    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:00 Meet up @ JR Himeji Station
    • 10:30 @ Koko-en Garden
    • 11:45 @ Himeji Castle
    • 13:45 @ Egret Himeji Rooftop
    • 14:30 Disband @ JR Himeji Station

Title: What's a Private Himeji Castle and Koko-en Garden Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Everything went smoothly throughout the tour. One of the guests expressed an interest in "maneki-neko" (beckoning cat figurines), so on the way to Koko-en Garden I took them to a specialty maneki-neko shop in the local shopping street, where nearly all items are said to be handmade. They purchased many unusual maneki-neko and seemed very satisfied. One of the guests had a deep knowledge of plants and greatly enjoyed the visit to Koko-en Garden, teaching me the names of many plants. The cherry blossoms at Himeji Castle were in full bloom, and everyone was very pleased; they will probably begin to fall in about two or three days. On the way back to the station, we stopped by the rooftop of Egret Himeji, and the guests seemed satisfied with the panoramic view of the castle. Since they planned to have lunch before returning to Osaka, I introduced several local restaurants, and we parted ways there. One of the guests was very fond of Japan (their own garden at home is said to be in a Japanese garden style) and praised Japan in many ways, so much so that I felt quite humbled. That said, some of the other guests did not seem as interested in each spot. I presented some of the guests with handmade drawstring pouches made by my sister, which they were very delighted to receive.

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.
    Doomo Arigato Gozaimasu!

  • Kamakura Day Trip from Tokyo in 1 Day

Kamakura Day Trip from Tokyo in 1 Day

    Tour Itinerary

    • Meet at Hotel Premier Asakusa at 9:00. Depart Tokyo Station at 10:00 on the Yokosuka Line, arriving in Kamakura at 10:56. After shopping on Komachi Street. At 11:30, planned to visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, but the client wanted to have lunch first, so first enjoyed the cherry blossoms on Wakamiya Avenue, then had lunch from 12:05 to 12:50. After lunch, walked to Zeniarai Benten, arriving at 14:30. From Zeniarai Benten, walked to see the Great Buddha of Kamakura. After visiting the Great Buddha of Kamakura, visited Hase Kannon. Hase Station at 16:00 to Enoshima Station at 16:20. Rested at Katase-Enoshima East Coast.
    • Moved from Enoshima Station to Fujisawa. Saw off the client who boarded the JR Tokaido Line departing Fujisawa at 17:35.

Title: Can You Do a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Kamakura? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America. Some of the guests had traveled abroad several times before. As a gift, I gave each of the four guests some Kamakura history materials along with a piece of yokan and a piece of mooncake as snacks. When they asked about Kamakura's specialties, we bought sweet beans on Komachi Street. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom in the grounds of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and along Wakamiya Oji Avenue, which they enjoyed very much. From Kamakura Station, we visited Hachimangu Shrine, Zeniarai Benten, the Great Buddha, and Hasedera Temple, all on foot. Zeniarai Benten, which most tourists do not visit, was well received, and they washed yen, dollars, and credit cards while praying for wealth. At the Great Buddha, we took a break, ate the snacks I had given them, and entered the interior of the statue. At Hase Kannon, the children seemed tired and said they would wait at the entrance, but I persuaded them that there was an interesting cave inside, and everyone went in. We took the Enoden to Enoshima beach, and since it was the Pacific Ocean on the opposite side from where they live, one of the guests took photos and touched the water at the shoreline. They felt uneasy about their return train, so they asked me to see them off. I went with them into Fujisawa Station and had them board the front car, which is convenient for transferring to the Ginza Line at Shimbashi. Everyone was able to get a seat. I told them the arrival time at Shimbashi, and we waved goodbye and parted ways.

Can You Do a Private Half-Day Hakodate Tour Before a Cruise Departure? A Licensed Guide's Report The group booked a tour for four, but one of the guests was unable to join due to a cold, so three guests took part. They visited Japan from North America. Since their cruise ship was departing that afternoon, they requested to be back at the ship by 2:30. One of the guests had difficulty walking and could not walk very much, so the tour was fairly limited. At Goryokaku Park, we did not enter the Hakodate Magistrate's Office and instead simply took photos from the outside. The weather was very nice, and the view from the summit of Mount Hakodate was excellent. The guests were interested in the yachts moored in the harbor, so we went down to take a closer look. They took many photos there as well. After the meal, we visited Koryu-ji Temple, where they enjoyed the temple gate and the decorations of the buildings. We returned to the port terminal at 2:00 and the tour ended. The photo was taken at Goryokaku Park.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

What Is a Private Magome and Tsumago Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania. They were very interested in the history of Magome and Tsumago-juku and in the samurai, and engaged actively in conversation. They were touring from Kyoto to Tokyo, and in Magome and Tsumago-juku they mainly enjoyed the natural scenery. Along the way, we talked about the cultural differences between Oceania and Japan, and they were deeply impressed by Japanese culture. For the meal, we ordered takeout in advance at a restaurant and, as the guests requested, ate outside. Since the guests wished to return to Magome to do some shopping, we revisited Magome. At the end of the tour, they said they would like to come to Japan again, and they had a very enjoyable day.

Title: What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Kyoto Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, and Kinkaku-ji The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were all individually distinctive yet clearly a close-knit group. On the approach to Kiyomizu-dera, one of the guests wanted to have a bent ring repaired, so I asked at a ring shop we happened to find, and they kindly fixed it. In Gion, perhaps because it was the season of the Miyako Odori, we encountered a maiko even in the morning, which the guests very much enjoyed. For the trip from Kiyomizu-dera to Kinkaku-ji, I thought the group must be tired, so I suggested taking a taxi from Kiyomizuzaka out to Higashioji Street. After finishing the visit to Kinkaku-ji, I guided them to their seats at a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, and the tour concluded. Although it was a 6-hour tour, we managed to cover Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, and Kinkaku-ji within the time. I believe the guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Title: Can You Visit Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari, and Kiyomizu-dera in One Day? A Licensed Guide's Private Kyoto Tour Report The guests were visiting Kyoto on a private tour and wanted above all to see Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari Shrine, and Kiyomizu-dera. The tour was originally scheduled to depart from the Hotel at 7:30, but just before departure we decided to meet at Karasuma Oike Station to reduce travel time, and the tour started at 08:15 to align with Kinkaku-ji's opening hours. I had informed the guests in advance that, due to time constraints, my guidance for Kiyomizu-dera would only extend to the nearest point. Although we moved along smoothly, we ultimately ran out of time at Kiyomizugojo Station. I let the guests know the location of Kiyomizu-dera and recommended that they have lunch somewhere before entering the approach to the temple, and then we ended the tour.

    • 15:10 (End of Tour) back at JR Nara Station
    • (We had a truly wonderful time, and since we were also tired from the consecutive days of touring, we decided to finish early)

Title: What's a Private Three-Generation Family Tour of Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a three-generation family visiting from North America. To avoid the crowds, we took a bus from the west exit of JR Nara Station to Ukigumo Enchi. As soon as they bought deer crackers, we left the sales stand and walked to a quieter area with fewer deer and fewer people, where we relaxed, enjoyed the cherry blossoms, and played with the deer in a leisurely, lordly mood. When I taught them, "Talk to the deer as if you were speaking to a baby, and the deer will relax," one of the youngest guests became an expert at handling the deer. After that, we did a tour focused on history, Buddhism, and Shinto. Since the guests had thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were also a little tired from touring on consecutive days, we decided to wrap up a bit early.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

What Is a Private Cherry Blossom Tour in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, and all of them were visiting Japan for the first time. The day before the tour, a request came in to see plenty of cherry blossoms, so I quickly added Hirano Shrine to the itinerary. The schedule became a little tight, but we were able to complete nearly everything as planned. Although some varieties of cherry blossoms were already beginning to fall, we were able to see many beautiful blossoms with a different atmosphere at each of the three locations. Combined with the fine and mild weather, I believe all of the guests were very satisfied.

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Shinjuku The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They had already stayed in Kyoto and Osaka, and on the morning of this day they arrived in Tokyo from Osaka by Shinkansen. They said they were able to see a beautiful view of Mount Fuji from the train window. At Meiji Shrine, they remarked how wonderful it was that such a place exists in the middle of a big city. On Takeshita Street, they enjoyed seeing the many capsule toy shops and a mini pig café. On Cat Street, they drank craft cola and were delighted by how beautiful it was. They experienced the Shibuya Crossing, and at the Metropolitan Government Building there was a 30-minute wait, but they said it would be good practice for their DisneySea visit the next day, so they waited 30 minutes and enjoyed the view from the observation deck. We then went to Kabukicho in Shinjuku, and they were especially amazed by the atmosphere of Golden Gai. After that, we went to a yakitori restaurant, and they said the yakitori was delicious as well. I believe they enjoyed the tour.
