Title: What's a 6-Hour Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from Oceania on a 6-hour private tour of Tokyo. The weather was sunny and 24°C.

1. Tsukiji Outer Market We bought tekka-don (tuna rice bowls) at the seafood building and enjoyed lunch on the third-floor terrace. Afterward, we strolled around and enjoyed the street food and the atmosphere of the market.

2. Asakusa After taking in a sweeping view of the whole of Asakusa from the 8th floor of the Culture Tourist Information Center, we walked through Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise shopping street, and Senso-ji Temple. The guests experienced Japanese culture, including the smoke of the large incense burner, the purification water basin, and praying at Senso-ji Temple. I explained the differences between Buddhism and Shinto.

3. Tokyo Station Marunouchi → Imperial Palace From the red-brick Tokyo Station building, we followed the route used for the presentation of credentials ceremony and continued to the Imperial Palace.

4. Takeshita Street → Meiji Shrine With the clear autumn skies, everywhere was crowded with tourists. Perhaps everyone had had their fill of the crowds by then.

5. Shibuya Scramble Crossing Just after arriving, there was a passing shower. We experienced crossing amid the crowds. After seeing the Hachiko statue, we parted ways at Shibuya Station. A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is one of the most visited Buddhist temples in Japan. Visitors pass through the iconic Kaminarimon Gate with its massive red lantern, then walk along Nakamise shopping street, which is lined with traditional stalls selling snacks and souvenirs leading up to the main hall. The temple grounds offer a vivid glimpse into Japanese religious customs, including the large incense burner whose smoke is believed to bring good health, and the purification water basin used before approaching the main hall.
