What's a 4-Hour Private Osaka Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle, Shitennoji, and Sumiyoshi Taisha The guests on this Osaka tour were a group visiting from North America. The guests had a deep interest in Japanese history and culture. For example, during our pre-tour communication, I suggested "Osaka Castle → Shitennoji → Dotonbori," but the guests decided to remove Dotonbori, saying they wanted to choose places that required a guide's explanation, and instead added Sumiyoshi Taisha. The main challenge of this tour was how to move efficiently within the short span of just four hours. In the original itinerary, we planned to travel mainly by subway and train, but the transfers took too much time, which shortened sightseeing time and would have forced me to rush the guests at each site. In the end, after consulting with the guests, we decided to travel between the sites by taxi as needed. As a result, we were able to secure at least 50 minutes at each site, and we finished the tour almost as scheduled without having to rush the guests too much.

Hi, everyone! I’m Norifumi Kamon, a government registered guide interpreter. Please call me “Nori”, or “Kamon-san”.
Let me introdece myself. I was born on April 17th in 1952 in Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. I used to be an English teacher of Osaka Prefectural high school. When I retired from a teacher ten years ago, I decided to get a professional guide license. I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were first-time visitors to Japan from Europe. Since the guests arrived earlier than the scheduled tour start time, we began the tour right away. We visited Castle View, Himeji Castle, Koko-en Garden, a souvenir shop, and the rooftop of Egret Himeji. As there were few tourists, we were able to move through everything smoothly. The guests listened with great interest to the historical background of the time Himeji Castle was built, the castle's defensive features, the story of Princess Sen, and the Okiku Well. Since I carefully allowed time for the guests to take photos with their camera, I was able to guide them without any problems. After enjoying the exterior view of Himeji Castle from the rooftop of Egret Himeji, the guests expressed a wish to have a meal, so I introduced the Senhime Chaya tearoom on the first floor. After looking at the menu, they said it would be a good choice, so we ended the tour in front of Senhime Chaya. The guests were very pleased.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour to Fujinomiya and Mount Fuji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I had the pleasure of guiding the guests on a private day tour to the Fujinomiya area. The guests were a group visiting from North America. We visited Lake Tanuki, which is famous for its "Diamond Fuji" phenomenon, as well as Shiraito Falls (a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site), Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine, and the World Heritage Center. Unfortunately, Mount Fuji was covered in thick clouds and only the base of the mountain was visible, but the beautiful footage at the World Heritage Center made up for it. Since the guests wanted to eat Japanese food, I took them to a Japanese restaurant. The picture-based menu and the wide variety of dishes were very well received. On the way back, the guests wanted to see the Espulse Dream Plaza in Shimizu, so we ended the tour there.

Title: What Can You See on a Private Osaka Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle, Tenjinbashisuji, and Shinsekai Since the guests mentioned they had visited Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi-suji the day before, I quickly changed the itinerary and took them from Osaka Castle through the Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street to the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living for the first time. Tenjinbashisuji is the longest shopping street in Japan and is not heavily crowded with tourists, and the guests bought quite a lot of apparel with a strong local flavor. At the museum, they looked with great interest at the reproduction of old Osaka townscapes, and I was relieved that bringing them there had been a good choice. Finally, after visiting Tsutenkaku Tower, I introduced them to a dining spot in Shinsekai before saying goodbye. The guests shared that they had been able to see and learn many different things. We were also able to talk about our families, and the group was frank and very pleasant to be with.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Fukuoka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was visiting Japan to attend an international conference. Having been to Japan many times before, the guest mentioned rarely having time to sightsee, so this time arrived a day early to explore. The guest was a great walker. As the guest enjoyed nature, we chose quiet sightseeing spots. Since the guest had brought their own food, we had lunch together on the rooftop of the station building at Hakata Station. The guest showed me photos of a home surrounded by greenery. The guest greatly enjoyed Japan's fresh early-summer foliage and the hydrangeas.

Title: What's a Private Tour of Mishima Skywalk, Shiraito Falls, and Miho no Matsubara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Traveling by a taxi they had hired, we walked across and back over the bridge at the Mishima Skywalk before heading to Obuchi Sasaba. It was cloudy from the morning and Mount Fuji was not visible, but around the time we were leaving Shiraito Falls, Mount Fuji began to come into view. We ate yakisoba at Omiya Yokocho near Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha shrine, and then went to Miho no Matsubara. At the coast of Miho no Matsubara, we took footage with a drone. In the latter half of the tour, Mount Fuji became visible, and the guests were very pleased.

What Is a Private Family Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Since enjoying delicious Japanese food was one of the goals of their trip, they were very satisfied with lunch in that respect. Although it was a simple set meal at a Japanese restaurant, the guests were deeply impressed by the healthy, nutritionally balanced content and the wonderful flavors, sighing in admiration several times. In fact, some of the guests asked for a second helping of miso soup. From this focus on health, the conversation flowed lively into topics such as Japan's medical insurance system, its aging society, and healthcare costs. Due to bad weather and heavy rain in the afternoon, we had to give up the visit to Tokyo Tower that had been planned for the end, but when I saw them off at their hotel, they seemed tired yet very satisfied.

Title: What's a Private Takayama Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a friendly group visiting from Europe. They were calm, kind, and very pleasant people. They were punctual, meticulous, and did not care for overly close interaction, preferring a lighter approach to sightseeing. They enjoyed taking photos and did not drink alcohol. They did not need lunch and had only a single dango skewer, as they said the hotel breakfast had been quite filling. They kindly showed me various photos of thatched roofs from Europe. They found the Sakurayama Nikkokan somewhat underwhelming. There was not enough time to visit the Takayama Jinya. Since they said they wanted to see many things, I kept up my usual brisk pace, but it seemed a little tough for them. I asked several times, but they said to keep this pace. They mentioned wanting to take it easy the next day and explore on their own at a leisurely pace, so I gave them some materials, which pleased them. By chance, we shared a ride with some elderly guests (who seemed quite troubled, so they quietly followed along partway), and the group showed them kind consideration as well. It seems they had to change hotels on short notice, so things were a bit hectic at the end. That gave me a slight concern, but they parted with smiles, and they even emailed me the photos taken with their camera, which made me very happy. One of the guests was bright and is learning a little basic Japanese. It rained lightly for a bit, but I am glad everything went well. Thank you.

Title: What's a Private Family Tour of Tokyo Like for Visitors from North America? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Their advance request was to visit places that would be enjoyable for younger members of the group. I created and presented an itinerary and confirmed it again when we met at the hotel. Some of the guests had visited Japan before. The group had arrived at a hotel in Tokyo around 8:00 the previous evening and set off full of energy (one member of the group was particularly enthusiastic, taking photos along the way almost like a professional!). All of the guests had already prepared Suica apps or cards. The weather was good, and Asakusa just after 9:00 on a Sunday was still uncrowded and easy to walk through, though it seemed harder to navigate the crowds for the younger members of the group. After resisting the many temptations along Nakamise-dori, we finally paid our respects at the main hall, and then returned to those temptations once again. Since the group had not eaten much for breakfast, they enjoyed sharing sweet potato treats, strawberry daifuku, and castella together, which was heartwarming to see. Next we took the subway to Akihabara. Since the manga shops only had Japanese-language versions, I guided them to game and figure shops instead. The younger members of the group were delighted with the UFO catchers and gachapon toys. For a photography enthusiast in the group, I also showed them Yodobashi Camera (which they planned to visit again later). Next was Takeshita Street. I thought they might buy sweets right away, but perhaps due to the crowds and the rainy weather, the guests requested a lunch break at a restaurant. I first suggested a Snoopy cafe, but since they preferred Japanese food, I guided them to a ramen shop. It was just past 12:00 and there was a line, but not a long one, and we were able to get in within about five or six minutes! While we waited and looked at the menu, one of the younger members of the group was curious about a hedgehog cafe, but they let it go for the day. After lunch we shopped at KIDDY LAND, and the rain began to come down harder. I proposed changing the planned route from "Shinjuku to Shibuya" to "Shibuya to Odaiba," and with their agreement we headed to Shibuya. The group enjoyed taking photos of the Hachiko statue and the crossing, and the train ride to Odaiba served as a rest break. Upon arriving at Aqua City Odaiba, I received permission to post photos, and we parted ways.

Hi! I’m a local guide in Tokyo and have been working as a licensed tour guide for almost 10 years. I love helping guests discover the “real Japan” beyond the guidebooks. I enjoy showing guests both famous sights and places that many tourists miss. My tours are based on your interests and can include not only famous sightseeing spots, but also local neighborhoods, culture, history, and everyday life in Japan. I also help guests enjoy Japanese cultural activities and make communication easier. If you’d like vegan or gluten-free meals, let me help you find suitable restaurants in Tokyo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to let me know in advance. I look forward to showing you around Tokyo!

What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, and wished to arrive a little early to see the main sights. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guides lead private one-day tours of Tokyo for guests visiting Japan. I was able to show them the Imperial Palace as planned, but in Asakusa the rain suddenly grew heavy, and we were forced to take shelter for about 15 minutes. This caused a delay in the latter part of the day, and for the final stop at Meiji Shrine, I had to explain the overview at the entrance and end the tour there. Since the guests had requested ramen for lunch, I took them to Ramen Watanabe in Asakusa, and they were very pleased. The weather was not on our side, but I believe the guests were satisfied with the tour itself.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!
