As a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter with over 30 years of experience in the travel industry, I am dedicated to providing you with a seamless, enriching, and deeply personal journey. My professional journey began in 1992 when I joined JTB, Japan’s leading travel agency. For 29 years, I dedicated myself to the tourism industry, specializing in sales and promotion.
I spent 10 years living and working as an expatriate in five different countries: Singapore, Indonesia (Jakarta), Turkey (Istanbul), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), and South Korea (Seoul). Having experienced life in such diverse cultures, I deeply understand the needs and curiosities of international travelers. I have also traveled extensively to major destinations like Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York, Europe, and Southeast Asia, which allows me to provide comparisons and insights that resonate with guests from all over the world.
[Explore My Hometown: Hanno City]
While I currently work in the Kazo city, northeast of Saitama prefecture, I must introduce you to my beautiful hometown, Hanno City, located in the southwest of Saitama Prefecture—diagonally opposite to Kazo. Just a 40-minute express train ride from Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Hanno is a peaceful sanctuary at the foot of the Chichibu Mountains. It is a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy BBQ parties and clear river waters along the Naguri River. One of my favorite spots is Mt. Tenran. Though it is a modest 195 meters high, it offers a refreshing trekking experience. Interestingly, a famous local Sake is named after this mountain. I would love to take a bottle of “Mt. Tenran” Sake with us, and we can toast with a small cup at the summit while enjoying the view. It is a quintessentially local experience that you won’t find in any guidebook.
[Regional Revitalization & Kazo City’s Hidden Gems]
Currently, I am involved in regional revitalization and tourism association in Kazo City, Saitama. Located about 60 minutes from central Tokyo, Kazo offers a genuine glimpse into Japanese rural life. One of its unique geographical features is the “Three-Prefecture Border,” a rare point where the borders of Saitama, Gunma, and Tochigi meet on flat land. Unlike most borders hidden on mountain peaks or underwater, you can easily walk across all three prefectures in seconds.
[My Specialty: The Art of Japanese Sake & Spirits]
My true passion lies in Japanese gourmet culture, particularly alcoholic beverages. Kazo is home to the prestigious “Kamaya” brewery, which boasts a rich history of over 270 years. Their flagship brand, “Rikishi” (meaning “Sumo Wrestler”), is a must-try for any sake enthusiast. Whether it is premium Sake from centuries-old breweries, or local craft beers and Shochu, I act as your personal “Sake Sommelier.” I take pride in arranging exclusive food and drink pairings to ensure you have a truly authentic and delicious experience in Japan.
