A Private Rainy-Day Tour of Yokohama: A Licensed Guide's Report on Sankeien, Yamashita Park, and Chinatown
The guests were visitors from North America, and this was their final day in Japan after visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Mount Fuji. Unfortunately it rained from the morning; it eased at times but then came down heavily again. The guests had no umbrellas and only raincoats, and one of them had wet shoes, which looked quite uncomfortable. Along the way I tried to offer a spare pair of socks and encouraged purchasing socks or an umbrella, but they firmly declined, saying they were fine. However, in the latter part of the day they finally bought a plastic umbrella in Chinatown. We took a taxi from Sankeien Garden to Chinatown. Since there were no taxis at the entrance, I asked at the reception desk and they gave me the number of a taxi company, so I called to arrange one. The guests enjoyed the scenery of Sankeien Garden, Yamashita Park, and the Minato Mirai area, but because of the rain the overall mood was somewhat subdued. For shopping, they showed interest in a leather goods shop at the Red Brick Warehouse but did not buy anything, and they also did not eat anything in Chinatown. It was difficult to come up with alternative plans for Yokohama, so I would appreciate any information on rainy-day options. A notable stop on the tour was Sankeien Garden, a spacious traditional Japanese garden in Yokohama that opened to the public in the early 20th century. It features historic buildings relocated from Kyoto and Kamakura, including a three-story pagoda, as well as ponds, streams, and seasonal plants that make it a scenic spot throughout the year.

We had a lovely introductory tour of the part of Tokyo we wanted to visit over the 6 hours together. Takako Yoshida had contacted us beforehand to discuss our requirements for the tour. She also made some good suggestions in terms of ensuring the travel time was kept to a minimum.
It was lovely spending time with her. She was both informative and approachable.

6 hour guided tour of Tokyo
Our wonderful guide, Takako, took us on a tour of Tokyo. She helped us create a plan based on our interests and was flexible when we needed to change the itinerary a bit due to extreme heat. She was friendly, informative, and helpful. We enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and history from Takako, and we saw amazing temples and ate delicious sushi. I highly recommend this tour and Takako as a guide!

We had an amazing day with Takako. Takako got in contact prior to our tour to create the perfect itinerary. She collected us from our hotel and helped us get our travel cards and showed us how to use the public transport. Takako altered our tour and took us to Harajuku Takeshite street, which our teenagers really enjoyed. Takako was really informative and friendly and made the day really enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in booking her again. Takako showed us more in 6 hours than we would have seen in a week if left to our own devices. Thanks Takako and we will watch The Transporter!
