    What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Owakudani, Lake Ashi, and Traditional Crafts The guests were a calm group visiting from Oceania. At Owakudani, they were interested in the famous black eggs but did not eat them, as they were still full from breakfast. The volcanic landscape of Owakudani and the green scenery viewed from the pirate ship left a strong impression on them. Mount Fuji was visible for a brief moment, though they mentioned it looked almost the same as what they had seen at Lake Kawaguchi the day before. They were not familiar with the Yosegi marquetry woodwork of Maruyama Bussan, so they took great interest in the presentation and purchased a puzzle box as a souvenir. For lunch, the guests shared their meal together and enjoyed listening to my explanation about kanji characters. At the old checkpoint and the cedar avenue, they were able to experience the atmosphere of Japan's Edo period, and I hope it will be a helpful part of the rest of their journey in Japan.

    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like at the End of a Japan Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had been touring various parts of Japan on a two-week cruise, and Tokyo was their final destination. Since they had already seen many temples and shrines in Kyoto, we decided to skip the originally planned Sensoji Temple and Meiji Shrine. When I took them to the Tsukiji Outer Market, they said they wanted to eat sushi, so we waited about 20 minutes before getting a table. For some reason, they did not order nigiri sushi and instead enjoyed hand-rolled sushi throughout. One of the guests was fond of watches, so we looked into Wako in Ginza and a specialty Rolex shop. In Shibuya as well, they carefully examined watches at a brand-name resale store. As this was the final day after walking around various places day after day, they seemed quite tired from all the walking, so what was planned as a one-hour extension ended up being just a 30-minute extension.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour in Tokyo for guests visiting from Europe. It was their second day in Japan, and after this they planned to continue to Hakone, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, and Kyoto. Since it had not been possible to confirm the itinerary in advance, the plan was decided only on the day itself; when we met in the morning, the guests chose one of the two plans I had prepared, and we proceeded with that. The guests listened carefully to each of my explanations. The heat and humidity were severe and the guests appeared to be struggling, so I guided them at a faster pace than usual. Because they did not eat anything at Tsukiji and did not stop at the tea house in Nakajima, it looked like we would have time to spare, but the guests said they preferred it that way and wanted to finish early and return to the hotel. So I chose shaded routes as much as possible and moved quickly through the remainder, finishing about two hours ahead of schedule. Apart from lunch, the subway, and the inside of Tokyo Tower, the heat was dangerous, so I felt this was unavoidable. Even so, for lunch they had the sushi they had requested, and they told me they enjoyed the tour, so I think it turned out well.

    What's a Private Tokyo Tuna Auction and Tsukiji Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour to the tuna auction for guests visiting Japan from Europe. The guests loved seafood and enjoyed the experience very much. As a souvenir for a friend who loves fishing and seafood dishes, they purchased a Japanese kitchen knife and had a name engraved on it. Since they wanted the engraving in Japanese, I came up with kanji characters to phonetically represent the name, and had those carved into the knife. They were delighted to film a video of the engraving being done. At Tsukiji, the guests enjoyed sampling tuna sushi.

    What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Hamarikyu, the Imperial Palace, and Shibuya The guests were a group of friends visiting Japan for the first time from North America. They had arrived at Haneda Airport on a direct flight two days earlier and taken a taxi to their hotel. Their trip covered several days in Tokyo, followed by Kyoto and Osaka, before returning to Tokyo and heading home. The guests said they all love traveling and have enjoyed many overseas trips together. They mentioned they were planning a day trip to Hakone and Mount Fuji the following day. They also said, "We love Japanese food and want to try lots of things and enjoy ourselves." The tour took place under cloudy but rather hot and humid weather. First, we visited Tsukiji Market. I explained "the history of the fish market dating back to the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market." The guests asked, "Why are there so many people here?" and "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" We strolled slowly, purchasing and sampling matcha ice cream, strawberry mochi, fried sweet potato, and more. From there, we walked to Hamarikyu Gardens, as the guests had expressed a wish to see a beautiful Japanese garden. I explained "the history of Hamarikyu Gardens" and "duck hunting," and we strolled leisurely through the grounds. The guests said, "The Japanese garden is wonderful," and "The way it is surrounded by high-rise buildings resembles Central Park in New York." We then moved on to the Imperial Palace and walked through the East Gardens. One question was, "When is the best time to see the cherry blossoms?" I explained "the history from the Edo period to the Meiji era," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "why the capital moved from Kyoto to Tokyo." The guests also asked, "Are there no more samurai?" and "Does the current Emperor of Japan hold any political power?" Since the guests said they wanted to have sushi for lunch, we went to a sushi restaurant in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya. Everyone was very pleased. Next, we went to Shibuya. First, we crossed the Scramble Crossing on foot, then took photos looking down from the entrance to a train platform. The guests asked, "Why do so many people gather here?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue and strolled through Center Gai. The guests made comments and asked questions such as, "It's amazing that there's no litter on the streets — completely different from what we're used to," "Doesn't anyone throw trash on the streets?" "It was our first time riding the subway, and it was very comfortable and convenient," "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" and "The staff at our hotel were all from another country — how many immigrants live in Japan?" Since the guests said they were unsure how to get back to their hotel, I saw them off at Higashi-Shinjuku Station, and we parted ways.

    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.

A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, Shibamata, Ueno, and Meiji Shrine The weather held with no rain, and the tour proceeded smoothly. At Tsukiji, the guests enjoyed seeing the fresh seafood and mentioned that it reminded them nostalgically of octopus dishes from their home region. In Asakusa, we followed a full course and I explained the history of Sensoji Temple. I received many questions about religion and history. At Shibamata Taishakuten, the guests admired the magnificent temple carvings and Japanese garden, and took many photographs. They had lunch at a restaurant along the Shibamata approach road. They enjoyed the kusa-dango (mugwort rice dumplings), saying they were delicious. At Ueno Toshogu Shrine, the guests were amazed by the vividly colored carvings. I guided them through the ruins of Edo Castle at the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace and talked extensively about the Tokugawa family. At Meiji Shrine, I received many questions about Shinto shrines. The tour concluded after I escorted the guests back to their hotel.

    What Can You See on a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. Although they had not decided on their destinations until the day of the tour, they chose to visit the Higashi Chaya District, Kenrokuen Garden, and Kanazawa Castle Park on the spot. Since the guests decided to visit the Nagamachi samurai district on their own after the tour, we ended the tour at Oyama Shrine, after which I told them the location of the samurai residences and the bus stop for returning to Kanazawa Station, and then concluded the tour. During the tour, the guests were very cheerful and enjoyable, even taking photos together with a local child and their mother.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Shibuya, and the Imperial Palace The guests were a friendly group visiting from Oceania. At Tsukiji Market, they did not eat anything in particular, but as they looked at fresh wasabi, fresh fish, seafood barbecue, and desserts, they said, "We've never seen anything like this." After experiencing the walk across Shibuya Crossing, when I guided them to the Hachiko statue, they said, "We know this dog, from the movie." At the plaza in front of the Imperial Palace, I explained about the Emperor, the relationship between the Imperial family and the people, and the shoguns. At Nezu Shrine, I introduced myths such as that of Susanoo no Mikoto written in the Kojiki, and they said, "What a nice story, so interesting!" They said they wanted to visit a garden in the afternoon, so I wrote down directions to Koishikawa Korakuen for them, and the tour concluded.

    My name is Shuji, meaning “Excellent Manager” in English. I was born in Hiroshima 1952. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
    After graduating Kyoto Univ. I joined Mitsubishi-UFJ Bank, Osaka Branch where I met my wife who was a master of Englsih, so I started studying English.
    The bank allowed me to go to Columbia Graduate business school in New York and got MBA Degree there. I worked in London and Manchester Branch.
    During staying in U.K., I was introduced by BBC and Financial Times News Paper about my achievement there. I was selected as a personal assistant and interpreter for the President of the Bank.
    I made many business trips with him to overseas countries. I experienced as an interpreter for meeting late Henry Kissinger and the President of Citi. Corp.
    I changed the job to ORIX corporation, there I was promoted to a Board Member. When the company had acquired Dutch company, I was a member as an accountant to check the Dutch company’s statements of accounts.
    My hobbies are cooking, singing a song, playing tennis & golf, enjoy seeing arts especially opera & musical, travel. I am also busy with taking care of grandchildren. I passed Government Licensed Guide Exam. in 2016. After I retired in 2017, I started guide job as a part timer. So far, I accomplished guide job more than 500 times.
    My area coverage is from Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji to Kyoto, Nara, Oaka, Hiroshima. I am also able to guide Tea Ceremony, Maiko/Geisha, Sushi Making, Calligraphy, Sumo, Samurai, etc. I can speak excellent English. My knowledge is very wide and deep about not only sightseeing places but Japanese History, Culture, Religion, Daily Life. I know many foreign countries and people.     What Can You See on an 8-Hour Private Nagoya Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report At the guests' request, this tour was booked as an 8-hour tour, extended by two hours from the standard length. The guests, visiting from North America, had a strong interest in Japanese culture and greatly enjoyed the itinerary, which included Nagoya Castle, Tokugawaen Garden and the Tokugawa Art Museum, a kaiseki-style Japanese lunch at a restaurant within the garden, Mirai Tower, and Atsuta Shrine. In particular, at the "Hatsune no Chodo Exhibition" held at the Tokugawa Art Museum, the guests viewed with great interest the display of more than 70 National Treasures related to the "Hatsune no Chodo" collection held by the museum. When I explained that this special exhibition is an event held only once every ten years, they observed it with even greater interest. By adding Atsuta Shrine as an extra site to the usual six-hour one-day guided tour itinerary, I was able to ensure the guests were satisfied. Regarding the business report for the guided tour I conducted in May prior to this one, the visit times for each site had not been recorded, so I received instructions to return and resubmit the business report after making corrections. Accordingly, for this case as well, I will make the same additions and corrections and resubmit the business report.

    What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Focused on Zen and Traditional Crafts Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania, visiting Japan and Kyoto for the first time. When I asked about their itinerary, they were traveling through Tokyo, Nagoya, Hida-Takayama, Kanazawa, and then from Kyoto to Nara. Their request was to experience the traditional beauty of old Kyoto, so they wanted to be taken anywhere good that conveyed a sense of history — whether streetscapes, temples, or shrines. They also wanted to buy handcrafted textiles. Today I spent a good deal of time talking about Zen Buddhism, wabi-cha tea culture, and the aesthetics of wabi-sabi. They also enjoyed the bonsai at Hoshun-in. At Honen-in, I received quite a refined question such as "What is the difference between Pure Land Buddhism and Zen Buddhism?", which gave me a wonderful opportunity to explain at length. One of the guests was mainly focused on shopping, wandering into various shops and buying Kyoto-style handkerchiefs, tenugui cloths, tablecloths, T-shirts, and small items made of cotton and silk. Whenever my talks became a little long, this guest would quickly wander off somewhere, so I wondered whether they simply didn't enjoy listening. In fact, standing still for even five minutes caused dizziness, so they preferred to keep moving. Once I understood this, I tried various things: keeping my explanations concise, playfully announcing in advance "this story takes 3 minutes and 18 seconds," and giving talks while sitting down inside temples. When a guest doesn't seem to listen much, it's easy to end up cutting explanations short, but I realized that everyone has circumstances they don't necessarily mention. I was reminded once again of how important communication with guests truly is.
