a Shinto-style prayer. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine, which is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken and is set within a vast forested precinct in the heart of Tokyo. The shrine was established in 1920 and is one of Japan's most visited Shinto shrines, known for its towering torii gates and peaceful walking paths. Visitors often take part in traditional customs such as purifying their hands at the water basin, offering a prayer at the main hall, and writing wishes on wooden ema plaques, making it an ideal place to experience Shinto practices firsthand.
