My name is Susumu Harada. My hobby is tennis. My family is four. My family members are my wife, older daughter, and son. We like sports. We sometimes enjoy playing tennis together. It is a great fun for me.
I’m interested in history, culture, and sports. I had been a teacher for 37 years. I had taught social studies and English in senior high school. I retired from a school and started a job as a guide in this April. So far, I have guided groups and families from the U.S. and Indonesia. Also, I have guided the passengers of Cruise ships from overseas. I’m a part-time lecturer in a university, too. I have a lecture about history and culture in Hokkaido.
I was born and had grown up in Hakodate city in Hokkaido. Hakodate city is famous for its beautiful night sight and delicious sea products. I’m proud of them. I studied Indonesian language and English in Osaka university. During my university days, I had a chance to stay in Jogjakarta in Indonesia. It was a great experience for me to learn foreign language and culture. I got interested in the culture in Jawa.
After graduated from the university, I became a teacher in Hokkaido. I had lived in some cities and towns in Hokkaido. Then I recognized food in Hokkaido is very delicious! Also, I had chance to stay in Edmonton in Canada and Amherst in Massachusetts, the United States. These gave me a chance to experience cultures in English speaking countries.
Now I live in Sapporo city in Hokkaido. Sapporo city is a new and beautiful city. I love to live in this city. Within one hour driving a car, I can go to the sea and mountain areas, which have a lot of hot springs.
I like to consider Japanese culture comparing with cultures in other countries. Also, I like to think about Hokkaido comparing with other parts of Japan.
I found that Hokkaido has unique history and culture, influenced by culture of North (Sakhalin, Siberia and Alaska) and South (mainland of Japan and so on).
Human being was said to have arrived at Hokkaido about 30.000 years ago. Jomon people (from about 16000 years ago to about 1000 years ago) and Ainu people (about 1000 years ago~) have attractive culture and the way of living trying to live in harmony with nature. They have beautiful arts, too. Hokkaido is still filled with beautiful nature. It is also fun to feel beautiful nature in Hokkaido.
I love Hokkaido very much. Hokkaido is a very charming and beautiful place and wonderful place to eat delicious food. Let’s enjoy Hokkaido together!

Saya belajar bahasa Indonesia di universitas. Selama masa kuliah, saya berkesempatan tinggal di Yogyakarta. Ini merupakan pengalaman yang luar biasa untuk mempelajari budaya dan bahasa asing. Saya sangat menyukai Indonesia.
Saat ini saya ingin memperkenalkan kepada orang-orang dari Indonesia tentang pesona Jepang dan Hokkaido.
