Title: What's a Private Cruise-Passenger Tour of East Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from North America who arrived in Yokohama on a cruise, continuing from the previous day. Yesterday I guided them mainly around the western side of Tokyo, and today we focused on the eastern side of Tokyo. At Hamarikyu Gardens, the guests enjoyed the beautiful Japanese garden and Japanese tea at the teahouse on the tidal pond. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, they showed great interest in the lively atmosphere of the tuna shops of Tsukiji Uogashi and the many shops of the outer market. At the Tokyo National Museum, they were especially fascinated by the exhibits related to the tea ceremony, Noh and Kabuki, and paintings. They were deeply moved and said it was wonderful to be able to learn about Japan's history and culture. Since I responded to their wishes as requested, I believe they were satisfied.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto
