Can You Do a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo's Highlights? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. This is a report from a private one-day tour of Tokyo's highlights for guests visiting from Europe. In the prior communication, the guests had requested visiting the highlights within central Tokyo. While waiting at the meeting point listed in the tour reservation, a hotel, at around 9:00 the guests contacted me to say they had overslept and would be about 20 minutes late. There was also a discrepancy between the guests and me regarding the hotel lobby floor. When they sent me a Google Map and the hotel's website via a messaging app, it became clear that the correct accommodation was a different hotel from the one listed as the meeting point in the reservation. When I told the guests that the meeting point in the tour reservation was the hotel originally listed, they said they may have confused the hotel name and address. For the time being, I asked them to head to the first destination, Sensoji Temple, and we successfully met in front of Kaminarimon at 10:00. After reconfirming the itinerary, we started the tour again. I guided them briskly through the extreme heat, and thanks to how active the guests were, I was able to cover everything even faster than planned. Since they said they would like to return to the hotel afterward and try going to a fireworks festival, I explained the route back to the hotel using a Google Map and other tools, and we parted with smiles on the station platform. The messaging app exchanges regarding the tour meeting point were reported to the [Japan Guide Agency](https://www.j-g-a.org/) representative after the tour ended, and the transportation expenses for this tour have already been approved.

Title: What Is a Private Hakone Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Lake Ashi, Owakudani, and Hakone Shrine The guests were a very friendly group from Europe who found the summer heat in Tokyo difficult, and felt Hakone was somewhat more comfortable in that respect. One of the guests spent almost the entire day enjoying the sunshine. Despite the heat, everyone had a good appetite, and at a donburi restaurant the group ordered six bowls for the party and finished them all. Even under clear skies, only Mount Fuji remained hidden behind clouds as usual, but the guests were not disappointed and enjoyed the black eggs. On the pirate ship, they took in the scenery from the deck. At Hakone Shrine, I talked about Shinto and Buddhism, and they listened with great interest. The mechanical puzzle boxes at the local trading store were also very popular, and they made some purchases. Onshi Park and the cedar avenue made for an ideal hiking course. As Kyoto would be hot, the guests said they wanted to spend two of their days in Shimoda. They asked me to recommend a place to stay, so I introduced a hotel in Shimoda, and they made a reservation. For the next day, I suggested visiting the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the Pola Museum, including how to get there, and recommended they consult the hotel staff for further details.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Gardens Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest joined this tour using a free day during an academic conference. It was extremely hot, and I was worried about whether the tour could be carried out. Hamarikyu was nearly empty. The guest, who lives in North America, mentioned being generally accustomed to such hot climates, and only needed a single break at lunchtime, proving to be quite tough. The shade of the trees in the garden was cool and the greenery was beautiful, so I believe the walk was enjoyable. At Korakuen, the guest bought a gift for themselves, so I felt this walk was also to their liking. Still, it was a very hot day.

I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. • 15:45 Disband @ Tokyo International Cruise Terminal

Can You Do a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo After Arriving by Cruise Ship? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America on their first trip to Japan. They had departed on a cruise ship from Incheon and traveled around Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Kobe (Osaka and Kyoto), and Shimizu, arriving in Tokyo on the morning of the tour. Although the itinerary had been agreed upon in advance, due to the high temperatures I changed one of the destinations from the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace to the Tokyo National Museum. At the Tsukiji fish market, the guests thoroughly enjoyed boiled crab and medium fatty tuna sashimi (photo). While traveling, the conversation turned to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and when I mentioned the Great Tokyo Air Raid, they were surprised, saying it was the first time they had heard of it. In Asakusa, one of the guests was already feeling worn out, so we walked quickly to Sensoji Temple and used covered areas along the West Approach and the Shin-Nakamise shopping street. On Shin-Nakamise, they were amazed at how affordable the prices were and purchased a pair of sneakers. Since one of the guests had previously studied Japanese history, I received many questions at the Tokyo National Museum, which confirmed that the change to the Tokyo National Museum was the right decision. At Meiji Shrine, we entered from the North Approach to keep the walking distance as short as possible. Of course, we took photos at the famous camphor trees. Having a vehicle for the day was truly helpful.

Hello! My name is Hideki Maruyama. I was born in Osaka and raised in the Greater Tokyo area. I obtained my National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Certificate in February 2016.
I spent 23 years working at a leading Japanese automotive company, including 7 years posted overseas. I then worked for a German premium automotive manufacturer for 13 years, followed by 6 years as an advisor to a British energy company. Through these roles at global corporations, I developed and refined key skills such as:
    1. Cross-cultural communication
    2. A deep understanding of business elites and affluent customers
    3. The ability to deliver impactful and impressive presentations in English
In addition to my regular duties, I often served as an interpreter for top executives during meetings with foreign government officials. I also had opportunities to introduce aspects of Japan—such as our national character and consumer preferences—to leadership teams in both the German and British companies.
As a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding guests from a wide range of countries especially after the pandemic, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Turkey, Jordan, Kenya and Israel.
When guiding, I always keep in mind to go beyond what guests can find on social media or ChatGPT. I believe my professional background allows me to offer unique insights, and I am encouraged when guests mention this in their reviews

What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour by Subway Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Everyone was very cheerful, and the tour proceeded in an enjoyable atmosphere from start to finish. We first purchased a one-day pass at Akasaka-mitsuke Station, which was nearest to the Hotel, and traveled by subway throughout. This [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) private tour of Tokyo was conducted entirely using the subway network. The guests were full of curiosity, and because I answered their many questions while also taking breaks as needed, Asakusa took more time than expected. The East Gardens were closed that day, but since the guests seemed interested, I showed them the exterior of the Tatsumi Yagura and Fujimi Yagura turrets, and also took them to Tokyo Station. The later spots were all close to one another, which made it easy to adjust the schedule. Since the guests wished to visit a micro-pig cafe on Takeshita Street, and we had just passed the planned end time, we parted ways at Takeshita Street.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Kiyosumi Garden, and Shibuya Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. Since they had contacted me the day before saying they wanted to eat sushi, I made a reservation at a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant in Asakusa, our first destination. After introducing Kaminarimon Gate and the Nakamise shopping street, we headed to the restaurant, where they thoroughly enjoyed the sushi. Afterwards, because it was extremely hot and humid, we strolled through Kiyosumi Garden, which offered relatively good shade. They were impressed by how the Japanese garden, with its beautifully pruned pine trees and stones arranged over the pond, represents a completely different concept from Western gardens. We then walked around Omotesando before heading to Shibuya, where they enjoyed seeing the Hachiko statue and the Shibuya Crossing. Finally, since there were younger members in the group, they experienced Mario and the Pokemon World at a virtual space attraction in Shibuya.

I had prepared parasols, but only brought enough for two people, and I reflected that I should have brought more. Meiji Shrine was pleasantly cool. We entered the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace through the Otemon Gate, but the paths were extremely hot and some of the guests seemed to be struggling, so we turned back without going to the former main keep. In Akihabara, we walked from Suehirocho to Kanda, which was also very hot. After Harajuku, we visited the building with the Godzilla Head in Shinjuku, and the tour ended after guiding them to the east exit of Shinjuku Station. A tip was received.

Then, I changed my career to nursing and entered a university to obtain a PHN and RN license. I took the Licensed Guide for preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and volunteered in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2021.

What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shibuya, Harajuku, and Ginza The guests were visitors to Japan from Africa. One of them was very attentive to world affairs, and at the Hachiko statue in Shibuya, they struck up a conversation with a foreign visitor holding a placard calling for the liberation of Palestine. When asked how Japanese people feel about the situation in Gaza, I explained that, regardless of political positions, many Japanese people are deeply saddened by the reality that so many people have lost their lives and are suffering from hunger. Since the guests planned to enjoy a sushi dinner with friends in Ginza in the evening, we kept lunch light. In Harajuku, they were drawn to a uniquely designed building, and at an eat-in cafe inside it they enjoyed lemonade and a mentaiko potato crepe. At Pepper Parlor in Shibuya, they were very excited by the robot, Pepper. I also introduced them to the single-act seating at the Kabukiza Theater near their accommodation. Although they did not purchase tickets on the spot, they showed strong interest, so I also told them about the free Kabukiza Gallery.

What's a Private Kamakura Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe who were visiting Japan for the first time. They planned to travel to Osaka after sightseeing in Kamakura and to return home from Kansai International Airport. At Hokoku-ji Temple, they enjoyed the beautiful bamboo grove and matcha green tea. At Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, they listened with great interest to my explanations about the differences between shrines and temples and about the Kamakura Shogunate, and they purchased an omamori charm as a souvenir. At Hasedera Temple, they enjoyed the large Kannon statue and the view of Sagami Bay from the observation deck. At Kotoku-in, they appeared deeply impressed by the magnificent Great Buddha statue. I responded to all of the guests' requests, so I believe they were satisfied with the tour.
