What Does a Private One-Day Tokyo Walking Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report

The weather was good despite a slight chill, and it made for an enjoyable tour. Since it was the guests' first time in Japan, we bought Suica cards at Shinjuku Station and then proceeded to Meiji Shrine and Asakusa. I gave a detailed explanation of the Meiji Restoration, Shinto, shrines, Buddhism, and temples, which the guests listened to attentively. In Asakusa, after taking photos of the Skytree, we visited Senso-ji Temple. The guests did no shopping at all, so the tour proceeded smoothly. At their request, I guided them to the observation deck of the tourist information center, where the view was excellent and they were able to capture the full scene of Nakamise, which seemed to please them. We bought lunch at a convenience store in the basement of the Palace Building and ate it on a bench inside the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. In the East Gardens, several varieties of cherry blossoms were in bloom, and I took photos for the guests. At Yasukuni Shrine and the Yushukan Museum, I talked about modern Japanese history, the circumstances of the war, and prewar treaties with Europe. In front of Yasukuni Shrine, I handed the guests a paper with directions to Akihabara, their next destination, and the tour concluded. Overall, I believe the guests were satisfied.
