Title: What Is a Private Autumn Foliage Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Kyoto during the autumn foliage season. The weather was fine, and we were able to enjoy beautiful autumn colors everywhere we went. At Tofukuji Temple the group was deeply moved, as the foliage was especially vivid red, making it a wonderful day. At Eikando Temple we were short on time, so we only walked around the garden, but the group took photos there. At Kiyomizu-dera Temple the group tried lifting Benkei's iron staff. Everyone was cheerful and also enjoyed shopping in the area around Kiyomizu-dera. One member of the group, who had come from a place without autumn foliage, seemed to enjoy watching the others have a good time. Everyone was calm and gracious, and even though we were short on time at Eikando, the group kindly reassured me that it was fine. I was glad we were able to return safely within the scheduled time.

Title: What Is a Private Autumn Foliage Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was for a group visiting from North America. During our prior communication, we arranged a two-hour extension. Unlike the rain of the previous day, the weather gradually improved, blue skies appeared, and the autumn foliage stood out vividly in bright colors. The guests were especially moved by the autumn foliage at Tofuku-ji and Ryoan-ji temples. They also seemed to enjoy the scenery of the bamboo grove. However, one of the guests was not feeling well and needed extended restroom breaks, which made the schedule tight, but after discussing it we shortened part of the itinerary and were able to complete the tour without any timing problems.

Title: What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour with a Licensed Guide Look Like? A Guide's Report Body: The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. The tour was originally planned for a larger group, but some members were unable to join due to illness, so it became a tour for the remaining guests. After the tour began, I contacted the restaurant to update the reservation for the new number of people. I took the guests to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Shrine, Sanjusangendo, and Fushimi Inari Taisha. It was a perfect day for sightseeing, and the autumn foliage was still at its best (though some leaves had already begun to fall). Some of the guests particularly enjoyed Kiyomizu-dera, while others were fond of Sanjusangendo. One of the guests also commented that Fushimi Inari would be a wonderful place if it were not so crowded. The guests mentioned that they had used AI to help choose the places they wanted to visit.

Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace The guests were visitors from North America. We were blessed with good weather and it was a wonderful trip. We were also fortunate to be able to enter up to the front of the Shishinden at the Kyoto Imperial Palace and to view a special exhibition and gagaku (traditional court music). However, when I asked what their favorite was, both answered Fushimi Inari Taisha, which was a surprise to me. First, we visited Fushimi Inari Taisha. At the temizuya (purification fountain), I explained how to cleanse the hands and mouth before worshipping. Then I guided them to the front of the main hall and taught them the etiquette of two bows, two claps, making a wish, and one final bow. After passing through the Senbon Torii (thousand torii gates), you arrive at the "Okunoin." To the far right of it is a stone called the "Omokaru-ishi." First, you make a wish in front of the lantern. Then you lift the round stone placed on top of the lantern. They were fascinated by the idea that if the stone feels lighter than you expected, your wish will come true, and they enthusiastically gave it a try. The second stop was Kinkaku-ji. They were especially moved by the golden shimmer of Kinkaku-ji. The last stop was the Kyoto Imperial Palace. There, I shared the story that successive emperors lived there for about 540 years, from 1331 until Emperor Meiji moved to Tokyo in 1869, and the guests seemed very interested in the "Okurumayose," the "Shodaibu-no-ma," the interior of the "Shishinden," the "Seiryoden," as well as the special exhibition and the gagaku performance.

I have been an English teacher since 1979. In 2024, I obtained the national qualification of Certified Guide Interpreter.
Currently, after retiring, I teach English as a part-time lecturer at a Hyogo Prefectural High School.
My hobbies are tennis, table tennis, traveling, studying English, and Japanese history.
I play tennis and table tennis twice a week. I love traveling because I can see beautiful scenery and learn about Japanese history.
I chose Kyoto and Nara prefectures as my guiding locations. Both were once the capitals of Japan.
Kyoto was the residence of emperors from 794 to 1868 and was a stage for Japanese history.
It has beautiful scenery, Japanese history, magnificent buildings and gardens, and delicious food.
I would like to share the charms of Japan with foreign tourists as much as possible.
I live in Amagasaki City, which is adjacent to Osaka. Kyoto is a little far from my home,
but I would like to leave home early in the morning and enjoy traveling with my guests.
    Thank you for your consideration.

No fixed itinerary had been set for the day, so I guided while checking their requests along the way, and I was relieved to see that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Since the guests wanted to take many photos and experience the atmosphere of each place firsthand, I kept verbal explanations to a minimum. However, because posters for a morning drama series were displayed here and there in Matsue, I shared some information about the drama, and the guests responded by telling me that a drama featuring Japanese and Western protagonists had once been very popular in their home region, which made for a lively conversation. As their lunch the previous day had not met their expectations, they requested something local, so I guided them to an izakaya restaurant inside Matsue Station that was open during lunch hours, and everyone enjoyed the meal. At the end, I let them know where to catch a taxi and we said our goodbyes.

Hi, my name is Chie, and I’m a local guide in the eastern region of Shimane Prefecture.
Located on the Sea of Japan on the western side of Japan’s main island, Honshu, Shimane is a lesser-known prefecture, yet it is a special place where many stories that represent the very roots of Japan still remain vividly.
As your guide, I would love to show you the serene beauty of rural landscapes that capture Japan’s traditional countryside, and introduce you to the unique history and culture found nowhere else, including ancient myths that have long inspired Japanese values and traditions, and the tatara iron-making heritage, which not only served as a spiritual foundation of Japanese craftsmanship but also shaped distinctive landscapes and the lives of local communities that can still be seen today.
I would be delighted to help you experience its traditional culture and fully feel the essence of Japan during your visit.

Title: Can You Do a Private Kyoto Tour with Autumn Foliage? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Africa who traveled to Japan via Doha and Hong Kong. Because the flight had been long, one of the guests experienced ear discomfort caused by changes in air pressure, so I looked up information online and introduced places such as a drugstore where a pharmacist could be consulted, along with tips for relieving the blocked feeling. At Ginkaku-ji, the beautiful garden combined with the autumn foliage at its peak left the guests deeply impressed. They said it was a sight they could never see back home. They mentioned that while the bears frequently appearing in Japan recently do not exist in their home region, lions live in the bush there and can be dangerous if encountered.

Title: What Is a Private Autumn Foliage Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania. The autumn foliage was at its very peak, and beautiful colors could be seen everywhere we went. For souvenirs, they only bought furikake from a shop after trying the sample, and did not enter any other stores. The initial email address and phone number provided belonged to a travel agency, so I exchanged information directly with the guests by email. After Nijo Castle, I guided them to a cafe across the street and we concluded the tour there.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!

Title: What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like in Late Autumn? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The tour was originally scheduled to start at 10:00, but due to a train cancellation, it was rescheduled to start at 11:00 the following day. The weather was fine. Our first destination was the Akechidaira Observatory. Although the peak of the autumn foliage had passed, starting at a late hour in the winter season and traveling by bus made time management for the Kegon Falls area plus the ropeway quite challenging. There were moments when I had to gently encourage the guests to keep moving, and I did my best to keep my own sense of urgency from showing so that they could still enjoy themselves. In the end, I was able to complete the itinerary in line with their wishes.

The guests really enjoyed shopping, so we stopped at quite a few shops in both Arashiyama and Kiyomizu. Since they wanted to spend plenty of time shopping, we adjusted the plan to spend the remaining time exploring the Kiyomizu area, which has an abundance of shops. They bought so many items that there almost wasn't enough time, and they enjoyed it thoroughly. At the end, they wished to have dinner around the Gion area, so I guided them through Gion and introduced a restaurant where they could enjoy a variety of Japanese dishes before concluding the tour.
