What Is a 4-Hour Private Walking Tour of Central Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

Tour name: Tokyo 4 Hours Weather: Sunny, 22°C Guests: A group from North America

[First stop] East Gardens of the Imperial Palace The weather was fine and the gardens were crowded with many visitors. We made a round trip up to the former castle keep foundation.

[Second stop] Tokyo Station Character Street We stopped by at the request of some of the guests. Their eyes sparkled at the wide variety of character goods.

[Third stop] Ginza Itoya We visited for stationery, especially craft items. There were no particular purchases.

[Fourth stop] Roppongi The guests wanted lunch before a cooking class in Roppongi after the tour. Based on prior research regarding dietary needs, I chose a sushi restaurant. They enjoyed a relaxed lunch in a private room. After lunch, we parted ways. A notable stop on the tour was the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. The East Gardens are a part of the grounds of the Imperial Palace that are open to the public, located in the heart of Tokyo. The area was once the site of Edo Castle, the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate, and visitors can still see the massive stone foundation of the former castle keep, which once stood as the tallest structure in Japan. Today the gardens are a tranquil green space featuring seasonal flowers, traditional Japanese landscaping, and historic stone walls and gates, offering a peaceful contrast to the surrounding modern city.
