A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, an Antique Market, and Cherry Blossoms The guest was visiting Japan for the first time from North America (a companion who had originally planned to join could not participate on the day due to fatigue and chose to rest at the hotel instead, so I had already notified that only one person would attend the Shirokane pottery class). Just before we met, an email came in requesting a stop at an antique market, and I found information that the Edo Antique Market was being held at the Tokyo International Forum. We stopped there before visiting the Imperial Palace, where the guest happily purchased a treasured, high-quality piece of jewelry and was very pleased. After that, the guest seemed truly moved by the fine weather and the cherry blossoms in full bloom, and we were able to spend an enjoyable day together.

A Licensed Guide's Report Since the cherry blossoms in Tokyo were in full bloom today, I fine-tuned the itinerary to prioritize the Chidorigafuchi Greenway and to guide the guests only as far as the gate of the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace before parting ways. We first traveled by bus to Meiji Shrine, where we were fortunate to come across a wedding ceremony in progress. At the Shibuya Crossing, I explained that the way pedestrians avoid colliding with one another is not merely a modern phenomenon but a Japanese tradition dating back to the Edo period, reflecting the wisdom of people who have long lived in tightly packed spaces. (I would be curious to know how other guides analyze this.) In Asakusa, I also touched on the structural similarities between the five-story pagoda and the Tokyo Skytree. The Chidorigafuchi Greenway was crowded, but the guests thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw them off at the Kitahazumon Gate, and we parted ways there.

    Title: What's a Private Family-Friendly Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was a very warm and close-knit group. Since some of the guests enjoyed anime and games, and one was especially fond of Pokémon, we chose the Pokémon Center Shibuya. At Meiji Shrine and Sensoji Temple, I explained the differences between Shinto and Buddhism as well as how to worship at each, and the guests purchased ema plaques and omikuji fortunes, enjoying the cross-cultural experience. On Takeshita Street, they bought 10-yen coin-shaped cakes and T-shirts printed with ukiyo-e prints by Toshusai Sharaku. At the Pokémon Center, one of the guests carefully picked out souvenirs while another looked on warmly. One of the guests enjoyed photography and took care of the family photos, also capturing snapshots of interesting scenes around the city. In Asakusa, after visiting Sensoji Temple, the guests admired the cherry blossoms at Sumida Park and took family photos with the Skytree in the background, thoroughly enjoying spring in Japan. Afterward, I introduced them to a nearby sushi restaurant, where the tour concluded. (They then kindly invited me to join them for lunch, and I took my leave afterward.)

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Full-Day Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Inokashira Park, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shinjuku The tour began with a pickup at the hotel. I showed the guests where to catch the Shinkansen on the JR line, and since the requested course left us with plenty of time, we made an unusual choice to visit Inokashira Park. I explained the geography of the Musashino Plateau, the origins of the Tamagawa Aqueduct, the history behind the name Inokashira and the Kanda River, and why the area is ranked among the top five most livable neighborhoods. I explained that the Benzaiten shrine was depicted in ukiyo-e woodblock prints during the Edo period, and that people had settled in this area since the Jomon period. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, which the guests greatly enjoyed. After that, we took the Inokashira Line to Shibuya, took photos at the Hachiko statue, crossed the famous scramble crossing twice, and headed to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine we prayed and drew omikuji fortunes, then had a light lunch on the terrace. Afterward, we saw Takeshita Street, Togo Shrine, and other sights, passed through Omotesando, and took the Fukutoshin Line to Shinjuku-sanchome. I had considered Shinjuku Gyoen as well, but the guests felt they had seen enough parks, so we walked through and I explained Golden Gai and Kabukicho before parting ways at Shinjuku Station. One of the guests was collecting stamps, and I assisted with that as well. Overall, the guests were very appreciative.     title: What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like for Older Guests? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America and had traveled to Japan about 40 years earlier. The day before, they had toured Kyoto and arrived at their accommodation late at night. Since their lodging was not a hotel but a private rental, I searched for it using the address, but had a hard time finding it. It turned out to be a good decision to arrive a little early. One of the guests had difficulty walking, so we covered the entire itinerary while taking several breaks along the way. At Tokyo Tower, some of the guests chose not to go up and waited at the bottom, and I stayed at the bottom together with the guest who had trouble walking. The guests were interested in history and showed great interest in stories about Edo culture and religion.

    Hello, my name is Mizuho Yoshikawa. Please call me Mizu and my name means rice and water in Japanese.
    I’ve been a tour guide more than 200 times since the spring of 2023 in Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama and Kochi. My tour is always original and new, depending on the guest’s preferences, encounters, seasons and weather.
    In Kyoto, one of my tours is to climb Mt. Kurama. It is about 1 hour from the city of Kyoto by train, it is a very quiet and beautiful mountain.
    In Osaka, which is called the kitchen of Japan, I am also in charge of food tour.
    In Nara, in addition to the Great Budda Hall, I guide guests to the temple with a really great view and Japanese wine, sake tasting.
    Every city has a unique charming point.
    The motto of my guiding is ” Ichigo Ichie” Once in a lifetime or seize the day. I learn this concept that the moment will never be the same again through tea ceremonies.
    I like a tea ceremony that is part of the traditional Japanese culture and embodies the spirit of “omotenashi” or hospitality. Through the tea ceremony, we can feel the spirit of “omotenashi” that has been passed down to us from ancient times.
    And I like to travel abroad and domestically, and I have been to 13 overseas countries and most of the prefectures in Japan. Traveling always gives me a new perspective, which is exciting and thrilling. Nowadays, we can learn a lot from the Internet, but traveling teaches us that it is important to have direct experience. When I travel, I feel that my five senses are infinitely expanded, and through my tour, I help all guests to have the same feeling in Japan.
    I was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is next to Tokyo Prefecture in eastern Japan. When I was little, I could see Mount Fuji from my backyard. There was also a rice field nearby, and I grew up listening to the croaking of frogs. Listening to the frogs and seeing the mountains made me feel very calm.
    I moved to the city of Kobe, one of the Kansai areas in western Japan, which includes Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and so on. I’m not from the Kansai area of western Japan, but I think that makes me sensitive to the differences between that area and the Kanto area, Tokyo, where I grew up.
    Speaking of Kobe, you might be thinking of Kobe beef. Of course you do. There are also other sake breweries in Nada in Kobe. You can also go from Kobe city to Himeji Castle, also known as the White Egret Castle, which was the first in Japan to be listed as a World Heritage Site in 1993.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Hakone Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a family visiting Hakone. When I introduced the traditional puzzle boxes, they mentioned that their guide in Tokyo had told them Hakone had such things, and the group was delighted, saying they had really wanted to visit. Unfortunately, at Owakudani the summit of Mount Fuji was only faintly visible for a moment before it became hidden by clouds. Since it was crowded today, there was an announcement advising visitors to move through the itinerary a little earlier, so we took the pirate ship down earlier than planned. It was also full, but we enjoyed the scenery out on the open deck. At Maruyama Bussan, the president gave a presentation, which delighted everyone, and they did a lot of shopping. At Hakone Shrine, I talked about Shinto, Buddhism, and how these relate to our daily life, which may have served as a little preparation for their upcoming visit to Kyoto.

    Can You Do a Private Himeji Castle and Kokoen Garden Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour of Himeji for the group. After meeting at a hotel near Himeji Station, we visited Castle View, Himeji Castle (the West Bailey and the Hyakken Roka corridor of the Long Passage, and the Main Keep), the Otemon Chaya (for a break), and Kokoen Garden, ending the tour at Kokoen Garden. The guests had purchased a digital ticket covering both Himeji Castle and Kokoen Garden in advance, so entry into Himeji Castle went smoothly. However, because it was a sunny Sunday when the cherry blossoms were in bloom, the Main Keep of Himeji Castle was extremely crowded, and sightseeing took a long time. After touring Kokoen Garden, the tour concluded within Kokoen Garden at the guests' request, and the guests appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

    Title: What Is a Private Cherry Blossom Season Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They were difficult to reach right up until just before the tour, and I met them at the Hotel this morning. We first confirmed that my proposed itinerary above did not overlap with the two other tours the guests were joining, and then set off. The guests moved at very different paces — some pressing ahead quickly, others taking their time. Amid the crowds of this cherry blossom season, I found myself going back and forth like a shepherd to keep everyone together. During lunch, which was also crowded, the group split up as well, and I waited outside the restaurant. I guided the group who finished eating early to Onitsuka Tiger, then reunited them with the others and led them along Omotesando to the end. I explained about the site of Edo Castle and the Imperial Palace, sent them off by taxi to the Imperial Palace East Gardens, and we parted ways there.
