What Is a Private Day Tour of Kamakura Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, and this was their first visit to Japan. They had arrived in Japan about two weeks earlier and had already visited Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Okinawa, and planned to return home in a couple of days. At Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, they listened with great interest to my explanation of the difference between shrines and temples, as well as the historical background of the Kamakura Shogunate. At Hasedera Temple, they enjoyed the large Kannon statue and the beautiful ocean view from the observation deck. At Kotokuin Temple, they appeared deeply impressed by the enormous Great Buddha of Kamakura. Since I accommodated the guests' wishes throughout the tour, I believe they were satisfied.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

Can You Do a Private Day Tour of Nara from Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors making their first trip to Japan, arriving from Asia. Before the tour I had wondered about mobility, but they walked well and there were no problems. Since one of the guests was not very comfortable with English, the other often interpreted into another language. The trains heading to Nara have seen an increasing number of international visitors, and Nara has become a destination people want to visit alongside Kyoto. The guests seemed fond of the deer and animals, but they did not buy crackers to feed them. As today was a Monday, the "Naramachi Koshi-no-Ie" (Lattice House) was closed, and it appears it will remain closed for a while due to renovation work starting the next day. So today I guided them to the "Nigiwai-no-Ie." Afterward, we took a break at a nearby café, but things took a while because some of the items we ordered were sold out, and we ended up spending quite a bit of time there. As a result, the tour ended about 30 minutes later than planned. The photo was taken at Kasuga Taisha Shrine.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

What Is a Private Kyoto Tour Like When Nijo Castle Replaces the Imperial Palace? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. One of the guests had an interest in the Imperial family and had hoped to visit the Imperial Palace, but since it is closed on Mondays, we changed the plan to Nijo Castle. I explained that Nijo Castle also has connections to the Imperial family, and the guests understood. Their questions extended to the balance of power between the Imperial family and the samurai-led government, and unfortunately I had to admit the limits of my own knowledge. The guests followed a gluten-free diet. Since the agency handles private tours for guests with dietary needs, they sent me a list of about five candidate restaurants in advance. This list will be useful going forward. However, some places prepare such dishes in the same pots as other dishes, so caution is needed. The guests were scheduled to return home the next day but expressed that they wished they could stay in Kyoto a little longer.

    • 12:45 Disband @ Kuromon Market

What Is a Private Osaka Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Osaka Castle, Sumiyoshi Taisha, and Kuromon Market The guests moved smoothly throughout the tour. They listened very attentively to the guide's explanations. At Osaka Castle, the visit was limited to viewing from the outside, but they greatly enjoyed the grandeur and beauty of the castle. At Sumiyoshi Taisha, they offered prayers within the grounds, picked up the small "Go-Dai-Riki" pebbles from the popular power spot, and purchased an amulet pouch. At the final stop, Kuromon Market, they were very satisfied after enjoying fatty tuna. As they wished to try more local foods, I introduced a few shops before we parted ways. (Kuromon Market has had a poor reputation online for being "overpriced," and while the price range seems to have improved somewhat recently, there is no doubt that tourist pricing still applies. Even so, I recommend it because I truly want guests to experience that atmosphere.)

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.

What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Shibuya The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. At Sensoji Temple, I explained the origins and history of the temple, religion in Japan, and how to make a proper visit. We bought fried rice cakes at Nakamise and ate them within the temple grounds. At Tsukiji, we did some window shopping while soaking up the market atmosphere. The guests purchased small plates at a Japanese tableware shop. We enjoyed freshly made sushi at the counter. In Shibuya, after viewing the scramble crossing, we actually crossed it and went to a Starbucks. The guests purchased Pokémon cards. I gave them a subway map and explained how to get back to their hotel. I believe they enjoyed it very much.

What Does a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, they took many photographs of the various Edo-period buildings and stone walls. They showed a strong interest in history and listened attentively to my explanations. They also seemed to enjoy the beauty of the Ninomaru Garden. In Asakusa, they enjoyed the view from the information center, especially the Tokyo Skytree and the Asahi Beer headquarters building. Afterward, we visited Senso-ji Temple, where they purchased a goshuin stamp book and had it stamped. For lunch, we enjoyed monjayaki and okonomiyaki in Nishi-Asakusa, and they said the monjayaki was delicious. In Kappabashi, we visited shops selling food samples and Kiriko glass, and then we strolled through Ueno Park, briefly explored Ginza Street, and parted ways at the rooftop garden of Ginza SIX. There was only a slight sprinkle of rain and it was a little humid, but the weather was pleasant. We walked a great deal, and I believe the guests enjoyed the day.

Title: What Is a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Japan for the first time from Oceania. They were in great spirits and, being fond of walking, thoroughly enjoyed an itinerary that reached as many as 30,000 steps. They took their time examining each site in detail, repeatedly asking questions, including the stone walls of Edo Castle, the outer walls of the Sakuradamon Gate, the interior architecture of Tokyo Station, the plants and animals of Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, the forest and structures of Meiji Shrine, a Japanese-style wedding ceremony that happened to be taking place, and the view from the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The tour lasted 6 hours and 45 minutes, and I was relieved and pleased that the guests said they enjoyed it very much. This private tour was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. Title: What Is a Private Harajuku Animal Cafe Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This was the second day of a private Tokyo tour with the same guests as the previous day, arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). At the guests' request, we pushed the morning meeting time back by 30 minutes for a relaxed start. Having worn sandals the day before, one of the guests switched to sneakers today, and it seemed our walking pace picked up a bit as a result. The highlight of the day was the piglet cafe and cat cafe in Harajuku. From our earlier exchanges, the guests had expressed a wish not merely to glance through the window but to actually go inside and interact with the animals, so for the popular piglet cafe I made a reservation in advance to secure same-day entry. The guests were thoroughly delighted, and one of them was especially happy with as many as five piglets resting on their lap. At first I told the guests, "I'm a little scared, so I'll wait outside," but I was warmly encouraged with, "It's fine, let's go in together! They're really adorable. I love little piglets," so I mustered my courage and joined them. The piglets had been trained, much like cats, to relieve themselves in a designated spot. One after another, the people entering seemed to be visitors from overseas. Seeing a "fully booked" sign go up and a crowd of inbound guests gathering in front of it to watch and take photos, I once again felt just how popular the place is. For lunch, I guided the guests to a nearby vegan restaurant, but there was a very long line there as well. We gave up and, by chance, found a shop specializing in hand-rolled sushi. It was delicious, and although the guests did not eat the seaweed, saying they were not fond of it, they thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Afterward, the guests also enjoyed the cat cafe. They were a bit calmer than at the piglet cafe, but kept smiling throughout, and it turned out to be a day full of unique experiences in Japan.

I’m looking forward to meeting you all in Tokyo!

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report At the guests' request beforehand, in order to make the most of their time, the meeting point was changed from their hotel to Miyajimaguchi, so the tour started from Miyajimaguchi. The guests had many things they wanted to do and many foods they wanted to try, and their wishes included, in addition to the shrine, the ropeway, Daishoin Temple, Tenshinkaku, oysters, and okonomiyaki. I first took them to Daishoin Temple, which closes early, and then explained the ropeway operating hours as well as the closing time and risks of Tenshinkaku (a café), after which they decided to ride the ropeway. Although we could only go as far as the Shishiiwa Observatory, they enjoyed both the journey and the scenery. After coming back down, we went to Itsukushima Shrine, and then they enjoyed oysters along the main approach. Instead of the café, I took them for okonomiyaki, assisted with booking tickets at Hiroshima Station for the next day's travel, saw them off at their hotel, and we parted ways. As the tour progressed, the guests relaxed and made many jokes. They also seemed to really enjoy the okonomiyaki.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report On the morning of the tour, the meeting was originally planned at the Hotel, but since I confirmed via a messaging app that the guests were near Kanazawa Station for breakfast, I changed the meeting point to the Tsuzumi Gate at Kanazawa Station and started from there. For the tour inside Myoryuji Temple, I explained in advance that interpretation services are generally requested to be kept to a minimum by the temple, and I had the guests refer to the English guidebook prepared by the temple. Most of the guests were visiting Japan for the first time, with Kanazawa being their first stop, so they showed great interest and asked many questions about Japan. They seemed to have already gained a fair amount of knowledge about Japan beforehand, which made for a very rewarding guiding experience. I believe they were satisfied. Although the tour was scheduled to end at Kanazawa Station, we wrapped up at 16:00 after discussing recommendations for dinner spots, consulting about places to visit the following day, and making reservations for the bullet train.
