If you are interested in Japanese history and traditional culture, Kyoto and Nara are the two best places to visit. There are many temples. Osaka has many recreational places. Hyogo prefecture has one of the greatest castles in Japan called Himeji Castle and sake breweries. Hiroshima is famous for the Peace Memorial Park and a beautiful shrine.
